Crispy noodles with chicken

The food at this restaurant is fantastic. The place is quirky and the owner is peculiar - may seem rude at times but it is not really. My family of six had a great meal there. The pho is phenomenal, as well as the bahn mi and summer rolls. We will be back for certain.

Pho Vietnam on Olden Avenue, Ewing, NJ, is located in the space of a former venerable Italian steak house. The black & white ceramic times are still on the floor and the old Formica topped tables are also there. The menu seems complete and varied until you ask for something more complicated than pho, Banh mi or appetizers, when I found out that many of the sautéed, vermicelli and com dishes aren't available (likely due to the economic realities of a non-Asian area not demanding more than the basics). I ordered Shrimp Summer Rolls, Roast Pork and Sautéed Beef Banh Mi (hoagies). The two Summer Rolls were quite good - fresh, crunchy bite and chewy skin, with a small cup of Hoisin Sauce with a pinch of ground peanuts. I liked the Roast Pork Banh Mi in a fresh torpedo, full of daikon, carrot slivers, cucumber and cilantro. It arrived wrapped in deli paper and rubber band. A squirt of table rocket Hoisin and Sriracha Spicy Hot Sauce, and I was ready to take a big bite. It all came together well in my mouth, although it seemed to be light in the meat department, a fact confirmed when I opened the other half sandwich and noted there were only pieces of roast pork rather than the expected long strips of past experience. At $9 per sammy, I found that disappointing. Too, the price for a bowl of pho started at $13. I bypassed ordering any on this first visit for fear that it was priced for perfection without ability to sample. Service was friendly and responsive. While a decent showing for Ewing, it could have been much more satisfying if not grading on a curve. 3.5 Stars for a less than pho-filling experience.

Great food, fast service, cool atmosphere and we don't have to leave town looking forward to coming back to try the breakfast

I ordered a Pho with only/just beansprout due to an allergy. The Pho was delivered with the allergic ingredients included. I explained the problem and asked for a NEW bowl. They took the bowl back and pulled out most of the items, not a new bowl and returned the contaminated bowl. It is lucky I realized before a reaction occurred. They did not seem to understand the potential consequences. I did not want a replacement, but argued with me about it. The original pho included only a few pieces of grizzled "filet". Very disappointing food and potentially dangerous food preparation. They appear to have no concept of contamination. What other safety measures are they lacking?

Pork summer rolls

My husband and I always come here. The owner is so nice and attentive, and the food is always great. We grew up eating viet food and this is the best in the area, really hope it gains traction and sticks around!!

The rudest interaction I've ever had with staff. Got mocked and yelled at trying to order food. It was honestly comical.

Review for Meatheadz - Lawrence Township, NJ…read more After hearing a NJ Transit conductor rave about Meatheadz, I finally decided to check it out--and I'm glad I did. This place absolutely lives up to the hype. I went with the Plain cheesesteak with fried onions and pepper jack cheese on a seeded bun, along with an order of Meatheadz loaded fries. Let me just say, that cheesesteak was a monster. Fresh, perfectly cooked, and swimming in melty cheese--it's easily the best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. The portion was so generous I could barely finish it, and for anyone arriving hungry, you definitely won't leave that way. The loaded fries looked fantastic too, but I had to box them up for later (that's how filling the sandwich was). The prices were moderate and fair for what you get, and while the place was busy, the energy felt lively rather than chaotic. All in all, Meatheadz is absolutely worth the trip if you're craving an authentic cheesesteak experience. Rating: 4.25 out of 5

My own experiences here tended to be in the 3.5 or higher range but I feel confident that rounding…read moreup to 4 is warranted. First of all, it is the closest takeout restaurant to the Civil courthouse( also known as the place where potential jurors come to check in and wait to be called) I love that they share a small storefront with a florist, but it does make for tight quarters, esp during the ordering and waiting process. And the customer service was top notch. My first visit was for a lunch order. It was difficult trying to read the specials of the day menu, let alone the standard menu. This was due to timing, several people were ordering and or waiting. Once chicken quesadillas caught my eye I stopped reading. My selection came out fairly quickly and was packaged with small containers of salsa Fresca and sour cream. But I'm pretty sure menu read that some type of salad was also included, this was left out. They were pretty good too, well seasoned pulled chicken and cheese, the flour tortillas were perfectly grilled and stayed that way even in the package. It was a nice serving and I would have really enjoyed had it come with a fresh and simple salad. I would order again as well. My next two visits were just for a pick me up bakery item. The pumpkin muffin was excellent. The chocolate chip one was not very good. Not enough chips and a dry texture. But during each trip the owner was right up front and being helpful and friendly to all. I feel that this spirit does go into the food that is prepared and served here. Good spot for locals, workers and even the confused juror.

Lexi Lu's Café is a strange setup…read more Up front it is a well designed, attractive take out shop. Walk past their kitchen and it is Amoroso's Flower Shop, where you can still buy a bouquet of roses for your anniversary. Love the adaptive reuse of this old storefront on S. Broad Street, Trenton; right across from the very old courthouse. It is hard to find driving by, and there are seldom parking spaces within the surrounding area. But, if you work or live in the neighborhood, or go to the new civil or criminal courts, you can walk over and pick up soup, sandwich, breakfast muffin, etc., on your way to the office. It closes at 2:00 pm. Service is exemplary given how small the space is. The two friendlies who helped me out were attractive and efficient. One made up my grilled chicken chipotle wrap, while the other provided the history of the business and worked the register. Both were happy to pose for photos when I pulled out my Yelp screen after ordering. You can see the results. The lunch was very good. Fresh, quality ingredients and TLC. Plenty of stuffing for a large wrap. It was enough for two meals. @ $8.50, it was a spectacular deal. Too bad there is no place to sit, because the room is comfy in a cramped way, and it would be nice to absorb more atmosphere from the winsome workers.

I'm a strange dude, I'll be the first to admit to that. I've never been one to like anything that…read moredraws attention from the masses. I never watched Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones because every last loser on earth was all about it. The Beatles fucking suck and Bruce Springsteen can go shit in his hat. Pumpkin spice is for pumpkin pie and that's it, no matter what these dizzy suburban women say. So the decision to visit Johnny Longhots today was based entirely on poor reviews. The guy who ordered a sandwich to the hospital and found a cheesesteak to be "greasy" deserves to contract MRSA during his stay. The dope who complained his fries were soggy ordered his shit off Door Dash. He's lucky the driver didn't eat all of his fries. The folks who called out the teenagers who are getting their first experience working can all get bent. You weren't perfect when you had your first job. Don't forget people like you willingly locked kids in their homes during covid. It's no wonder some of them struggle with social skills and working under pressure. Have a little grace, then eat a bag of dicks for not being patient to them. Don't get me started on that dipshit from Brooklyn. That person who rated the place a one for the soda? I already know who you vote for. Onto the food - the menu is huge. There are a ton of choices with something for just about everyone. There's even gluten free options for those fucking people. There were four or five sandwiches in the running, but it was the Gritty Cheesesteak that ultimately won out on my first visit. And that's a strange decision for me because the Flyers stink and their fans are even worse. They're the worst organization in hockey. Maybe I just wanted fries on my sandwich. Yea - that's it. So the Gritty is a good amount of beef, fries tossed in Old Bay and topped with white cheddar cheese sauce atop a seeded roll. I added fried onions. The sandwich scores higher than the Flyers. I was a fan of the seeded roll which was super fresh. The cheese sauce was tasty and complemented the fries really well. They were super crispy, well seasoned and plentiful. The beef wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tender and cooked well. All-in-all a good sandwich. The gals up front were attentive and friendly. They took my order quickly. Hats off to the kitchen for getting my food out promptly among the online orders. The place was pretty clean and had a ton of Philly Sports pics on the wall. The music on the radio was some throwback stuff - thank God it wasn't any of that mumble rap shit most kids play these days. Johnny's has a bunch of lunch specials that look worthwhile and a decent value. Locally owned spot worth giving your business to. It's a 4-star review from me that gets bumped to a 5 to spite the mopes who gave it a one.
