Stopped in for lunch w/ a friend, and it's a nice, small spot w/ friendly staff and fast service - once we ordered, it didn't take long for our food to come out, and the food was pretty good as far as Vietnamese dishes go. Each of us got the grilled pork over broken rice, a go-to for me on warmer days, and it was well put together complete w/ pickled veggies and salad. Pricing is a bit higher than I'm used to for Vietnamese dishes, but I suppose on par w/ where most prices are going these days. Clean space, only one bathroom, and parking is street-only in the area, one-hour where I parked. The toppings were a bit old, as the lime was yellowing and the jalapeño seeds and sprouts were browning. The grilled pork banh mi was tasty with a good ratio of crunchy toppings and flavorful pork on an airy baguette - I enjoyed this more than the pho. Service was okay, pretty bare bones. It is a tiny bit catered to Americans but if you are around the area, this place still hits all the spots of traditional Vietnamese flavors. It's been quite some time since I've been to this restaurant. We were seated by a somewhat disgruntled waiter. An older man. We ordered shrimp pancake cups as an appetizer which were fairly good. 6 for $13.95. My friend ordered veggie pho and I ordered a special on the board which was crispy tofu. My friend said the Pho was just average as was my crispy tofu. Certainly nothing to write home about. He overcharged me $ 1.50 for the tofu. I told him and first he made up some lane excuse. I ended up deducting it from the tip. This place used to be so crowded. Today at 1:00 it was only the two of us. Menu prices have drastically increased. I can't recommend this restaurant. read more

I ordered the grilled beef and egg roll vermicelli bowl (BÚN BÒ NƯỚNG CHẢ GIÒ). The grilled beef was delicious and well seasoned. The egg roll was good, but nothing to write home about. However, the dish as a whole was refreshing and tasty, especially when mixed with the sweet/tangy sauce that came with it. Price was pretty inexpensive too compared to what I typically see in the DC metro area -- it was a big portion for $12.95. Our server was also friendly and attentive. We are completely obsessed with Pho Kim! We used to come when it was the previous owner and the food was good, but the service wasn't great. Now, as soon as you walk in you are greeted by a super friendly host with awesome style (and even better jewelery) and promptly served some cucumber mint water. We used to get take out from here often, as the area isn't the nicest, but now we happily sit in and dine. The restaurant has had some upgrades with cleanliness and I enjoy the Vietnamese cooking shows they play while you eat. Our favorite things to order are the Vermicelli bowl (thin rice noodles) with grilled shrimp, chicken, pork and an egg roll. It is a really generous portion and I love to add some hoison sauce and spicey chili flakes. We also love the grilled pork with rice and the pad thai plates. Last, the appetizers are also great! We have done the fried dumplings, the spring rolls and the Vietnamese pancakes. I absolutely recommend that you come and dine at Pho Kim and keep them open for many years to come! read more

Locate in Trenton right tucked away besides row homes, Kim Pho is worth the trip. We ordered the Shrimp wrap appetizer which was very good. Definitely fresh! For dinner I had the angel vermicelli with lemongrass tofu. It was very flavorful and delicious. The serving was large enough for me to take some home. I also got the mango smoothie bubble tea, which was enjoyable but I found the bobas quite mushy and flavorless. But over all the drink was tasty. I'd definitely come back. I'm giving 4 stars as I really wanted to order some Pho, but they were all made with beef broth and I'm a vegetarian. Definitely worth a try! read more

No doubt, the naming of this Viet kitchen is an intentional play on pronunciation. Regardless, I was very pleasantly surprised by the definite upgrade in quality provided by the new management of this small restaurant on Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, NJ, right up the street from the former Helene Fuld Medical Center. The dining room looks basically the same, but cleaner than it was in the past, and the management is truly Vietnamese. The floor boss oversees everything in the house in the appropriate accent, while the HDTV high on the wall plays a documentary on local ethnic cooking around the Mekong River delta. Educational and entertaining. My Pho Tai (beef noodle soup w rare sliced ribeye) was quite tasty. The large bowl ($12.95), had at least ten thin slices of steak and plenty of onion, scallion, rice noodles and well simmered broth, to which I added squeezed lime, jalapeños, Thai basil, and sprouts. It was nicely balanced, but probably could have used more lemongrass in the pot to kick up the heat quotient a bit. I also ordered a Grilled Beef Banh Mi (sandwich on demi baguette), which was also very good, especially after long squirts from the Hoisin Sauce and short bursts from the sriracha table rocket. The loaf had a crisp skin and soft inners and held its contents well with strong flavor from the daikon radish, carrot, homemade aioli and ample grilled beef with excellent bbq sauce basting. I ordered another with pork to take home for those I knew loved this snack. Aside from the sketchy nature of the neighborhood which dictates that the wise go there for lunch, Pho Kim has the chance to succeed based on the quality of the kitchen and brightness of the dining room. Just dropped by this brand new Vietnamese for lunch. i was here many years ago and it was not good at all. new owners took over and opened up a few weeks ago. the real loose leaf hot tea was the first indication that this was going to be a decent quality lunch. also a good indication was that there were both hot chili oil and sriracha on the table. i prefer the hot chili oil so i was glad to see it. i ordered a mixed vermicelli. the noodles were fresh and plentiful. although i prefer mine on the cool side and this was warm, it was still super fresh and satisfying. the spring roll was great too. next time i will order more veggies and less vermicelli. i always regret it when i forget to do so. interior is simple, clean and comfortable. server was very pleasant and spoke broken English well enough. For some that may be a negative, for me the fact that these folks are immigrants cooking their food, is exactly what will bring me back. I took out pho and summer rolls for my wife and kids. One of my son's loved his brisket pho and told me it was the best he ever had. I think that's due to the broth being well balanced and not overly aggressive. I had one of the summer rolls, shrimp and lettuce were very fresh and the peanut sauce had some body to it, not watery like in some other places. I was in town visiting my grandparents on a rainy saturday and was feeling some pho. They've never had it so i had to introduce them to this heavenly soup. Now this was my first time searching and trying this place and the reviews looked great so i went with my first instinct. I ordered 2 classic: chicken and eye round steak. The portions were plenty and the chicken was chunky pieces vs sliced (how i've usually had it) but i was not mad at it. Plenty of utensils and what really stood out is that this is the first of many places i've gone that gives you plastic to go soup spoons. That sold me! The comments said they have a rooftop for outdoor seating will definitely be back. The summer rolls were huge for an order of 2. The peanut sauce was delicious and if i'd have to nitpick i wish the peanuts were crushed a bit more to make it easier to scoop on the rolls. We went to Pho Kim in Trenton, NJ because co-worker said food was good though neighborhood wasnt good. Restaurant small and run down. Met by this elderly asian man, very abrupt; We told him theres 5 of us but he brought us 4 glasses of water, so I saw he was frustrated already that he had to go up 2-3 steps to kitchen to get water. Then we asked him how big was the serving as we wanted to know how many to buy for 5 to share, we asked how many chicken satay in an order, he came back to us and gave me a frozen chicken, and grabbed it away when he asked him about the tofu dish. This guy didnt know anything about the food, so he literally yelled at us and told us to leave if we didnt know what to order. I dont care if they say food is good, whats important is the service and we got very POOR and awful service at this place, I wouldnt recommend this lace to anyone especially if same guy greets you, they need to fire this guy if they want to get customers. I wish I can give this review a 0 but 1 is the lowest. Not worth it, theres no parking, unsafe neighborhood, rundown resto with rude customer service. Stay Away. read more

We have eaten in Vietnamese restaurants in over a dozen countries in North America, Europe and Asia (including Vietnam). In the US we have eaten in Vietnamese restaurants from Orange County, CA to Seven Corners, VA, Philadelphia, New York and more, but what makes Pho Kim stand out is that we have never experienced worse service or a ruder server than the old man that was working the front of the restaurant on 3/12/2025 (it must be the same disgruntled man described in the review from 11/19/2024 since the man said he had been working there 8 1/2 months). We can't give a full review on the food because we didn't get past the appetizer, a pancake with shrimp, because the old male server threw a fit and refused to serve us further. We were totally stunned. My wife is Vietnamese so we know the cuisine well. Although the elderly server spoke Vietnamese with a southern Vietnamese accent, he knew almost nothing about what he was serving and had very limited command of English. Beef Pho can typically have several kinds of cuts like thinly sliced Eye Round rare streak, beef brisket, flank steak, tendon and tripe. The only English description was beef, the Vietnamese description wasn't any more illuminating according to my wife, who grew up in South Vietnam and is fluent in Vietnamese, I wanted to order a Pho with a few kinds of beef and the menu listed that we could order extra beef brisket, flank steak, etc. This is where everything went very wrong. Essentially he became frustrated and said that we give him a number and he brings that dish number. If we don't give a number he refuses to serve us. My wife jumped in Vietnamese to explain that I just wanted to order a beef pho with some extra meats as per the menu, but he refused to listen and brought our bill for the appetizer - our signal to leavie. We were totally stunned. This certainly wasn't the super friendly server with great jewelry described in one review. If the owner cares about his/her business the owner should fire him immediately since he stood out in another review and seems to be best at driving business away. The ambiance was not great and the area does not look very safe even in the afternoon when we arrived, even with a sign on the front door stating there is 24 hour security surveillance did not reassure my wife. My biggest regret is that I am not able to give Pho Kim a "0" for service since "1" is the lowest rating we can give on Yelp. On the bright side, we left and stopped at Pho Today in Plainsboro where we were able to finish our Vietnamese meal with a friendly server that actually smiled and brought the Beef Pho we asked for without threatening to throw us out. The moral of this story is that the trip to Trenton to visit Pho Kim just isn't worth it and we should have eaten at one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants on Race Streel in Philly since we were in south NJ before driving to the nightmare of Pho KIm in Trenton, or we could have just simply dined at a Vietnamese restaurant closer to home, but sometimes you just have to travel to gain an appreciation of what you have close to home. read more
