Being from Hawaii, we are used to having Korean fusion restaurants like these everywhere so my boyfriend and I were happy to find Yummy Kitchen, which is pretty close to where we live. The food is delicious and the plates we commonly get is the meat jun and garlic chicken with a side of poke. Sometimes I also get the bi bim bap. Just a shot at this place on a whim, since in the area, perfect "Hole in the wall". Mac salad was very creamy, the marinade on the Kalbi is worth asking if they would sell you just a gallon to take home. The gentleman was very friendly, talkative and funny. I'm not sure if Yummy Kitchen is associated with Ohana Kitchen in Burien but both serve Japchae and rice with their entrees FYI! I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken (kfc) and chicken katsu to go with a 12 minute expected wait time. It actually took an additional five minutes for it to come out so maybe come five minutes later than the estimated time? The chicken katsu tastes standard though the sauce that comes with it is nice. The kfc is a standout in that it's sweet and a just a bit spicy. It's probably overlooked in the emerging kfc scene here so I would recommend people give theirs a try. The Japchae is mildly sweet and savory but does not taste like Japchae you would get at korean restaurants. Not to say it's bad, just different. The kimchi is okay and the sweet potato banchan that came with the kfc was great. The white rice didn't taste that great and I'm wondering if it was the type of rice, but the flavor wasn't appealing and tasted overcooked. The cashier was very responsive and sanitized his hands after each interaction and there were floor stickers in place for lining up safely. I would probably come here again for the kfc and other Hawaiian dishes but it's not an absolute recommend on my list. read more

If you like thinly sliced beef with a slightly sweet eggy batter you'll love this dish. Spicy pork bulgogi: 5/5!! This will be my dedicated go-to pork bulgogi place! Nicely flavored with a good balance of spice, savory, and sweetness. Had a slight flamed flavor that I love. Not too grisly!! Chicken wings-soy garlic: my guy DEVOURED these-I only got ONE wing!!! Nicely fried with a solid sauce. Kimchi fried rice: NICE portion-was quite tasty. The meat in here is a combo of spam and pork belly slices. For the korean food the prices are really good and the portions are a good size. I don't usually like the macaroni salad that comes with Hawaiian food, but this had some black magic in it or something I swear. The japjae isn't like the japjae I'm used to (I've eaten a decent amount too) but that's in no way a negative because their's is really good. Some people might not be satisfied with the amount of rice, but for me, I liked the variety that having more sides and less rice gives you. The inside is clean and unassuming. Came in here at 7pm on a Friday to dine in and try the food. The woman working was so friendly! She was taking orders, running the business and waitressing. There was a sauce that I hadn't tried, gochujang and I loved it. Guy who took our order wasn't as customer friendly as I'm used to, but I don't care about that as long ad the food is good. I got the spam musubi and beef bulgoGi. My hubby got the spicy pork. Ultra large portions that I can have for dinner and breakfast for tomorrow. Rice was cooked to my liking, the side dishes were fresh, I can also tell it's korean owned because the dishes are more in the sweeter side, which I'm not complaining at all because I love korean food. However others might not like sweet compared to more savory. My hubby enjoyed his spicy pork. I tried it but was too spicy for me. I'm a whimp because to him it's not spicy enough but the flavor was spot on. My bulgogi was tendEr, and flavorful. Small business owned by some Korean family (I believe). Came here for lunch before heading to IKEA. Food was delicious. We got the bbq chicken, it's juicy. Modifications were easy. I didn't get any rice and swapped them with a lot of bean sprouts. Was hoping they'd have those broccoli like banchan, but I guess this is Hawai'ian / Korean fusion. Since it was a good experience, we even ordered some take outs for dinner. Got some Gal-Bi. Unfortunately, the Gal-Bi was tough. The Meat Jun we ordered was very good, nicely egg battered, very fuffy and moist, and the dipping sauce was a flavorful shoyu vinegarette, a little tangy and it complimented the meat jun very well. Sides of japchae and sweet potato are tasty too. Comes with 2 scoops of rice and mac salad and good portion of meat jun. It's a good meal for a reasonable price. Garlic fried chicken came in good portion, with a honey like glaze, but I could harly taste the garlic flavor. I wondered if stronger garlic seasoninging would work better. The sweet taste dominated this dish which did not really impress my taste buds and it kind of changed my concept of fried chicken. Somehow I learned the difference of korean fried chicken vs. others. Being that Wow BBQ is closed ... I guess this is the closest place that would have meat jhun. Being that I am from Hawaii and Meat jhun is on the menu almost every Korean bbq place I thought it was the norm. Apparently.... it's not a Korean bbq thing ... it's a Hawaii thing and most people from the mainland don't know what that is. In fact even Korean restaurants don't have it!! Yummy kitchen is Korean owned and they seem to be very nice!! They have many Hawaii favorites like garlic chicken, poke bowls, meat jhun, chicken katsu, loco moco and Kalua pig. My favorite from here is the meat jhun but they could improve the dipping sauce. I think if they add the chili flakes it would be a bit better. read more

Coworker and I came here for lunch during work. I'd never heard of it but she said she saw it on Yelp and was interested since it's Hawaiian and Korean. They constantly had people coming in while we were sitting so it seems to be a nice lunch spot. My order was the Meat Jun, coworker got the BBQ chicken. I've never had meat jun before but an old coworker of mine would say he missed eating it and nowhere around the area served it. When I saw it was on the menu I ordered it and sent him a text exclaiming what I found. On to the food: everything for me was just OK. I liked the Mac salad, but I felt the japchae and meat jun dish were lacking in flavor, even with the sauce to dip it in. Barely any flavor from the bulgogi that was in the egg... One of my favorite places to eat (Ohana Kitchen) has moved down to Renton being renamed to Yummy Kitchen. Great for me, because this location is way closer to home, which is definetely dangerous because I dont have the excuse of a long drive to not come here anymore. Menu is the same, prices are the same. Theyre still serving great Korean-Hawaiian food with Hawaiian servings. With one exception... they added KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN. In short, one of my favorite places just got better. Good Korean Fried Chicken is quite hard to find and Yummy Kitchen serves some that is well above average. At an affordable price, too. So far I've tried the Garlic Fried Chicken lunch plate with comes with 8 Pieces of Chicken, rice, mac salad, japchae, and what seems like glazed potatos. Everything was delicious, but It seems like they replaced pickled veges with the potatoes. I personally love pickled vegetables so that was a let down for sure. I first tried meat jun at a local Korean restaurant in Beaverton, OR, but recently found this place that also serves it! There's just something comforting about scrambled eggs and beef...lol. While we were in this small but pleasant strip mall restaurant the two of the three people who walked in were looking for the former teriyaki place. To their credit, upon being informed it was now "a Hawaiian restaurant" they ordered takeout. We had the chicken katsu ($11) which was freshly breaded and fried without being greasy. However, the sides were too starchy being two scoops of rice, macaroni salad, noodles with a couple of tiny vegetables and kimchi! We also ordered the bibimbap ($11) which was generously portioned, well seasoned and full of delicious vegetables.
