We were looking for some food options late at night and came across this place because hibachi style chicken and poke bowl sounded good. Ordered food to take to my hotel and it was one of the worst tasting food experience I've had. Salmon tasted old, runny, and disgusting. Took one bite and threw everything away as I didn't want to get sick. Chicken was cold and hard as brick, and fried rice was a joke. I don't understand how they stay in business, because they really shouldn't if they're preparing food this way. Crunchy shrimp roll was barely edible. We were so hungry and tried to eat what we can, but threw away 80% of what we ordered. Took some photos but it looks much worse than what it shows. While I was waiting for my order, I saw the cook prepare another customer's order and I should have ran away then. They only had one wok with gas stove, and I saw her prepare a new order when the wok had leftover noodles in it. Never washed it. She put fresh vegetables into a dirty wok and started grilling! They obviously don't care about cross-contamination and food allergies. read more

My team at work chose sushi for lunch so I took the opportunity to try something different than I normally would. I really liked the potstickers. They were super flavorful and had a good texture. I appreciated all the vegetarian options on the menu. I don't eat fish so I was a little nervous going on about what options I would have but I was pleasantly surprised. I opted for the vegetable poke bowl. It was so vibrant and loaded with avocado and other toppings. I chose the spicy mayo sauce. I'll definitely be stopping in again and trying some other things on the menu, especially the drinks. We ordered delivery and everything was packaged well. read more

This is part of a small local chain of sushi restaurants. It is located in the heart of downtown. You will find commercial lots/garages and metered parking within a reasonable walking distance. They have a decent sized dining area with tables and chairs and some bar seating that overlooks the sidewalk/street. They also have a little patio area out front of the restaurant. I had such high hopes coming here, but this place was just ok across the board. The service was ok. Nothing special. They were not the most welcoming and they were kind of slow. There was also a bit of a language barrier that had to be overcome to place my order. I ordered teriyaki chicken hibachi and an egg roll. The hibachi was made cafeteria style and was luke warm at best. It was also was lacking a lot of flavor. I could not taste any teriyaki. it was just "ok". I also got a pineapple smoothie and it was mediocre. My main complaint about the smoothie was that there was a lot of ice chucks in it. For a smoothie, it was not very smooth. And keeping with the restaurant's theme....the egg roll that I ordered was just ok. I was not very impressed. I will probably not be eating here anytime soon and definitely could not give it my recommendation. I was not very pleased with my entire experience from the service to the food. read more

Yoshi is not far away from where I work, but for some reason it fell off my radar and I tried it finally. I like so-called "hibachi express" and this is conveniently located downtown. I ordered hibachi chicken bowl online for pickup. What I liked about it is they let me choose two kinds of sauce from several different options. I got spicy mayo and teriyaki. I think it's reasonably priced considering the location etc. it was very salty, the kind that makes you really thirsty. It is almost too salty, but I like salty. If you are someone who is watching sodium level and blood pressure, maybe you can request sauce on the side. It was clean inside and there are seats available, although most people seemed to just take the food to go. Also, I thought they could give their dining space more cozy, warm, welcoming vibe. The service was friendly. Be careful if you're ordering through Yelp connected with GrubHub. I placed the order and it wasn't accept for about 20 minutes, so I called Yoshi's main phone and ordered over the phone. It was ready within 5 minutes. Unfortunately when I got back to my place, it said the order was accepted. Thankfully GrubHub support worked it out and I got a refund for the duplicate order. It's a walk up style ordering system with a display case of packs of sushi. You order first then pay and wait for your good. They do have some tables to sit at but it was more of a to-go vibe. Yoshi has lots of to-go sushi available and a ton of drink options (teas, smoothies, some milk tea). Unfortunately that's what you get, really, is to-go style/chain restaurant/grocery store sushi. There's 8 rolls to a pack and I was surprised at the amount until I realized the roll is 80% rice. Big wad of rice with minimal ingredients and flavor. I'm a basic b so I got California roll and spicy tuna. The California roll was unfortunately bland, not creamy like the best ones I've had. The imitation crab wasn't mixed at all, just a dry hunk of it in the middle. Luckily the spicy tuna had an orange sauce on it to make up for lack of taste. It wasn't really spicy. I wish I would have gotten more soy sauce since I was mainly eating dry-ish rice. It also cost $20. Rip my bank account. I will gladly pay that for good sushi but unfortunately this wasn't. Ah well. This is a great spot if you need a quick meal. The portions are generous so there is no worry about leaving there hungry. I had to take half of my poke bowl home the last time I was there. The service isn't warm but it is super quick and worth the value. read more

Similar to the location in Geeenwood. Decided to get a bento box which the sign says comes with 4 pieces of California roll, a spring roll, salad, potsticker and rice. I don't know if it was a language barrier or maybe i read the sign wrong but the lady kept asking if I wanted the mixed veggies and what chicken I wanted. Had I said yes to all the other stuff she mentioned, it would have been way too much food for me. The rice was the star of this meal and next time I may get just the rice. read more

It was my first time at Yoshi and I had a good experience. I went around 7 pm in the middle of the week. There was one other person there when I entered. I tried the Hoosier Roll and Pineapple Slushy. As soon a I walked in, they immediately took my order and started on it. They were fast and friendly. The food and service could have been better. The shrimp, chicken and veggies were in warmers, no one was cooking and it looked like the kitchen was closed. This was at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. Unsure if this is the normal but it made us question when our food was cooked. Okay, now that I've gotten that out of the way: this was the blandest food I have ever had. I couldn't even taste the salt on my food. In fact, I'm not sure that there was salt. The carrots were present, and that's the best thing that can be said about them. The edamame was under-seasoned, the sauce tasted like something I could buy at a store, and there were weird yellow chunks in my bowl that I could not identify. The cucumbers were fine, and so was the rice- hard to mess that up, at least. I'm disappointed that I paid $11 for the worst meal of my life. I came with friends, and every single one of us left disappointed and unsated. If you're from out of town, give this one a skip. There are better poke places to give your money to. read more

PLEASE READ! BUYER BEWARE! Save your money and toilet paper! Respectfully, this place sucks. It's like low budget cafeteria food, but even worse. The only thing this place has going for it is the price, speed, and portion. I ordered and paid, then watched the cashier put on gloves to get my order. She literally scooped the ingredients from the covered thermal pans into my bowl and handed it to me 50 seconds after I paid. Who knows when they cooked that food - it was barely warm. The fried rice was laughable, never once fried, and had clumps of white rice in it. The shrimp was the worst id ever had, tastes very old, mushy, and fishy. I am a foodie, I literally eat for fun/flavor, even after I am full and then lay down and complain about how much I ate, only to do it again the very next meal. I don't remember the last time I threw out or didn't finish food, but I literally couldn't make myself finish this food. And to top it all off, as soon as I got home, I had explosive diarrhea. I was downtown on a Friday at lunchtime and decided to check out this new place. I thought it was sushi only but when I got inside, there was quite a bit more to the menu. They have a main order counter and then a separate smoothie station. My daughter got a smoothie and picked her own flavors. She was super excited about it all. The employees are extremely friendly, helpful and upbeat. That was a pleasant surprise compared to a lot of sushi bars where service can be somewhat indifferent. You order at the counter as you walk in and then they bring you each item as they make it. You can take it to go or eat it there. Everything is packaged in grocery store-style sushi containers so if, like me, you order too much, you can just grab what you didn't eat and head for the door. No waiting for a to-go container. Also, no plates to clean up either. As I mentioned before, the menu is surprisingly extensive for a small place that I thought mostly did sushi so I will have to come back and work my way through it. read more

I ordered a shrimp hibachi bowl and it came with meat in it. I am allergic to certain meat, and I also ordered spring rolls that did not come with my order. I got the sauce for the spring rolls but no spring roll. We didn't receive any napkins, utensils, or chopsticks. Overall, a terrible experience. Shockingly awful. Really, really bad. If you want "sushi" rolls that are 99% massive blocks of rice with 1% tiny little sliver flakes of fish inside of them or placed on top - then this is definitely your place. If you want real sushi rolls, like I did, then I would recommend going anywhere else that actually serves real sushi. This place is a TOTAL burn. I can't imagine anyone giving this place a good review. Has to be fake. I was so pissed off when I got these massive blocks of rice with almost nothing inside of them, I almost drove them right back to the restaurant to get a refund. It also took an hour and 20 minutes to get here, so I was starving. And my order was missing two items. I ate the top half of each roll, to pull out what tiny little bit of nothingness was in the middle. Pictured is what my rolls looked like when I was done. Normally there is nothing left. But I can only fill up on so much rice before I'm ready to puke. There were some rolls where I literally had to open it up to find the tiny little speck of fish, just to make sure it was actually there. $60 down the freaking drain. I'm so busy, I almost never take the time to rave or rant about any business or restaurant. I just move on. But this place deserves this review, ten-fold. Working in downtown Indy, there are a myriad of choices and tastes. I have frequented just about every lunch establishment in the city. Most are good, most satisfy the hunger, and most definitely cost 5-10 dollars more then if you were to eat somewhere outside of city limits. Yoshi is the only place I have found that has provided consistent, cheap, healthy, and delicious food. I often eat here three times a week, sometimes twice a day if I'm still feeling hungry on the way home. Not to mention, every interaction with Yoshi staff is a joy. A positive attitude has to be a prerequisite of employment, it's by far the cheariest place I have eaten downtown. If you're looking for a good sushi roll, a bowl of poke, some yogurt for an upset stomach, and a nice smile to turn your day around; come to Yoshi, they deliver on all of it and so much more. read more

I really like the menu from Yoshi. I have ordered delivery on several occasions. The food is very good however, if you want the sauces Yoshi offers good luck with that. Tonight, I ordered extra Yum Yum and teriyaki sauce. Each costing $0.79 extra. This is the 3rd different Yum Yum sauce, I have no idea what the true sauce is. For the teriyaki sauce I received 3 packets of soy sauce. The first few times I ignored it, feeling petty however the 3 packets of soy sauce for teriyaki sauce did me in. read more
