Tried this option in the Garage food hall for the first time and was not disappointed! I selected the shoyu base, chicken, cabbage, and the veggie dumpling. I've been obsessed with the pork and leek dumplings here for years and hadn't had them in a while, so I was excited to get some while in the area yesterday for the Yelp Elite Event at Sandbox VR. I made a bee-line for their stall in The Garage Food Hall and saw that inflation has taken its toll on my beloved dumplings. What was once 5 dumplings for $10 (which was expensive) is now 5 dumplings for $12. It made no matter. I ordered them anyway, and enjoyed them thoroughly. Service was fast and efficient as always and it's amazing how the stall is packed one minute, and the crowd is dispersed in the very next. I just wish the serving size was a bit larger for the cost. I love the menu wall. The whole little set up is very cute. The counter folks are very friendly and quite efficient. Not exactly cheap I had been looking forward to trying the pork and leek dumplings, but so far they had always been sold out. Today was my lucky day... The dumplings are beautiful little morsels of goodness. My only grip is that they are drowning in the chili oil which really overpowers the delicate flavor of the dumplings. I mean for $20, you better get a bucket of Ramen to take home with you. Alas, I had Asian food stuck in my sites and I wanted to give them a shot so I went with the 5 pork and leek dumplings. I would have preferred the veggie dumplings, but they were not available today. In their defense, there was a sign posted notifying customers of menu shortages today. I wouldn't mind coming back a different day to explore the menu more. I was told there would be a 7-minute wait for the dumplings so I had a seat out in the commons area with my coworkers. Only then did I notice that they were all given buzzers from their vendors to let them know when their meal was ready. I thought maybe that I had forgotten to grab one from Lik Dumplings, so I went back over and learned that you just have to stand there and wait for them to call your name. So my coworkers got to mingle while I stood at Lil Dumplings waiting for my order. Not my favorite move on a lunch break, but it is what it is. So high prices, limited menu options, and an inconvenient wait earns them 3-stars from me today. The dumplings were tasty so I plan to return a different day and give them another try. My first Lil Dumplings Noodle Bar experience is in the books! I have been obsessed with noodle and ramen dishes lately, but I have only been cooking my own instead of trying from restaurants. I needed to see how mine compared with more authentic options. The line was short despite the Garage being packed that day. We could hardly get a table of 4 as we got there around 1 pm (lunchtime on a Saturday!) My parents were visiting from out of town, and my dad decided to grab lunch with me from this place as well. I ordered the Chili Crunch Noodles with a soft-boiled egg, and he ordered the Ginger Chicken Ramen topped with a soft-boiled egg (I am not sure if this is the actual name or not!). The wait for this food took less than ten minutes which was surprising because I have seen people wait over 15 minutes for their food from this location on less busy days. At first impression, I thought it looked quite tasty. I could tell the noodles were topped with perfect crunch and spice at first glance. I wasn't as impressed with my dad's ramen. It's probably just not as easy to make that look "exciting". I dug into the noodles after mixing in the soft-boiled egg. Was it love at first bite? Not quite. I liked the dish, but I did not love it. With something this oily, I think I just needed a bit of acid to balance it all out. I wish there had been a little lime or rice vinegar thrown in or on the side for just that. I ended up using a little spicy mustard from my mom's BBQ dish to help with the acid flavor. Not enough to get the mustard taste, but just a dab to get a little vinegar with the noodles. Other than the lack of acid, I really did like the dish. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the soft-boiled egg was marinated perfectly. I think there were peanuts in my dish which were okay, but I think they could have been better if they had been in small pieces. A large bite of peanut was a bit odd in-between chili flavors. I tried a bite of my dad's ramen, but because I am not a huge ginger fan, I really was just not the target audience for this dish. He loved it! My biggest moment of self-reflection on this was when I realized that I genuinely do like my "homemade" ramen that costs less than $3 per serving more than the $15+ individual portions at this location. If I go again, I will probably get something unique that I couldn't make easily at home. For example, their coconut curry ramen seems like something I would try at this place. read more

We found this place on Yelp and thought it was a stand-alone place - imagine my surprise to find out it's in a huge indoor food court type of place! Called The Garage. My boyfriend and his sister both ordered the Dan Dan noodles and enjoyed it. I had to come again for a second round of dumplings! This is one of the new walk-up shops in The Garage food hall at Bottleworks. It's located on the right side of the food hall where the larger bar is, next to Lick ice cream. If you haven't had the chance to visit the Garage, these dumplings are a great excuse to check it out. What I ordered : 4 Leek dumplings ($10) and pork belly ramen ($19) THE DUMPLINGS: So these are by far the best dumplings I've had in a long time. It reminds me of the legit dim sum places I use to religiously visit in Hawaii. They're perfectly seasoned and the sauce to dumpling ratio is on-point. It does have some chili oil so it may have a little kick. My bf usually is sensitive to spice, but he was able to eat it without spitting it out lol. The 4 piece serving is just the right amount to have on the side to one of their main dishes. $10 for the amount you get is definitely steep, but I still find myself going back for more. THE RAMEN is definitely different from any other ramen in Indy. The broth is extremely rich and tastes like there's some Hispanic influence of some sort...which was a surprise. I'm honestly still trying to decide I liked it or not LOL. It comes with the standard sides-green onion, egg, etc. and the noodles are SUN noodles which are a little more thick and dense compared to other places here. My noodles felt a little tough. The ramen is definitely on the smaller side for a $19 bowl THE SERVICE is kind of non existent. The staff literally cooks right in front of you so they all seem extremely stressed and flustered and that energy follows through from the guy who takes your order to the guy who's calling your order out. I've visited during slow times and busy times and on both occasions I found myself waiting for a while. Overall, these dumplings will keep me coming back regardless of the service and price. This place has been on my radar for a long time and after making it to The Garage, I knew I had to try it. The menu is small with a few starters and noodle options. The outside noodle is so fresh and silky and smooth. The inside had pork and leeks, the top had a sauce and cabbage and some sort of green onion. It was savory and absolutely worth the hype. The prices aren't cheap for the portion, but for the quality it makes sense. Somebody else I was with ordered the Duck Duck Noodles and although they said they were good, he said they were EXTREMELY salty. I asked a simple clarifying question about the menu and was met with snark and told (in a very rude way, believe me) that I could look at the menu to answer ALL my questions. 5 words: steam bun of the week. I was in The Garage Food Hall and needed a small snack. Lil Dumplings Noodle Bar stood out to me, especially being a fan of Chef Carlos, the owner. I opted for the $5 steam bun of the week, which happened to be "braised beef, hoisin, pickled cucumber, and peanuts." It was AMAZING. The bao was incredibly pillowy, the beef pulled apart, the peanuts added crunch, and the pickle mixed with the beef for the perfect salty bite. I hope these come back on the menu in the future, but now I'm officially hooked. I'll be back for the Dan Dan Noodles, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Pork & Leek Dumplings and... anything else on the menu. LOL.
