Such a hidden gem. It so such a cool vibe inside. I mostly order food to go (as downtown parking is the worst), but it is always 10/10!! I expected the kimchi to pack more of a punch, but even though it wasn't as spicy or acidic as I expected, the kimchi still delivered nicely contrasting bites to the more earthy egg, mushroom, and bamboo. The food was nasty, but the customer service was even worse. I placed an order for pickup and when I arrived, I decided to dine in instead. That simple change made the staff visibly angry and hostile, as if I had done something wrong. I was treated extremely poorly and rudely, which is completely unacceptable for any restaurant. Despite the attitude and the bad food, I still left a tip. To make things worse, the restaurant later blocked my number simply because I chose to dine in. Food: very satisfying! I will say you just have to know what you like! Food selection and personal preference plays a huge part imo. There's a good variety of types of the dining menu experience to venture into. I started with the appetizer of "Tempura Shumai" (shrimp tempura) and now I get it every time I go. Perfect amount of shrimp meat and that fried crunch that pairs nicely with the spicy sesame sauce! It's a very yummy start and a good choice if you have a filling snack like level of hunger. I tried a few entrees here. I chose more of a rice than ramen entree to start, as I was terrible at matching a menu item to what I'll like texture wise in my noodles. But the next time I went I tried The udon noodles and although they weren't my speed texture wise, the BROTH?! The main boo thing. Flavor is very good. The "Curry Udon w. Karrage chicken" rice was pleasant, I would just request more curry sauce next time! As it was a good source of flavor for the rice alongside the fried chicken and it's own sauce. I'm a lover of cute bottles and love a flavored SAKE, The peach sake is my favorite. It is served with a small cup and lasts more than you think. I got about 8-10 shots out this bad boy!! Ambiance: A minimalistic Japanese style environment with cute decor and wooden booth styled seating. They have TVs that display anime for the anime lovers out here like me. It's perfect to dine in to get some work done. Please note: This place is paired with 2 other businesses inside (Mochi MUNCHI donuts in the front when you walk in & Good vibes cafe upstairs) you order separately from each establishment. First, the service was really good and the space is nice. Clean, has a good vibe. However the food is completely inauthentic and not good. While it uses the traditional Japanese names what they serve you is far from it. Karaage is traditionally chicken thigh in small pieces with a light breading, what they served was a piece of chicken breast that looked deep fried (more like katsu). The shishito peppers were jalapeños best we could tell (they are normally more sweet with a little spice, but we were warned that "theirs" are a 7 out of 10 on spice). The curry udon had a star anise type of taste. The katsu curry came with kimchi. The rice was long grain, definitely not Japanese rice. I could go on and on. When we have Ramen Ray (owned by a Japanese family) and Kizuki (Japanese chain) in the area - it's crazy to me that they would be so far off from even getting it close. I don't wish them ill will, and I hope they succeed, but (in my opinion) they need to refine their dishes and get closer to the authentic (and simpler) way of preparation. read more

So hopefully from the name you can tell this is not a place for authentic ramen. That said, I was hoping for something tastier than what I got. FYI it's cash only. I ordered the shishito peppers, the karaage chicken, and the karai ramen. The waitress warned me the shishito peppers were pretty spicy. It was super bland and no flavoring whatsoever. The karaage chicken tasted fine but they were closer to chicken nuggets than karaage chicken with the crispy edges all around. The ramen was pretty basic too. Broth was average, no real depth to it. Egg was cooked well. They added some sweet sauce to the chashu which was weird and the chashu was chewy and not very tender. The noodles were cooked al dente but which there was a little more. All in all you wanted a lot more from this place. The servers were nice so that made the lunch nice but it's not somewhere I'd come again. read more

I went for the spicy ramen and was pretty satisfied with the level of spice (probably around 6/10) and the slices of pork which were super tender. The broth was savory with a slight kick at the end. It was interesting that they also served it with a slice of lemon- maybe they're going for a slightly acidic tom yum flavor? I decided not the mix the lemon in to preserve the original flavor of the broth. The bamboo shoots added a nice texture and the noodles were well cooked with a slightly chewy texture. If you're not into spicy, you could also get other flavors like their tonkotsu ramen, which is their standard ramen with pork broth. You can choose chicken or pork for all their ramens! They also have curry ramen which had lots of cabbage and a few slices of fish cake. The takoyaki came out steaming hot and crunchy! I only wished there was more octopus inside. Wei ramen used to be one of my favorite ramen spots! I genuinely loved their fried squid rings and veggie ramen. Although the last time I went in, I was genuinely disappointed. I waited for 20 minutes while three people were sat down and had received their food. I was never given a menu or anything. I brought it to two different employee's attentions and was ignored and stared at. In the end, I left for another ramen spot. I would like to have a better experience at one of my favorite places! but the customer service was very lacking. I hope to give them another shot in the future, but for now.. Stopped in here on a Tuesday evening. The shop is cute at first glance and the service was quick. What they do well, they do really well; however, the bad outweighed the good for me here. Pros: The broth of the Yamitsuki ramen was phenomenal. The noodles were so plentiful in both dishes. You could truly have noodle in every bite and not end up with a bowl of broth at the bottom. Cons: Curry ramen broth was pretty weak. The pork chashu in both dishes was so thick and chewy that it was a little tough to eat. Each slice could have been cut to half the thinness. The mushrooms and bamboo shoots tasted like they had been dehydrated or come out of a can--they were rubbery and chewy. The soft boiled egg was hard boiled. I would say the food itself was probably three stars (noodles and broth go a long way for ramen), but I'm going down to two stars because the wooden decor/beams next to us were absolutely filthy. They looked like they haven't been cleaned since the place opened and were literally collecting dust bunnies. It's hard to tell from the photo, but it's pretty gross to look at as you eat. read more
