We had the best experience here! The inside of the restaurant was very clean and the ladies working behind the counter were very friendly. I tried their most popular ramen and we also got an order of gyoza. We had brought our toddler with us and planned on sharing our entrees with him. When they brought out our food they had given us a child's size bowl with silverware that was age appropriate. I have never seen a restaurant do this, and it was so very thoughtful! From the outside you would never expect that this is the coolest little ramen shop. I absolutely loved all the decor and our ramen was great! My brother has been to Japan multiple times so his ramen standards were high and he even really liked it! It is the best ramen I have found in Indy so far. Ramen can be VERY hit or miss. Pulling up to this place you can just tell it's going to be good. The menu is small, but for good reason. They do their ramen well. The Black Garlic Tonkotsu was full of flavor and very filling, and the miso spicy wasn't too spicy, but gave just the kick you were looking for. Both dishes came piping hot. A hot bowl of ramen sounded delicious when I was under the weather on Christmas Eve, so we ordered delivery from Ramen Ray. I was concerned about how it would travel, but as you can see from the photo everything was carefully packaged and all I had to do was combine it all in my own bowl. This is a shorter review as I was only able to do a carry out (This place is 2 hours away from home and I had a dog traveling with me on a very hot day). Order was about 20 mins to be ready, which was perfectly how far i was from them. When I picked up, the food was packaged perfectly and beautifully (see pix). Decided to check this place out for Devour Indy and was craving some ramen. I got the spicy miso ramen and overall I have to say it was pretty good. The broth and spice came together well. Some of the toppings, such as kale, did not make sense to me but overall pretty good. Also had a chance to try the vegetable gyozas and those were pretty fire. The crispiness was absolutely key. The mochi they gave at the end was a great way to end the meal as well. I loved the inside and reminds me of a true mom and pop ramen shop vibe. The staff were very friendly as well and though it did seem understaffed, they were doing a great job. Overall, I think if you want a good wholesome meal filled with ramen, this is a good place. For those who have ventured Marion county and surrounding areas for ramen, me saying that Ramen Ray is #2 may not mean much, because their really are not many exquisite options to choose from. Ramen Ray has been a consistent, no frills ramen spot for me. Their selections are good, and they'll throw an experimental ramen dish on the menu from time to time. My only complaint was going to be that they did not have a tonkotsu broth, which forced me to settle for miso. But I just looked at the menu and it seems they made some changes. They were lacking that for at least the first 3 years they were open. If I go and it's good, I will give them 5 stars; I digress. Concluding: I recommend Ramen Ray for a good bowl of ramen. They also have a pretty good deal during the Devour events. They've also had half-bowl options for those with children or lighter appetites. read more

If you're wondering what that means... The definition is: "made with a rich chicken, fish, or pork broth, the soup is flavored with akamiso (red soybean paste) and commonly topped with stir-fried bean sprouts, cabbage, sweet corn, and ground pork." Just by looking at the ramen, the only difference you'll really notice is that it has corn in it. I personally love this style and have ordered the shoyu and miso ramens. I've been coming to this place since it opened and thought I would be updating a review but I guess it slipped by me. Ramen rays is on 71st just past the Kroger in what I assume was another old restaurant. You walk in, order at the counter and then you can grab a seat to enjoy your drink while you wait for your ramen to come out. I ended up having the johns porter from bier, it's one of my favorites and to see it in a can was a nice surprise. Once my ramen came out, I dug right in wasting no time, My spicy miso ramen was delicious! Flavorful and spicy, the pork belly was cooked to perfection, and the soft boiled egg was awesome. The pork shoulder was cooked perfectly, the Spicy Ramen was jussttt spicy enough without it being too much and the extra noodles we got on the side really topped off our ramen so we had noodles available until the last drop. On top of all this, the Ramen is SO reasonably priced for the amount and the quality that you get. GOOO Okay So Ramen Ray is an American take on the traditional Japanese Ramen noodles. I ordered the spicy miso Ramen and my boyfriend got the regular miso ramen. We ordered the (8PC) gyoza, 2 Japanese pops and 2 orders of mochi. How much did that all cost? Well to be frank it was not cheap. The ramen on its own is about $14 for a full size. When you add drinks and desert it does add up. After tax and tip my bill came out to be around $50 for my boyfriend and I. Given that this was a hefty price for some ramen I can say with 100% confidence this DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! How so? $50 is a lot tho? Well heres the thing, I'm that type of person that doesn't mind paying that much AS LONG as the food meets my personal expectations. Once again Ramen Ray DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The gyoza was surprisingly crisp, but at the same time very soft like how a dumpling should be. The pork in the gyoza was so flavorful and dipping that dumpling in the sauce provided, made my taste buds FLYYYYYY! The ramen had a good chewy texture to it but you can definitely tell its higher quality than packaged ramen. The BROTH was the ultimate star of the show in my opinion. It was spicy, yet sweet, and the different toppings enhanced an extra layer of flavor that made the overall eating experience quit enjoyable. They also include pork and half an egg that is softly cooked. Overall oh my goodness soooo filling and so good!
