To me, sushi boss is the burger king of sushi. You can "Have it your way" they do have a set menu with changing featured items. Ordering is set up like an assembly line where you can go down and add or omit items to your rolls. I tried "The one roll" which i opted out of the sesame seeds. I also had the "Crab rangoon" roll which I left off the fried onion and added crunchy. Both where flavorful. The imitation crab meat was very apparent it wasn't real crab meat lol I had to take some off. The texture of the crab meat was just to weird for me. I appreciate you can get a sushi bowl, which is just that. All your sushi ingredients in a bowl/ salad form. Staff was very good, friendly, and patient. Now, most of the time when I order sushi, the rolls are incredibly tiny, about 5-6 little pieces, so I usually order 2-3 rolls not thinking anything about it. I ordered the Spicy Crab Rangoon roll, the Rainbow Roll and the Surf and Turf roll. Let me tell you...I was NOT prepared. The driver handed me the bag and for a second I thought he gave me the wrong order because the bag easily weighed over a pound. I opened the bag and laughed for a full minute before I paraded these monsters around the office: "LOOK AT IT...will you just look at it!" Whoever is out there making these beastly rolls, you are the real MVP. I was only able to eat the equivalent of 3/4 of one, but I have lunch for the next few days. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I didn't see anything with real crab on the menu. That said, the taste and insane portion sizes more than made up for it. Got some through Uber Eats so not too sure about the ambience at all. Really just went for this place cos I knew it was the closest and I was starving from not eating the whole day. But the rice was not seasoned at all. And if it was, it completely missed the mark. I have lots of dietary restrictions, and the manager helped me with all my questions, so I made the right choices. You get plenty of food. I got "that 1 roll" but had to leave the crab salad off. If I had left that on, I would not have been able to finish my meal! It was named appropriately because it had so much in it. I like the short rib beef, yes in a sushi roll! I had been to the northside location before, but this was my first visit to this location which is walking distance from my office. I put in my order through their website, put in my desired pick up time, and got a confirmation shortly that it would be ready at the time I requested. I walked over and my prepaid order was ready to go so I was in and out in less than a minute. I ordered the OMG roll which included tempura shrimp and crab. The roll was delicious and nicely packed for takeout with ginger, wasabi, soy sauce and chopsticks. Everything tasted nice and fresh and the shrimp was even still nice and crispy. In the heart of IUPUI is this lovely little gem. My husband and I had been craving sushi for days, and while stuck at home due to COVID, we decided to venture out and make our own with the help of Sushi Boss. Thanks to Yelp, we knew they were providing sushi kits to make your own at home with all the necessary ingredients for your desired roll. The kits themselves have enough to make at least four or five rolls, and with the video tutorial on their Facebook page it was so easy!! We had fun making a date night dinner out of it and will definitely be making more of our own in the future. We ordered the California roll kit which comes with an avocado, 5 nori papers, sliced cucumbers, crab, cooked rice, sesame seeds, a jar of soy sauce, and a bamboo roll.
