Nate and I were in Ann Arbor on a sunny, almost 70-degree day in March and I knew I wanted to try to find a spot that had an open patio. It can be hit or miss finding a spot with outdoor seating so early in the season, so I texted my friend and fellow Elite Tiffany S: "Do you know of any places with a patio that might be open today for lunch?" Her reply: "York!!" So off to York we went! I will say that parking seemed a little tricky as it's sort of tucked into a residential area - we got lucky with a spot on the street. They do have some designated parking in front but that lot was full. I couldn't really tell by reading reviews & looking at Yelp photos what this spot was like, but it's an interesting mix of coffee shop, wine bar, and deli. There is also a Ricewood BBQ window and I think a food truck in back. The patio has ample space and I was surprised to see it wasn't super busy. We had just eaten, so we weren't hungry, but they do have sandwiches, cheese boards, salads, and breakfast items. Everything sounded really good, so I would definitely come back in the future. We saw people hanging out and working, so Nate fired up his laptop and got some work done while I sat and read. I loved the murals and art around the patio. Also huge shoutout to the staff - especially the person who informed me that I am eligible for an Ann Arbor District Library card since I work in the city! They were super friendly and kind, which made our experience even better.

Reservations: no Ambiance: I enjoy the various sections within this gem. They have a coffee pastry area, wine area, and different vendors for food. Great open space to study or meet up in groups. Service: Everyone is very friendly. Food $-$$: I enjoy getting the brisket bowls. When I want to just study I will get a pot of genmaicha tea. Experience: Overall great place to read a book or laugh with your friends Audience: Solo Trip [X] Family Friendly [X] Friends [X] Date Spot [ ] Recommendations/tips: I recommend this place!!

A Hidden Gem in Ann Arbor - Flavor, Vibes & Great Company What an incredible experience! I stopped in for a casual bite with some girlfriends after going to pilates down the street & ended up having one of the most memorable evenings thanks to the food, drinks, and the warm hospitality - especially from Jaden, the bartender, who was an absolute gem. Friendly, knowledgeable, and so welcoming, she really elevated the experience. I started with the Bresaola and Cheese board & added a side of raspberry jam (which was recommended by Jaden), a decision I highly recommend. The cured meat was delicate and flavorful, perfectly balanced with the creamy richness of the cheese. The raspberry jam added a sweet-tart brightness that tied everything together beautifully. A sophisticated yet comforting starter. Next up: the drinks! The first was the Wakey Wakey! - a bold, smoky-meets-bitter cocktail with depth and complexity. The mezcal and spiced rum gave it a warm, sultry kick, while the real espresso shot and demerara brought rich coffee notes and a hint of sweetness. The grapefruit added just enough citrus to lift the drink and keep it balanced. If you like your cocktails with character, this one's for you. The second cocktail, Thistle and Thorn, was a complete contrast in the best way - bright, floral, and slightly spicy. The strawberry rhubarb aquavit was so unique and played well with the rhubarb and Cocchi Rosa. The jalapeño, honey, and lime gave it a sweet heat that lingered just enough without overpowering. Refreshing and layered. For dinner, I had the Reuben, and wow - what a sandwich. The corned beef was tender and flavorful, the Brinery sauerkraut added the perfect tang, and the house-made Russian dressing brought everything together with a creamy, savory punch. The rye bread, grilled to perfection, had that lovely crunch and richness from the olive oil, with a touch of sea salt and pepper that enhanced every bite. Easily one of the best Reubens I've had. The ambiance is cozy and stylish - great for a date night, solo treat, or catching up with friends. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu and catch up with Jaden again. Highly recommend!

Despite its flaws and high prices, York is one of my favorite breakfast places in Ann Arbor. The food at York is consistently good. Whether it is something simple like Avo Toast or it's a gourmet salad or sandwich like a Bocata. The ingredients used in the food are high quality so at least you're paying a premium for excellent and artisanal food. I like that there is a beautiful outdoor space which I often frequent to get fresh air and avoid respiratory viruses. There are lots of culinary options in addition to the cafe. Ricewood is located in York where you can get good BBQ and outside there is a food truck called Bao Boys, which I have yet to try. There are mistakes made. Once I made a takeout order and they didn't include the salad I ordered. Luckily I checked in the parking lot and went back inside. The worker apologized and I received my salad. Just a note to check your takeout orders. York is always busy with long lines, so something may fall through the cracks unintentionally.

Something as simple as a cinnamon roll and a bagel with cream cheese and bacon and it's just exquisite. Next time I'll get a coffee, but I've already had my full of caffeine today. This is a great discovery this place and the courtyard is spectacular.

Love the atmosphere for work. The ginger green tea is very good. I also like the caprese salad.

An absolute Ann Arbor institution! It's been cool to see how York has evolved over the years from a small (but amazing) wine and deli shop to a largely expanded indoor/outdoor community gathering hot spot. So many different vibes at York! I just went today to pick up mortadella for sandwiches, as York is the best for quality deli meats and cheeses. Indoors, there's plenty of seating for gathering with friends. Outdoors, there's plenty of seating with heat lamps in the winter. You can get good coffee/tea, breakfast sandwiches, Zingerman's pastries, simple deli classics. They also have cocktails and mocktails, beers and wines. If York's menu alone isn't what you're craving, they have a Ricewood BBQ and Bao Boys on site, and a rotating cast of food trucks. Often have music and community events as well! Check out their instagram or site for upcoming special events. I enjoy their wine tastings. Parking can be a little tricky, but they've improved signage to help. If you can't find a spot in front (small lot) or in the back, there's additional parking across the street.

Quality sandwiches but at a price. Note sandwiches we ordered were cold. Uncertain if they also can be ordered warm.

My coffee was perfect. Just enough sweetness, but not too much. Just enough oat milk too. Why not 5 stars? The food is an afterthought. Go for the coffee, skip the food. Bagels are whole. Not sliced. Huh? That's okay because they must have sharp knives that slice easily through bagels. Nope. Might as well try cutting your bagel with a spoon. Because of the difficulty eating the bagels, they weren't finished. My "Cheesy-P" (terrible name) was just heated up in the microwave. Not much effort involved in that. We think our bagels weren't toasted, but heated up in the microwave too. Blah. A little more effort would go a whole lot further. The protein ball aren't really appealing either, but they might have been if the other food was decent. Coffee good. Skip the food. Seems like coffee shops with more food options, should really take it seriously. I don't think Roos does.

Stand in line to place your order and pay, then stand at the end of the counter to await your items. I ordered a hot and delicious macchiato along with a flavorful eggy cheesy pork sausage burrito. High recommendations! My companion enjoyed his Cortado (pictured) with an almond scone. The scone's almaretto was flavor-forward, but the texture was a bit too cakey for my palate. Complimentary WiFi was available, and for all the people coming and going, the inside volume wasn't too bad for conversation.

The main thing Drip House has going for it is that it is effectively the only coffee spot to sit and study or meet someone right by the stadium (where a bunch of us live and/or work). It is also open into the early evening when a lot of other coffee spots aren't. And we do love an outside seating option. The service has always been just fine and it's a pretty cute spot (not to sound ridiculously nit-picky but while we're here--someone might wanna sheer some of the many dead leaves off the beautiful plant inside though). Also, the banana oat latte they had as a special a couple months ago was delicious. So yummy. Some things I don't love about Drip House: the blue chairs. So uncomfortable. It is expensive and, dare I say, overpriced. The first time I got my $14 piece of ricotta toast, it was delicious. And I figured, fine. It's $14 for a piece of bread with a little cheese and jam but it's so yummy, I'll splurge every once in a while and go with it. Plus, I can't eat tree nuts, so it is one of the few options for me. However, the second time I got it, it was most definitely not worth it. The "whipped" ricotta was just a sad, thin wet layer and there was practically no jam. I get it. It's expensive out here. We're living in the shadows of the avocado toast economy where espresso drinks cost minimum $7 and you effectively can't buy anything for less than $4. But just because you feel like you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* Paying $14 for a piece of bread.... Come on. It's insulting. It feels exploitative. Will i be going back? Yes, because of the proximity and sometimes a girl needs to go for a cute little walk to get a coffee--just to feel something. Would I if there was a competing coffee shop nearby? That remains to be seen. Also the size of the "large" iced drink. Come on guys.

Most recently I came here for a meeting, ordering a vanilla latte and a sweet potato hand pie to nibble on since I hadn't eaten yet. The description of the latter sounded so good, sweet potatoes with black beans and a few other veggies, wrapped up in flaky pie dough. The filling, however, was mostly pureed, giving it more of a baby food consistency which I didn't love. The flavor was good though but I couldn't get over the mushy texture. The black beans weren't pureed in but were few and far between (I think I maybe counted 2 or 3?). In addition to my hand pie I also ordered a piece of the billionaire's shortbread but they didn't ring it up/prepare it. By the time I realized it (I had to wait for my hand pie to be heated up) it was only a few minutes before close so I didn't bother going back up to the counter to reorder. IDK if they were just in a hurry to close or genuinely didn't hear my order but it was a bummer since it did look great. The vanilla latte, however, was quite good. And for a coffee shop that's most important. And what they lacked in substantial food options they did make up for in fun, seasonal drink specials and a few sweet treats like cookies and the aforementioned shortbread. The space is very cute, as well, and made for a really comfortable meeting location. So overall I did like my visit here. I just won't be rushing back here if I'm feeling peckish. But for a caffeinated pick me up and a nice place to meet or chill, this definitely fits the bill.
