Decided to finally check out what people were chirping about and now I know why they're chirping lol. Got the Eggplant with Green pepper and I was surprised by the refreshing texture of the eggplant accompanied by the robust flavor of the green pepper sauce. I came back and tried it again. It is still busy. I would say that the flavor is slightly more American than last time. My friend said that it feels like the flavor hasnt soaked in which I agree. If you look at the wontons in chili oil, it does not look like there is enough chili oil. I would still come back and I hope that it does not continue to adjust flavors to American taste. Boyfriend and I ate here last Sunday and I'm so sad that we didn't try this place sooner! The food was delicious! I regret not taking any pictures, but we ordered the cold sesame noodles, cucumber salad, and the spicy braised beef hand pulled noodles. We split everything and pretty much ended up fighting for the last bite of each dish. The cold sesame noodles were so bomb, probably the best I've had in the US. They were spicer than expected, but the sauce perfectly clung to the noodles. Cucumber salad was a bit too salty (I love msg but it was perhaps a tad more than needed), though we still finished the entire thing because the overall flavor and crispness was refreshing/yummy. Don't even get me started on the hand pulled noodles, if you don't order them...you're missing out! Not only were the noodles themselves amazing, but the spicy beef broth was worthy of drinking by itself lol. Because they're hand pulled, they fill you up without feeling so bloated like noodle dishes normally do. Highly highly highly recommend, but be warned that they fill up fast! We went early and tables were full within 15-30 minutes of opening time. Definitely going to come back for more noodles, and I'm looking forward to trying their Szechwan dishes next time! read more

But let's talk about the food. I love a lot of Asian restaurants in Chicago and love exploring new Asian restaurants, and I must say, this has to be the best new Asian resto I've tried this year. My friends and I just ordered a bunch of different dishes to share because we wanted to try a lot of things, and we were so happy with every single item. The dishes had so much flavor! TBH, I hate pork, but my friends got me to try the pork wonton and I expected to spit it back out, but nope, I had two of them because they tasted so good. Do yourself a favor and try this small restaurant out in Argyle. A few steps from the red line and the bus stops if you don't drive or don't want to uber. Will definitely go back and take my partner who has gluten allergy. The menu does show what does not have gluten. Went for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed at all. The staff is incredible and if you're nice to them and flexible, they'll get you in super fast! That said, they are worth the wait! Nice, clean atmosphere and the food came out SO fast despite how busy they were and was incredibly tasty. We ate here before it was very good. The Kung Pao chicken was good. The Crispy Shrimp with Fries was terrible. There was no sauce and the shrimp were caked in a bland breading which did not seem to be cooked. Even scraping off the coating did not help. My husband will eat anything and he couldn't have more than one shrimp. We paid for everything and told the waitperson what we thought. We came specifically for their popular braised beef brisket noodles and got both the original and spicy. Szechuan cuisine is known for being really spicy, so if you don't have a high spice tolerance this isn't for you. The soup was hot and tasty and I lovedd the texture of the fresh hand-pulled noodles. The general tsos chicken was good too - crispy and saucy. Service was friendly and got us seated as soon as possible. We had a good experience here and the food was good! I was really hoping it would satisfy my love of hand-pulled noodles, like one can get at Xi'an Famous Foods in New York City, but I found the knife-cut noodles just not quite strong and chewy enough. The noodles kept breaking in my chopsticks, making it difficult to pull them out of the soup. If there is any way to toughen up the noodles and make them more chewy, that would be amazing! I would also love to have a knife-cut noodle option with sauce rather than soup. And if you felt like making egg and tomato over knife-cut noodles... that would be so good! read more

Probably my new favorite chinese spot in Chicago! We went for dinner on a Sunday - on the early end (maybe aroune 5:15/5:30 pm) so we didn't have to wait. Waiters were very nice, but as dinner got busier, service got a little slower - not a big deal, but if you are in a rush, I would make note of this. The space itself is on the smaller end, but it does feel cozy and bright (and very clean). For 3 people, we ordered the pork belly with garlic sauce, sweet skinned duck, shrimp vermicelli, and Three Vegetables (eggplant, potato, pepper). The pork belly also comes with some noodles to soak up the sauce, which was a nice touch. Our favorites were the duck and shrimp vermincelli! And portion sizes were excellent. We have heard good things about the beef noodles and the other vegetables, so we will have to give those a try the next time! read more

The only reason I gave 3 stars is because staff would pull the trash bins out full of cardboard boxes and trash while customers were eating, which I thought was unhygienic. Was there not a back door to the alley for them to throw this out there? Or couldn't they have waited until the restaurant was empty? I was like WOW, I NEED TO COME BACK HERE TOMORROW! The jia-jang-myeon was a bit too salty in my opinion, so JUST GET THE SPICY BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP along with other sides! Thai iced tea and mango passionfruit were super refreshing while eating spicy food. The beef shank/tendon/tripe in chili oil was super spicy but I LOVED IT! I could not stop myself from eating the whole thing so by the time my noodle soup came, I was already full.... The restaurant was packed on a Sunday afternoon around1pm but we didn't have to wait. Foot traffic at this place was insane the whole time I was there. Super spacious, solid place with amazing food is how I would describe this place. Excellent food, nice variety for vegetarians /pescatarians, noodles especially in soups are fantastic (if you order them takeout, they may seem a bit stuck together but they will still be great once mixed back in with the soup). Have eaten in once (no reservations taken ; short wait. Can sign up at kiosk for waiting list and then walk around the neighborhood). Low key decor, tables not too smashed together. Kung pao tofu, tofu noodle soup, sesame noodles, cold chicken in chili oil, braised pork ribs noodle soup all were excellent. Saw the shrimp and noodle dish at another table and now know next thing to order. Not at all as spicy as other Szechuan places so I wonder if they are dumbing it down. Decent dessert menu but they don't seem to actually ever have all of them available. The cream/flan dessert came in a sealed plastic cup so I don't think they make it. BYOB for now. read more

So friendly! And the Szechuan-style food is absolutely delicious. They use a kind of chili oil seasoning that's hot and makes your lips and tongue tingle, but in a pleasant way, not the painful kind of lingering heat that you'll find in other restaurants. The Wontons in Chili Oil are so delicious, as was the pork belly we had on a previous visit. We also loved the Braised Beef Noodle Soup. I found the Xinjiang Style Beef slices too gingery for my taste, but it was good, and the beef was tender. Be careful with the "Traditional Cold Chicken in Chili Oil" -- it tastes amazing, but the chicken is full of tiny bones. I don't recommend the hot and sour soup, which is ordinary, a bit too gelatinous, and not as good as you'd get at other Chinese restaurants. But overall, excellent. We're going back to try the duck, the braised green beans, and the eggplant with green pepper. read more

The bill was a little high and reflected the demand on the space which was rather popular. The staff was friendly and attentive, low pressure, and helpful. I cannot rave enough about the noodle soup. I wanted drink it up by the ladleful, and the texture of the noodles was just perfect. I was excited to share with a few friends - but their experiences weren't the best. They sat a table in front of us even though we were first in queue and had been waiting 30 minutes while they just walked in. We ordered a mix of dishes, including a few classics, which I don't recommend. A vegetarian friend was excited to try general tso's tofu since he's never seen it before. It was not good at all. Soooooo sweet and they definitely used their orange sauce. None of us could have more than one bite. My other friend ordered spicy beef lo mein and it came out 40 minutes after ordering. There were 5 tables after us who all received their dishes before he did. And it was very light on the beef and rather dry. Next was the beef bray braised hand pull noodle soup, I think next time I would try the spicy because the flavor was a little too sweet for me but the noodles were so good! We liked the duck but it was very boney which we were not expecting. I will say the vibe was a little hectic because they were so busy. It is a smaller restaurant so definitely go earlier than later. The menu is HUGE with tons of Szechuan options and everything is so flavorful! The Spicy Beef Brisket Hand Pulled Noodle Soup is seriously the best I've had in Chicago - and trust me, I've tried a lot of places. They actually give you a massive portion with lots of noodles instead of being stingy like other spots. But honestly everything here is fire. SO good I'm still thinking about it. Plus, the scallion pancake was perfect. I love that I can keep trying new things from their menu and nothing disappoints. We were so impressed by two of their dishes: one is the pork ribs and the other one is the garlic shrimp. These two dishes are probably the best sold and regarded as authentic among my Chinese friends. Service was great and inside was clean, but the seats are pretty limited, especially during rushing hours.
