I'm a big fan of malatang and I am overjoyed to have another option in the area. The atmosphere was very coherent and the service was pretty good, but the malatang was exceptional. The variety of ingredients was impressive compared to other malatang restaurant. I even found my favorite item, the fish roe fortune bags. This great variety comes at a very reasonable price of ~15/lb. If that was not enough, there are also free rice and fruit for dine in customers. My only criticism is that the classic soup base wasn't as flavorful as I would like, but the sauce bar makes up for that. Hard Pass This is one of those places that display all the possible food elements for everyone who thinks they know better than any chef to select for inclusion into what would otherwise be Pho soup broth. The downside of this is, other than it is lined up as a long line of items for each and every patron to breath on with no spit spray barrier, is the vegetables have all been soaked in sulfites so that they will at least "look" fresh and not tired, brown, or otherwise limp and languid for laying about in non-refrigerated air. The place is popular and trendy though and very crowded, so be sure to come early and fight for a table to sit while you wait for the kitchen to heat up your selections. Otherwise, if you come just into the last hour they will hassle you while you are in the assembly line to inquire if you are going to want your food is to go while giving a hard look because they want to clear the dining room before the appointed closing time which is neither early (9pm) nor late (10 pm), but that limbo zone of 9:30. I've been to Yonny twice now. Both times my meal tasted great, I do enjoy building my own hotpot bowl. I will say this spot is not "beginner friendly" though. They don't help you to understand the process or provide any guidance. If my first time I didn't have a friend who had already been familiar with Yonny, I would've been confused with no help! Their staff always seems to be missing or too busy for you, even when there are barely customers. Sadly we picked a hair out of our food. Boyfriend and I are regulars of Yin Tang and Hotpot Fairy, and were delighted to find new malatang in the area! We came on a Friday night for date night. It was PACKED, so make sure you come early if during a peak time. The process was simple, with waitstaff taking our drink orders and then redirecting us to the ingredient bar once we indicated we wanted malatang. The wall was extensive, with way more ingredients than Yin Tang. Be careful not to have eyes bigger than your stomach! All ingredients seemed appropriately fresh. You then go up to the counter where they weigh your ingredients and you choose your soup. I got the classic herbal bone broth for mine. They also have a side area, where there's several rice cookers (self serve), a mini sauce bar, and some fruit. I found my soup very enjoyable for the price. There was a lot of scum at the top, but I got a lot of fatty meat, so that was understandable. It's only slightly more expensive per pound than other malatang we've had. I enjoyed the taste overall. My bf noted that the soup he got had less flavor/spice than he was used to, but as someone who hates spice, I was more than satisfied. After we were done, waitstaff were quick to help us package up leftovers and offered us complimentary ice cream in vanilla, chocolate or strawberry to round out the meal. The hype is definitely real. Between four of us, we ordered the Suancai Fish, Linyi-style stir-fried chicken, and two 2 lb malatang bowls, which was more than enough to share. If I could redo it, I'd go for the large Suancai Fish since it was easily the standout dish and skip the chicken. There's also a self-serve station for rice, sauces, and even fruit. We couldn't help but think that we're in China because of the authentic experience! We've come here both times on a weekend and we were able to get seated within 15 minutes. Once we came as a party of 3 and the other time we came as a party of 8. I would say it's pretty kid friendly with a non spicy tomato base option, high chairs, and small toys to keep them entertained! With our party of 8, we had 3 kids and it was manageable! The kids sat in their high chairs until we were finished with dinner. Don't remember if they had a baby changing table tho. Parking is also plentiful! Food wise, I was impressed with the rich, flavorful broths! We got the original and the tomato base and both were wonderful. Honestly this restaurant is really nice and spacious. There are many toppings to pick from, and definitely a lot more unique options compared to the other pick and choose hot pot spots in DFW. There is unlimited rice, appetizers, a complimentary sauce bar, and the sweet fungus dessert. I tried the chili oil based soup and it's what you would expect. Pretty flavorful and not too spicy. Will definitely try a different broth next time, but all the toppings were really fresh and displayed beautifully. I recommend trying the lava coconut balls, a mini coconut explosion. We thought the food here was alright, we had got the Singapore laksa and it was absolutely delicious with rice but was very salty but I enjoyed the coconut flavor. They have a ton of different soup base options, and you can build your own hot pot bowl or order a bowl that's preset with ingredients. We each did a build your own. $14.95/lb for whatever proteins, veggies and carbs you want to add! Then you take it to the cashier to get weighed, relay your table # and which broth you want, and they'll take it to you once it's done. :) It's definitely easy to go ham on the ingredients. My bowl was about 1.2 lbs (before soup), and I loaded up on fish/bok choy/etc. Picked the princess tomato broth base (bc I'm a weenie when it comes to heat). DELICIOUS. I want to go back already lol. My go to is Ying Tang as it's closer to my house and it's reasonable at $15/lb. Well, this place is the same price but it has even more selections of meat and veggies. But they also have this desert drink along with rice (white and purple) and some fruits that are all included. Right away, it was a deal for sure. Once we get our food, the broth in both my wife's and mine were a bit salty. Perhaps if you're sharing the dish and pair it with rice, it maybe better, but eating it straight as I had noodles as well, it was just salty. Next time, I may get the lesser spice as mine was quite spicy as well. Overall, it's still a fun place to try. Just wish there was one closer as it was about 40 min drive from my house. read more

Came here on a Friday night and it was very busy! The waiting area gets a little crowded but they give you a buzzer so you could go in your car. For 2 of us, it was about a 30 min wait. The staff were clearing tables as fast as possible but it was a little chaotic. Love the concept of a by weight hot pot. They have plenty of different meat and veggies options which I really liked. Way more than some other malatang places. My only concern/ suggestion would be that they switch around the placement of the meat and veggies. I didn't love the whole idea of any meat stuck on my tongs touching the veggies. I think the flow would be better for sanitary purposes. Other than that, still loved the food. The broths herr are very rich and flavorful. Almost a little too rich! It's also nice that they offer complimentary rice and the open sauce bar.
