It's not just any ordinary hot sauce, it's filled with herbs and spices for a mouthful of flavor so U HAVE TO TRY IT!!! I got their smoked salmon scramble, but also tried my friends chorizo based Benedict. The salmon scramble was very healthy and tasted delicious, fluffy and not too bold in flavor. The chorizo Benedict is the opposite, with much much flavors but it was grounded chorizo so don't expect cut bite sized pieces chorizo like usual. I would give 5 stars for the food, but it was pretty loud, hot inside, and a long wait. Excellent food taste and presentation though. It was 83 degrees though inside. Very busy (not surprising). We waited around 40 minutes to get a spot. Very nice and friendly waitress. Food arrived in good time as well. I had the Nutella Crepes. I would recommend if you are in the mood for strawberries and bananas. Had really rich Nutella inside crepes too. Other picture was Countryside Skillet. Place looks heavily used. Sorting dishes by our table. Table and chair was tilted too so we had to be careful of that and get a different chair. Yolk has simple breakfast food. Pancakes, french toast and eggs and sausage. I'm from Arizona and it would be equivalent to Dennis or IHOP. Yolk are everywhere around town. Plates are prices 10.00 and up. I only wish they had more pancake or waffles options. I would have given them a 5 star! This place was down the street from our hotel and seemed promising. There was a line, but it moved very quickly. Let me just tell you, the portions are HUGE!! You could share if you wanted to. Mmmmmmm!!! This place is so yummy and a perfect brunch spot. The only reason it is minus a star is because the customer service during the wait process not so hot. My friend was not feeling great and we asked for a cup of water while we waited (for the hour we waiting... to be expected on a Sunday afternoon). She said she could only sell us a bottle. I later was able to get a glass of water from a server. (I made sure the hostess didn't see me. lol.) Other than that... the food was DELICIOUS! I just kept looking as servers would bring out food to people. Everything that came out looked so yummy. I ended up splurging (calorie wise) and got the sweet potato pancakes. I got it with a couple of scrambled eggs and sausage. The pancakes came with some cinnamon apples on top. The coffee was good with a variety of creamer options. They also had a pumpkin spiced latte. (I saw this on another table... looked scrumptious). A friend had a frittata and another had an omelet with some hash browns and pancakes. Our table was full of food, but silence occurred the moment it was put in front of us as we chowed down. None of us were able to even finish half of our food (large portions), but it was not for lack of taste. If you are looking for a great brunch spot... check it out. Was craving breakfast/brunch food so we made our way to Yolk! Came on Father's Day so naturally, it was PACKED. They use an app called NoWait which was really handy because we didn't have to wait around to be seated. We ordered the Santa Fe Frittata with an upgrade to the Cinnamon Roll French Toast for an additional $5, the Farm House, and a single piece of the Red Velvet French Toast. This place is pretty much a solid two dollar sign ($$) restaurant but at least they give huge portions. We got so much food, the table next to us asked how we were going to finish it all. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast upgrade was a freaking steal! It was such a large plate, we were convinced the waiter gave us the actual entree instead of the upgrade. It wasn't until the check actually came that we realized we got all that food for $5! The Santa Fe Frittata was mediocre. It was a little bland for my liking. I also wasn't a huge fan of how the avocado was blended into the dish itself. My boyfriend really enjoyed his Farm House - the biscuits were really good! Both french toast dishes were amazing!! The best part about this Yolk is honestly the staff. They're dressed so cute, and are so friendly. They're also really helpful with everything which is a big plus. Make sure you come early if you're coming on a weekend for brunch, the lines get insanely long. The menu is really large, but well organized, and I don't think I've ever had anything that I didn't like at all at yolk. I would recommend the scramblers and the red velvet french toast, so delicious! The 5 egg omelettes are HUGE which is always exciting, I've never finished one by myself. The sandwiches are also quite good. Their soups and salads are honestly very average, so I wouldn't get those. Overall though, this is a really cute place similar to the Bongo Room. read more

The parking in the apartment building where yolk is located is $13 for two hours. The dining area is nicely located and the staff pleasant and attentive. The menu was good. If you are staying at the best western hotel down at grant park, you shouldn't bother yourself with hotel restaurant (a Chinese restaurant). Just go around the corner for this Yolk Restaurant. I'm impressed by the quantity AND quality of the food! We walked in and ordered per the waitress's recommendations (thank you to yolk's employees for being extremely friendly and patience when we couldn't make up our minds) Hey Ricky! Omelet - 4.5 stars It's amazing how this omelet was so fluffy and yet it still held everything together. The jalapeño, the pepper jack and the melted cheddar cheese were the perfect combo of flavor...yum! On top of that, they allowed me to upgrade the side pancake to the pancake of the month (+$3) and it was the best decision i have made for the day. This month was the lemon blueberries (see picture) Their pancakes were more fluffy than cakey with fresh blueberries sweetness (rather than a sugary taste). My ideal pancakes need to be even more fluffy so I'm giving this a 4.5 instead of a 5 Star. Also, i don't recommend ruining them with syrup. Yolk Berries Bliss - 5 stars The best part was the complementary blueberry muffin that i got with the yogurt. The texture and the taste were perfect! I would say it fits into the ideal muffin texture and the taste, similar to their pancakes, has a natural sweetness from the blueberries. As for the yogurt, i loved the balance between the yogurt, berries and granola. It tasted extremely fresh and nothing was too overpowering. read more

I wouldn't call it a tourist spot, but a lot of tourists come here too. The air conditioning is so strong it made my hair fly and head hurt. At first I thought it was just the spot I was sitting at, then I moved to the opposite side of the table and it was still the same. I also watched as some things flew off the table next to me. Since everyone in Chicago raves about this place, we had to try it. Our experience and food was good. I am not inclined to call it amazing but it is very good, at least what we ordered. Since I couldn't decided which one I wanted, I ordered the short of both and I don't regret. Both were amazing!! One of the best brunches I had. The texture of the red velvet was great, the mix of flavors too. The banana pancake was different, their pancakes with the multigrain, almond granola and blueberries were phenomenal!! Kinda crazy how the same restaurant can have different quality of food at different locations, but I guess I should have expected something was up when I came in for brunch on Labor Day and there was no wait to be seated. At the yolk in south loop it takes at least 20 minutes to get a table during a time that busy. My friends and I all agreed that the food we had was mediocre, which is upsetting seeing as the food at the south loop location is so good.
