I ordered the All Star Combo with the Cinnamon Roll french toast and it was perfect. The breading was moist and soft with an amazing cinnamon roll flavor. It definitely was homemade. My friend had the Grilled Portobello Cobb salad and he loved it. It was well blended and seasoned. I ate here 2 days in a row when visiting Chicago. The food is really good and larger portions. I would give 5 stars but it's so loud in the restaurant it is hard to hear and relax. Maybe they could work on the acoustics a bit to bring the noise level down. Also the way they have their lines is very messy and confusing. If they would just shift things over away from the door a bit it would be a lot less chaotic and more inviting when you come in. read more

I know it's hot outside but you shouldn't be sweating in an air conditioned restaurant. Food is always good here but coffee not so much. I visit this establishment a lot and I normally have an amazing time but not so much this time. Once I was done with my meal my server was picking up the plates and dropped on of them right on my side. I got syrup on my WHITE polo shirt and pants. The menu is jam packed with interesting sounding deliciousness. Indecisive and greed had us deciding on ordering a personal entree each and sharing one. No regrets here! I ordered the Tuscan Frittata. SO yummy. It was my first time trying a frittata and I def will order more. It was well seasoned, had chicken, potatoes, sundried tomatoes and fresh basil. On the menu it says goat cheese. I thought the cheese would be IN the frittata, not smeared on top. Not good for presentation and I had a ehhh face BUT the taste DEF made up for it. My friend order the Chocolate Strawberry Pancakes. Looked amazing. Tasted just as amazing. I'm not big on sweet stuff and it was drizzled in chocolate syrup, but it was good. My friend loved it. Now the best part of the meal. We shared the (stuffed) Red Velvet French Toast. OMG. That's all I'll say. So good. LOVED IT. All in all, the food was great. Service was great. Price was great. The yolk berry bliss is one of the greatest breakfast dishes ever for those seeking a healthy indulgence. Amazing berries, Greek yogurt, honey and we get a side of whole wheat pancakes (vs a muffin) The score here is lower due to their coffee service. All the yolk locations have brown cane sugar at the tables and small cups for coffee. You can ask for Splenda but they are weirdly stingy about it and it is just plain weird and very annoying that they are forcing decisions and limitations on such an important and personal preference drink. It also delays the caffeine intake...you come in and they pour coffee. Then they hurry away (it's always super busy) and it sits until you can flag them down again to get sweetener...the cups are small so the coffee has cooled by the time you get attention. I've started bringing my own Splenda Not horrible but not stellar service or atmosphere. We love the one dish and come for that. read more

I came in around 10am on a Thursday. They're already busy but if you put your name on the waitlist via Yelp it helps a lot. My friend & I are here from South FL. We chose this place because of the reviews and location. The service here was great the food however was not. The pancakes had a sort of cornmeal taste? No matter how much syrup I used they just soaked it up. The cheesy grits were rather bland & the eggs weren't scrambled as ordered. I got the banana bread French toast and it was delicious. Granted, banana bread in and of itself is very good so I don't know that I would've felt any different about it had they not French toasted it but it was still yummy. I think using the peanut butter they provide instead of the syrup is ideal. I also got the red velvet French toast (I got one piece of each which they allow you to do and I recommend if you want to try multiple) it was very sweet, which the waitress told me, and nearly too sweet. I think it was good, definitely don't need to add more syrup to this but if you have a low or even average tolerance for sweetness more that one, or even one piece, may be too much for you. I did like it but if I went back I think I'd get the full order of the banana bread French toast. The eggs and turkey sausage I got were good as well. read more

I came to Chicago for a design conference at McCormick Place and I've been here three times in three days and every time the food has been great! First day, I got the Eggs Benedict Caprese - a healthier option with mozzarella, pesto, tomato, and the rest of the eggs benedict ingredients (poached eggs, hollandaise, english muffin), minus the ham. So this is a good halal-friendly option. Comes with potatoes and so so delicious. I wanted to try their french toast so I got a small side of the Berry French Toast. First of all, I love that they do small sides - like just one pancake or one piece of french toast. I sometimes want both savory and sweet in the morning without getting two full dishes and I wish more places did this smaller side option. Anyway, omg the french toast was to die for and oddly exactly how I would make them at home. They come topped with berries, of course, yogurt, and granola. The french toast was cooked to perfection. The second day I went, I loved the eggs benedict caprese so much that I got it again. The third day, I got the Santa Fe Frittata with a side of pancakes. Except I forgot that it's made with bacon and I don't eat bacon. The waiter was so nice about remaking the frittata with turkey sausage. The frittata comes with potatoes baked into the dish and their potatoes are divine. And I chose a side of pancakes because I felt extra indulgent. Their pancakes are soft and fluffy and they come with whipped butter and maple syrup. So good. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for great breakfast/brunch in this area. This is simply not fair that I have to leave Chicago and not eat here again. I came here with a party of seven; I ate the Torero omelette but by virtue of children who were not hungry enough I also partook of the eggs benedict, the corned beef hash, and the s'mores pancake, with sides of bacon and pancakes. Each and every aspect of eating this food is an exquisite experience: the smell, the flavor, the texture, the satisfaction of eating, the desire to immediately bathe your taste buds in another bite of whatever it is you just swallowed. Even the orange slices were next-level delicious. One thing I would not recommend is the coffee, especially if you first spend the morning drinking Peet's and have accustomed your mouth to THAT, the coffee here is thin and metallic, and out of place among the unbelievably scrumptious food. But yeah, among all the things I got to enjoy about Chicago in my latest visit, Yolk is a highlight among highlights. read more

Really bad quality of food. Ordered grilled salmon egg breakfast. Salmon was completely uncooked and hard to eat. Potatoes were raw with no seasoning and flavor. Black coffee served in cup was stinking. Felt like cups were not washed properly. Scrambled eggs were okay no taste of butter with it.
