While traveling in Phoenix, I've been missing Japanese food and was happy to find Yogi's Grill on 1 Washington Street. It's a small, cozy spot with both indoor and outdoor seating--cute and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful. I only saw two people working--the cashier and the chef--and I was genuinely impressed by their level of commitment on a busy Friday night. If there were others working, they weren't visible, but service never felt lacking. I ordered the full-size crunch roll and a chicken/beef teriyaki bowl to go. The crunch roll was so good. If you're not familiar, it's made with imitation crab, shrimp tempura, avocado, and topped with a satisfying crunch--definitely the star of the meal. The chicken/beef teriyaki bowl was just meh for me. The meat was a bit dry, but still decent overall. I'll absolutely be back--mainly for more rolls! read more

My family and I are in town staying at the Kimpton Hotel. Most of the restaurants within walking distance are fairly pricey. Here at Yogis Grill, you can purchase a variety of Asian cuisine at affordable prices. In a word... meh. The good: The location is central and easy to find -- it's right by my work, so it's convenient. The food is usually decent (though I've had a few real misses). Today's katsu bowl was actually really good! So, points for that. The egg rolls, though? A hard pass. They were greasy, bland, fried but somehow still mushy? and forgettable. The not-so-good: There are a few things that make this spot a struggle. First, the layout. The line to order moves quickly -- they usually have 2-3 people at the registers -- but once you've ordered, you're just... stuck awkwardly standing in the middle of chaos. The waiting area overlaps with the drink station, sauce bar, trash bins, and the rest of the line. It's cramped, messy, and stressful when it gets even a little busy. Second: the prices. I paid just over $20 for a bowl, a drink, and egg rolls. For that price, I expect something that feels a bit more worth it -- better flavor, better portions, or any kind of experience that feels like a step above average. This just wasn't it. And finally, the service. A guy blatantly cut in front of me in line, and the employee said nothing. When I finally did step up, I wasn't acknowledged for several minutes. No apology, no greeting -- just a lackluster "what can I get you?" when the person finally decided to speak to me. It left a bad taste in my mouth before I even got my food. Bottom line: Yogis works in a pinch if you want something fast and familiar, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this location -- and I definitely can't recommend it with confidence. read more

Okay, credit where credit is due. I gave these guys hell earlier today for, what turned out to be, no damn reason. Story time. No TL;DR for you! Read. It's good for you. My husband and I visited on 11/21/25 @ ~2pm. I've been sick for a while and it's been a couple of days since I've been able to eat anything substantial. My go-to cure-all in these situations is a big bowl of noodles swimming in broth. My husband and I were in the area and we decided to stop by. Every other Yogi's I've been to has been awesome so why should this one be any different? Cue the husband returning to the car with a worried expression. He tells me, "Babe. I don't know what's up with this location but I asked for extra broth and they just mixed everything in a single container." My immediate thought was, 'Oh hell no.' Nausea be damned. I was NOT about to go back home with noodles that would not be the spongy texture they should be. Side note: I have a thing for only wanting to eat noodles at their proper texture. Weird, I know. But, oh well. Anyway, I walk in and let the person at the register know that this is a to-go order of soup and I would like to have the dry ingredients separate from the broth. This person looked at me confused, trying to understand why this psycho in front of her is asking her to have the staff in the kitchen do something that's already been done. Remember, I'm still under the assumption that these noodles have been mixed with the broth. I'm deluding this because that's what my husband told me happened - so I reacted. You know, the way a rational person would? So this poor worker then tried her best to communicate to the kitchen staff the same nonsensical request that I'm demanding of her. They don't understand either so they come out and ask me to clarify my request. So I did. I asked them to remake the soup to my preference because I didn't want to go home and sit down to some soggy noodles. They obliged and basically remade the same damn order that I walked in with. I could hear some very familiar Spanish obscenities being murmured, and maybe they came from other customers. But, honestly, I deserved them becauuuse... When the person at the register grabbed my order from the window to the kitchen, she asked me to check it to make sure it was correct. It was then that I saw for myself how this miraculous container, this gift from God, was already pre-fabricated to keep the noodles separate from the broth. You know those memes where these mathematical symbols appear over a person's confused expression? That was me in real time. Now it was my turn to be just as confused as they were and all that borrowed energy I was burning through just escaped me. The staff politely gave me my order and I left. Here are pictures of the soup. As you can see, it is packed perfectly. Taste wise: 5/10. The broth was a bit too salty for me and it didn't have the same depth of flavor you can expect from other locations - specifically like the location at Tempe Marketplace. However, they went above and beyond what I would consider great customer service and for that they deserve all the business they can attract. My sincerest apologies to everyone there who had to put up with me today. You all are not paid enough to deal with that. But thank you for your patience and accommodation. Apparently, we got there before closing and there was a very mean very extraordinarily rude employee. They don't wear name tags so I can't call her out here. She wouldn't let people use the restroom even though it was 15 minutes before closing because she had already cleaned it. And then exactly at closing, she just told everyone they had to leave even though they let them order food. It's not like we knew when they closed. It's across the street from the Footprint Center and a bunch of tourists were just there trying to find something to eat. She also locked the gate to get out of the restaurant with a bike lock. People were still eating inside. Some people hadn't even gotten their food yet. She made a big fuss that we asked her to unlock it so we could leave she should not have a job. Ordered a tofu teriyaki bowl with brown rice and veggies for delivery. Tofu had a nice light crisp to it. But the vegetables could've used some seasoning or could've been stir fried. The tofu bowl didnt have the teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds as pictured on the food app, so I called the restaurant. They were kind enough to have someone from the restaurant deliver the sauce separately. Appreciate the prompt action to correct their mistake! 5 stars for Great customer service! read more

This is based off the Uber eats order I just got right now. I ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl asking for extra extra extra sauce because there is never enough with all the rice you get. Also in the restaurant they allow you to add as much as you want. But with take out they will nickel and dime you because they can. Just opened my order and I got one tiny cup of sauce! Damn it! This order would serve as two meals for me but now I'm going to use the one sauce I got on this meal and what's left will probably go to waste. In these crazy times when restaurants are struggling to stay open you should take care of the customers that picked you for their meal. Wish I could give 0 stars. I have been to Yogis grill since they open in AZ mostly in their Scottsdale location where customer service has always been excellent. Today avery different story. Rice taste like dish soap. Manager came out and said I don't believe you. Nothing I can do about thats how our teriyaki sauce taste like!!!! "Soap?" And it was the plane rice no the sauce. Manager said you can request a refund because at yogis thats how we do things. Which I know very well it is not true. We didn't ask for a refund we asked for rice to be replace. 14.00 dollar plate. Wow was I impressed with the cleanliness of this location! We decided to stop by for dinner before the Dbacks game and I'm so glad we did. We were quickly greeted by the cashier when we walked in. We decided to order three chicken bowls, one beef bowl, three drinks and one miso soup. The miso soup was delicious! Nice and hot! The chicken teriyaki was so good and it was not at all dry! The beef teriyaki we did get though, was very very low on beef. We literally received like three little pieces of beef on our rice. Sad, since they do charge more for the beef. Tables were clean. The employee was very friendly and when we asked her if we could join two tables together, she was nice and said yes. Thee are plenty of tables inside and there is seating outside as well. I LOVE that this location has more then plenty of condiments out!!!! This is the first location that I've ever been to, where they provide extra condiments and different sauces! I didn't finish my food just ate half because I was hungry and in rush. I'm not sure about other foods they serve but this item wasn't that great! I guess it works if you're in rush and you want to grab something faster but trust me you'll have better options in the area. This place is a joke. The cashier (blonde man) is so ridiculously lazy, it's mind blowing. I've been here several times with him slamming stuff around because he's in a bad mood. Tonight, I came in at 7:20 & ordered food. ALL of the teriyaki sauces were gone. When I asked for sone, the cashier responded "oh yeah they're kinda put up for night...." & "I'll have to get it for you", he then precedes today STAND OVER US as we used a nasty sticky bottle to get our teriyaki from. Then asked for spicy mayo, as there was none out for us either... he responded with "oh yeah that's put away for the night too""..????? What?!? Is the sauce only available before 7pm? I've noticed that majority of the people who eat at this specific location are the people who work in downtown coming in for lunch. Do yourself a favor and come here over any other food options in downtown. Like most places in downtown, it will be busy but you'll be able to come in and out of here quicker than any other place guaranteed. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura and Chicken Katsu via Uber Eats. The shrimp was perfect sized, easy to eat, and tasted great. The Katsu was equally delicious with a large portion of perfectly done chicken. The sauce was a little sweet for me and I think some green onions would have also made this a wonderful dish. For quick Japanese, I was impressed. Again, the crispness of the chicken was excellent and in large proportions.
