My favorite thing from my order was the purple rice rolls with pickled veggies that were $22 for 3 rolls. Their salty tofu was not as flavorful as other places...it was just missing something. I come here for breakfast once every so often, and I'm a fan. On my most recent visit, I got: Taiwanese meatball: The meat filling was delicious and they prepared the sauce just right. Egg crepe (Dan bing): Light and fluffy with a garlicky dipping sauce. Porkchop over rice: This one was a little disappointing. The pork chop felt over breaded, but not terrible. Just mediocre. Mochi: I got 1 sesame and 1 peanut filled mochi. Both were good, but the peanut filled was the winner. The texture was so soft and the filling wasn't too sweet. Tip: Purchases under $25 is cash only. Was so excited to try an authentic tw place and was so underwhelmed. The egg pancake was just meh. Not crispy, not much flavor. The green onion pancake with egg was ok. Can't taste the green onion. The beef noodle... the beef was so hard. The xlb was sad, all of them were popped, no soup inside. The stand out for me was the black sesame and peanut Mochi. That was delicious. And the soy milk was Yumm. Everything else was mediocre. They gave you plastic utensil which is fine but not enough for the entire party. Also the sauces were in tiny containers and not enough... Great spot for breakfast, brunch, lunch. I like that this place opens early. You can drop by and grab a fresh hot breakfast to begin your road trips. Our first experience here was dine-in not such a great one but our 2nd visit was a To Go Order & that was great compared to the food quality of the other 2 locations being San Gabriel had the worse food quality compare to their Chino Hills location. Their breakfast items are all pretty tasty. I like their radish cake and salty rice roll. They sell frozen dumplings, soup dumplings, and ready made appetizers like pig ear, pig feet, etc. There was someone buying a bunch of stuff from their fridge and she accidentally dropped a drink which spilled. They charged her for it. She must've bought over $80 worth of dumplings, meat dishes, etc. and it's not like she dropped the drink on purpose. They really should've comped the spilled drink. Parking in the plaza is pretty bad. The spots are on the smaller side and the layout is not very good. read more

I dislike leaving negative reviews, but this deserved an immediate review. Lying, poor customer service and bad operational management was my experience today. We were one of the first set of customers for dine in queue to place our orders. As other customers sat down, their food arrived shortly afterwards. We asked the servers for our food when they called out the orders and they said not ready yet. All of the customers after us almost finished their meal. We still haven't received our food. When we asked again, we saw it was sitting in the front in a to go bag. They said it would take one more minute they have to bring it out. I saw the staff taking it out of the to go and placing it for dine in paper plates. Why? Why even bother and that took an additional 10 minutes! The food was cold. I informed them and they said they could heat it up. No thanks. At this point it's been 40 minutes and I'm starving. The worst part is the server and the manager tried to lie to us about what happened. They said that it's because the window is open and is blowing cold air towards the dishes so if they don't serve it right away it's cold. No one else complained about having cold food because their order wasn't just sitting out there in to go boxes. We checked several times about our order, and they not only didn't know where it was but they had the audacity to lie about why our food was cold. Very poor service in addition to the lying, you have to go up and ask for everything: utensils, napkins, sauce, your order. This place has completely lost my business due to lack of integrity and quality. Obviously the food was bad. There's too many other great places for a bad business like this to continue. read more

We arrive around 9:00am and it only had 2 table of customer but fills quickly at around 9:30am. We are party of 5 but only 2 of us arrived first so we have ordered following items: - Salted Purple Rice Roll + egg - Good, the egg is a little dry if it is sunny side up will be better. - Daikon Cake + egg - Ok, this radish cake was a little to watery and egg too dry same as above sunny side will be better. - Egg Omelet - Good the taste and texture with the sauce provided - Beef Sandwich + Sour Pickle - Good, It was flavorful with Sour Pickle and crunchy flour skin. If the owner of this place is Taiwanese they should be ashamed. The food is ridiculously expensive. I got a pork sandwich with pickles and a small cold soy milk for $12. Other items on the menu are also marked up significantly. They are getting super stingy with the sauces too. They used to have an open bar where you can get utensils and condiments. They need to improve on the tea drink and milk drinks. You can either order at kiosk machine or order at counter. Plenty of seats. Service is good, be patientce, waiter fulfil all orders. What's up: Wanted to get an early breakfast (~8 am) and after a quick search around, this was one of the few places nearby that was open. The food options looked pretty good so we decided to try it out. Parking: Located in the Mon-Arc Center, parking is shared among the businesses. Since it was fairly early in the morning, there were plenty of open spots. Environment: According to Google Maps, this place is labeled as a "no-frills pit stop for Taiwanese Dishes." Walking in, it definitely fit the label. There is indoor seating but it looked more like a grab and go type of place since the restaurant was empty. The order counter is straight ahead and the menu is displayed on the giant TVs overhead. The refrigerators on the right have drinks as well as frozen items you can purchase in bulk. There were no lines but we waited a while before the staff member finished up whatever he was working on to take our order. The minimum for credit card payment was $25. After a bit of a wait, our order was ready and off we went. What was ordered: - Daikon Cake (taste was decent, not too squishy) - Green Onion Pancake (it was ok, I've had better. It was also a bit sweet) - Beef Roll (the meat is super crumbly, not a fan of the texture or the taste) - Chicken Porridge (very bland and clumpy) Yay/Nay/Meh: Meh. Overall, the food was just ok. Ordered online through their website and the pick up was incredibly quick. The food was ready once I got there they have a lot of drinks and cold dishes in the refrigerators as well as smaller sweets and treats out on the cashier counter. The staff was really nice and helpful and helped me grab the items that I wanted, there are a lot of tables. It is a smaller restaurant but there's adequate seating. To be honest, my first time trying Taiwanese breakfast is here so I don't think I'm an authority on this cuisine. However, something about the food here reminds me of my time in college, when my roommate worked at a Tapioca Express and she'd bring home popcorn chicken, jasmine tea, and whatever else after her shift. Have yet to dine in, but I place an order about 15 min out, pay, and I'm out all in 5 minutes. I tried the zongzi, which had a strong herb taste and wasn't for me. Every now and then, I crave dumplings and want to eat them at home, versus not at a restaurant.  I've tried various supermarket frozen dumplings -which are awful, ick!  Bleh... While Yi Mei dumplings are frozen, they don't taste freezer-burnt and taste really super fresh.  I loved the leek/shrimp dumplings $25.00 for 50 pieces.  Such a reasonable price.  I was told that they last about 3 weeks in your freezer.   Located in a strip-mall, free parking.  Super casual interior.  Cash only here.  My friend did all the talking in Taiwanese, so I didn't do much of the interacting with the service here. read more

We were passing by Arcadia and this seemed to be one of the only Chinese places open so we only got the Beef Roll and Daikon Cake...they already ran out of chicken jook by 1015!!! Unreal, must be really good. The beef roll: so generous with the beef and had LOTS of cilantro. It was delicious except the portion being 2 pieces was smaller than I thought for $9. The wrap was thin and not too oily. The daikon cake: aka turnip cake was delicious even when reheated. Perfectly crispy outside and moist inside with great flavors. It wasn't as heavy as other turnip cakes I've had. They are doing some construction in the parking lot so that was a bit annoying since it limited parking. The food was disappointing and didn't taste authentic, everything except the fan tuan was either really sweet or really bland, but the person working behind the counter was really kind. We had the steamed rice bowl that even one of the workers admitted without us asking to being very bland and to try it with their sauces- they brought us a ton of different sauces to help doctor it up. The fantuan was pretty heavy on carbs but carbs are my happy place so I was a happy fatkid. One of my favorite Taiwanese breakfast joints. Their fan tuan rice rolls are one of the best in, dare I say, the 626...A huge factor for this is the high turnover. It guarantees the rice rolls are made to order and the Chinese donut inside is perfectly crunchy. A lot of people don't know to order this but it's my favorite -- the salty soy milk. It's loaded with fried donuts, pork sung, green onions, and pickled cabbage. A must get item. Their sausage rice was so reasonably priced as 9.75. The sausage was so good, it pops in your mouth. Decent spot for your local Taiwanese comfort food fix but with room for improvement. Food is more like 3.5 but staff was nice so rounded to a 4. They do speak English well here too. Logistics: Shared parking lot with the Good Fortune Supermarket. Order up front first even if you dine in. This place does get pretty busy so expect a 5-10min or so wait if you're not grabbing something already made from the fridge, regardless if you're ordering to-go or dining in. They have a self service checkout kiosk near the entrance of the store to help alleviate the long cashier line, so you can order there with credit card. They also have a restroom inside for customers to use. Food: + for drinks, we had the almond tea and peanut milk. My friend said the peanut milk is exactly as it sounds - liquid peanut butter. I liked the hint of almond in my almond tea and it's slightly milky. + beef roll: very well seasoned... almost too well. It actually got pretty salty eating this otherwise it would've been perfect. The fatty beef is super tender and plenty of scallion/onion flavor inside. Wrap is packed with beef so they aren't being skimpy inside. Close to a favorite but the saltiness was a turn off. + juicy pork dumplings: not really much of a place you go for food presentation. Food was served and placed on top of plastic or a flimsy paper plate as in the case of our dumplings. Unfortunately I don't think this dish is one I would recommend. There isn't much pork in this and the flavor was subtle. Good amount of soup but didn't stand out to be flavorful. Relied a lot on the ginger and vinegar on the side for flavor. Taiwanese breakfast is a must around the Arcadia / Monrovia area east of LA! I was here this past weekend as this spot was the closest for taiwanese breakfast by the hotel I was staying at. I went with my friend & her parents, and we shared a bunch of little things -- the purple rice salty fantuan, egg omelette, cold soymilk, and the green onion pancake. Their cold soymilk is really good and fresh -- probably the best I've had since being in Asia last year. The portion sizes here are pretty big and can be easily shared, especially if you want to try multiple things. Between the four of us, we had a decent sized breakfast just under $30 total. I ended up ordering a sesame paste mochi and another fantuan to go because I liked it so much and thought it would be a good snack on the road for later. There are other items on the menu I wish I tried if I wasn't so full, like the oyster omelette and the beef noodle soup. Service was really fast around 9:30am on a Sunday. However, I was disappointed the purple rice tasted crunchy because it's not cooked through. The red bean bun was just ok. It's rather dry maybe they microwaved it.
