Came here as a halfway point just to meet some friends for dinner. The outside had me nervous but even I know great food can come from some shady looking places. The place seemed very authentic and there were a lot of great options on the menu. My husband and I got the fruit wine and it was very sweet and delicious. I got the bulgogi stew and my husband got the bulgogi dish. The food came out very hot and smelt delicious. There was also a bunch of sides for the table that come out with them. Bean sprouts, kimchi, broccoli, and cucumber salad. All were very good. The stew was amazing. Super filling so I couldn't finish it but I wish I could. We were visiting from out of town and stopped here for lunch, and we're so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. We especially enjoyed the side dishes--they were fresh, flavorful, and complemented the meal perfectly. This small family establishment is delightful. Not an AYCE but A large menu with plenty of flavors. Typical of those mom and pop restaurants in Seoul. We tried a couple dishes and we were not disappointed. Along with the sides and "fresh" soju we were served enough for lunch and take away dinner. Such a wonderful, authentic spot in the city for Korean food! I came one evening with a friend and we had a great time. It's a casual spot with a great menu. Our orders were taken pretty quickly. My friend ordered the bibimbap. She loved how fresh and delicious it was. I got the spicy beef soup (per my Korean friend's recommendation). It was divine! I'm not sure if they downed the spicy level, but it's definitely a tolerable spice. I especially loved the noodles in it. I was really happy with the banchan they brought. The kimchi was my favorite. They had a lot of seating available. It's located in a strip mall so there was a lot of free parking available out front. This spot is great for take out or dine in. Yewon has some very delicious Korean Fried Barbecue Wings! The sauce is so pleasing with a great blend of sweet and spicy. I always order spicy. Typically I call ahead to place my order and it's ready within 20 minutes. It's a little drive from me but well worth it. I have frequented this place quite a bit lately and have been only disappointed by the rice. I love rice and the texture was crunchy. It appeared very overcooked. I couldn't even eat rice leftovers the next day because of the texture. Everything was so tough/hard. Hopefully that improves. Im giving it 3 stars because despite the wings being delicious, they gotta clean up in the actual restaurant. The restaurant is small and quaint located in a shopping center. Im not a fan of the messiness next to the cash register when you checkout. You can see tennis shoes, and a bunch of other items stored up front. This is not very pleasant to the eye and likely not sanitary. The food is good so I try to trick my mind to visualize something different. It's easy to access and free parking is available. I can't believe this was my first time here!!! Probably best for my wallet lol cause the meal we had was delicious! It was a lovely quiet Sunday so we were sat and waited on immediately. Lots of takeout orders, which is wonderful to see for such a great restaurant. The inside is clean and spacious with good sized tables for the sharing that is about to occur. Where we messed up. I think the items are family style. We ended up each ordering Bulgogi, and it was a lot of food. I had just ran a half marathon so I scarfed it all down no problem, but I will say the portion is enough for two to share. I also loved that you could get refills on the sides (except rice). I was afraid that the portions set was all we got, but was happy when we got more of the yummy veggies! The bulgogi was so flavorful!! Nothing extra needed. Went perfectly with the tangy veggies. We also tried the Tteok-Bokki which I've seen all over the internet but have never had the opportunity to try. We did the classic and added cheese. It was pretty good. Not my personal type of flavor but I can see others loving it! I did love those thick rice cakes. I'd love to try those in another sauce cause the mouth feel was good. Great texture. Favorite korean restuarant in richmond! Got this place recommended to me from a korean friend who lives in midlo and he said, after his own family's cooking, this place would be next up. I was super happy with my meals here. The tofu soup had so much flavor. From the chewy noodles of the japchae to the crispy rice of the bibimbap, i was in heaven. Ye Won is my favorite Korean restaurant in the greater Richmond area. The food is delicious, the staff is lovely, and the variety is excellent. There is a huge selection of banchan to choose from, which is probably my favorite part of Korean food: all the lovely side dishes. I like to stock up from their refrigerated case, but there is always an assortment included with our takeaway dishes too. Their tteokbokki is excellent. The rice cakes are perfect--tender yet chewy, and the sauce is spicy and flavorful with bits of veg to accent it. We order with the fish cakes on the side because we dine with vegetarians, and they are always so accommodating. I generally only order bibimbap when dining in because I love the way the rice crisps at the table, but when we had Ye Won's takeaway bibimbap, it was exceptional. The restaurant really has a way with packaging to-go orders to keep them perfect for the trip. I have always enjoyed everything that I've had from Ye Won, and I have my favorites that I keep coming back to: the spicy rice cakes, seafood pancakes, and kimchi pancakes are some of my favorites. It's definitely somewhere where I will ultimately try everything they offer. It's always so good. read more

I'm happy I found an authentic Korean restaurant in the area! It's a mom and pop place with indoor seating and a selection of packaged items to take home. I've had soft tofu soup at some major cities and I found Ye Won's to be on par. The spice level was just enough for me and I don't have a high tolerance. The fried dumplings were fried so perfectly and the meat was juicy. I went on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is a nice neighborhood feeling place to eat and you will see that it is clean and the attention to the authenticity of their dishes is at the forefront. Great find! The restaurant looks a bit odd at night because of the lack of parking lot light, but the front is brightly lit. The food was delicious and we were seated immediately. The menu had exactly what I wanted, soft tofu soup, but I anded up with a beef and rice cake soup. THe banchan waas good - I ate it all. And they brought me some more. I wouldn't come here if it wasn't for mom, she's much more understanding and patient. There are a ton of Korean options in NoVA, but we wanted to get a little farther in our drive; so we designated Midlothian our halfway and lunch point. The reviews were good, so we gave it a shot. Authentic Korean cuisine and friendly older staff made for a good experience. It's a little pricey (but so is everything nowadays). We ordered the fried mackerel and soft tofu stew for me an my 8yo. Two mackerel filets were quite large and we were able to take one for the road. My older son ordered the sulung tang and my wife had the daegu tang (cod stew). We also ordered the seafood pancake as a shareable appetizer. Nothing out of this world, but good quality in an area where that's bit of a luxury. read more

Funny thing, I was craving Korean food and happy to have found this place. You can easily mistaken this place for the Mexican restaurant it seems to share the building with. Inside feels comfortable, nothing special or trendy. We were seated promptly for dinner on a Saturday night. We got a a seafood pancake, the black bean noodles, soft tofu soup, kim chi jigae, and the spicy pork backbone soup. I was surprised on how big their portions were. Everything tasted pretty authentic! Coming from NOVA where there is no shortage of Korean restaurants, this place would have fit right in. Judging by the diverse crowd, everyone else seems to know this is a good place to eat. If I had to nitpick, the service was pretty slow, but they are friendly and do not mind if you wave them down. A very traditional mom & pop Korean restaurant. I"m not from Richmond and the Korean Population is much smaller there than say NoVA but food was good and Banchan was great. The only downside is that there is no table cooking for korean BBQ. I'm Korean and got the Duk Mandu Guk. Spot on and I ordered for my two white friend bulgogi. Those came out on a sizzling platter and were good. The only thing that was wrong was that I didn't get rice with my dish, which was very surprising. This is THE best place to get bulgogi! The serving size is plentiful and it's absolutely delicious! If you dine in, there are tables that can accommodate a small group. It's been 10 years since my first review of this amazing restaurant and I've seen them through several owners and servicing levels - counter service or table service. And guess what? They are still awesome and on a short list of delicious Korean restaurants in the RVA area! The owners are always gracious and the food is always fresh and delicious. This visit I enjoyed the Godeungeo Gui (Grilled Mackerel) and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful and moist, and comes with your choice of a small Sundubu Jjigae (Soft Tofu Soup) or Kimch Jjigae (Kimchi Soup) along with various Banchan (side dishes like Kimchi, pickled radish, etc). The soup was delicious and super flavorful, but ask about the ingredients if you have a seafood allergy. Korean custom is if you finish one or more of your side dishes while dining they will give you more if you ask. If you are looking for well done Korean food without a long trip up 95 North to Northern, VA then Yewon is where you should land! Remember, they are closed on Tuesday's. read more
