    Tom Yum Soup
    Fooddogsawesome M.

Update: I have now ordered from fresh wok at least 5 times. I have found there is a lot of inconsistency in the food and quality of food. For example the first two tone I ordered drunken noodle I love it, thought it was good enough to stand up to most Thai restaurants. The third time it was so unbelievably overcooked that the noodles turned to mush/paste as I tried to pick them up with a fork. It was awful, gummy and weird, the worst drunken noodle I've had. The first two times and the fourth time I ordered Tom yum soup it was yummy! The third order I received it was weird... like they mixed 1/2 Tom yum with 1/2 Tom Kha. Maybe they were running out of Tom yum and topped it off with Tom kha? I dont know, it wasn't so great. Most of the time I order food from here my stomach gets upset the next day, not too surprised but the last time my stomach was pretty bad, like more than I should have been from just a little greasy egg roll or something. Overall I still like this place because of the variety and the good dishes have been really good. I just know now when I order it's likely going to be hit or miss.

Decided to take someone's advice and not just drive by. Took my family of 6 here and we were fabulously delighted. The Mongolian beef was our favorite. Spring rolls were also a hit! Do yourself a favor and enjoy!

General Tso Shrimp with fried rice and half eaten spicy shrimp roll !

This place closed down because they had a fire and they just reopened about a month ago. I work down the street and decided to come in for lunch. I had a spicy shrimp roll which was so good and the general tso shrimp and fried rice. The most important thing is the place was clean and everything is new and the food was fresh hot and delicious. The customer service was great too now I know where to get good Chinese food on the east end of Richmond! I think everyone should check them out

Good experience here. The menu is vast and holds a pretty good variety of dishes from Chinese, Thai to Japanese influences. The food is alright with no small portions here! I only had Shrimp Lo Mein. It had a good combination of color and plenty of shrimps with vegetables immersed in noodles to add flavour and texture. Overall: friendly staff. This place is a decent Asian restaurant. Food size portions are very big. Oh, delivery and online orders are available. There was lots of dishes that I wanted to come back and try.

Let start off by saying I don't know why this place is not packed every day ! . They own up to they name " FRESH Wok "the restaurant is clean, quiet and really nice service . Everything is fresh made to order which I love . We started off with steamed pork dumplings. The dough was made fresh and the dipping sauce was sweet with a small kick and the dumplings was a nice size . I ordered pork fried rice with general Tso chicken ! AGAIN made fresh ! My chicken was nice and crispy . They was not stingy with the sauce nor the portion ! My pork fried rice and big pieces of pork in it , it was not like the diced of pieces of pork , it was really nice size pieces of meat in my rice which I loved . My son order chicken lo mein and he really liked it , he could not finish it because it was a huge portion . I didn't taste it but from watching him eat he really liked it . My husband order Hunan chicken extra spicy with a side of jumbo chicken wings . I'm assuming my husband really likes his dish because he cleaned his plate lol . And when they said jumbo chicken wings they really meant jumbo ! They was nice and crunchy . Overall I would definitely visit again ! And i need others to as well !!!! High quality food for a great price !!!!

The sign says "closed for repair," but I'm guessing that this closure will be permanent.

...and we're back! FW has been closed for somewheres about 12 months. Today they finally reopened. I decided they deserve a second chance, so I stopped in late in the afternoon. Looking around, it looked like the same old FW. So I asked, "What has changed?" The man told me they got unfired. Huh? I thought perhaps he meant a change in personnel. Nope. Apparently they had a significant fire about a year ago. Not so noticeable in the dining room, but lots of damage (and repairs/refitting) in the kitchen. He said the floor is new, but not much else that I would see. Okay, so I placed my order: - Egg Roll - small Hot & Sour Soup - small Pork Lo Mein Ten minutes later I'm on my way home. At home, first the Egg Roll. With mustard. Super good. I think I could have eaten 3 of those. Then the Hot & Sour Soup. With homemade crispy noodles. Very, very good. And Pork Lo Mein. I've never had PLM bad enough to throw out, but this may be a first. Ill flavor, and tastes like it was prepared yesterday. Fresh Wok made a medium good first impression (again). So I'll forget my disaster on 18.01.04, and resume using FW as my primary Chinese bistro.

    Double Dragon with white rice

Traveling for work in the Richmond, VA area. Staying at a hotel with room service but figured I'd get out for a bite to eat. I will say I looked hard to find somewhere that wasn't a McDonald's or other fast food joint as I like to eat a decent meal. I stumbled upon Fresh Wok as the sign kind of stands out in the outdated shopping center it is in front of. The place is quiet. I believe I was the only customer at the time. The owner or manager had her child there studying. Not atypical to me as I grew up in the Asian culture and this is a norm for this heritage. I ordered the Gyoza for an appetizer and the double dragon for entree. The gyoza was actually pretty good. Very fresh as it burned my mouth upon first bite. I am half Japanese so I was skeptical about ordering them as my mom prepares these at home and they're delicious. It is supposed to be pan seared on the bottom and steamed on top. These are more like a three sided pan fried gyoza. Still pretty good though. The double dragon was beyond filling, enough to share for two. It was half chicken and the other half shrimp and vegetables. Shrimp was cooked correctly and not overly rubber as if over cooked. The sauces both meats were in tasted delicious. I would come back again as it was a nice freshly prepared dinner around the airport. The area fresh wok is in may not be amazing but worth a few minute trip to grab lunch or dinner before heading to the airport or if you are staying around the airport. Thanks for the meal Fresh Wok, and good luck with your reopening!

The Thai food here SLAPS! The dining area is fairly small, maybe about 10-12 tables, can see it filling up pretty quickly. Our server was super friendly and attentive (forgot her name) and was so nice to our noisy toddler haha. Food came out at pretty good pace and app, entrees and food didn't all come out at the same time which was nice. You HAVE to get their Thai sausage appetizer - If they made this an entree, I would get it every single time. The sausage is perfectly balanced with lean and fat and packed full of Thai flavor and spices. For my entree I got the Thai fried rice with chicken and this portion is HUGE, was able to take some home and easily serve it as another meal. The fried rice was so tasty and fried chicken was perfectly fried and came with a nice sweet and sour sauce too. My wife loved the pad se ew and got to take home her food as well. If this place was closer to us, it would be not good for our wallets. If you want delicious and authentic Thai food, look no further than Yak Yai!

I have heard good things from colleagues, some of them state that this is their favorite ramen in Richmond, though I have to say, I'm not convinced this place deserves their high praise. When we arrived, we ordered a drink at the bar, but were quickly seated thereafter, and our drinks that we ordered at the bar simply never arrived. When we spoke to the server about this, she seemed confused, and appeared to be somewhat new, and ultimately did not honor that happy hour prices of our drinks that ended up showing up 30 minutes later. Furthermore, one drink that I ordered was regular price, but the price listed on the menu was incorrect, and again the server would not the lower price that was printed on the menu. I was not informed of this error until the receipt was printed. The ramen itself was fine. I've had better, I've had worse. I felt like the broth itself was overall way too salty, and lacked the depth the flavor that I was seeking in a ramen broth. The noodles were well cooked and al dente, and the toppings were a nice addition. All in all, my experience here was rather disappointing, and I really hope that there's better ramen in Richmond.

Everything sounded good and everything I tried had excellent flavors. Prices are about what you'd expect. Tons of variety in sushi alone, but the menu is so huge that it can definitely be overwhelming. I'd recommend choosing one section and committing to choose from within it because it's very overwhelming otherwise. It's quite small inside, so you'll be very close to the table next to you. It's definitely not the place if you're bothered by close proximity to others or if you are uncomfortable conversing in close proximity to the strangers next to you. If you have any issues with strange people being near you, you may not be able to tolerate this place. I really loved the ceviche with the soy sauce, green onion, jalapeno and sesame seeds. It was very flavorful! This particular ceviche was in a different place on the menu. Just a heads-up, I had a great waiter who informed me that the tamago has gluten in the binder, so definitely bear that in mind if you have gluten issues, as opposed to simply reading the menu and judging by that. The Tina roll made gluten-free was delicious. Somehow, there's gluten in the spicy sauce so, unfortunately, that's part of the dish. I really would've enjoyed the spicy sauce on the sushi, but appreciated the waiter's forewarning that the spicy sauce has gluten so that I didn't get sick. As for service, it was exceptionally warm and welcoming staff, very genuine. The waiter was excellent, and he even gave a recommendation without waiting to be asked, which I love, and his recommendation for the soy-based ceviche was wonderful. It had a surprising and very much-appreciated bite from jalapenos. The more traditional ceviche had a clear sauce with sliced jalapenos, and that was good too. I love that this place isn't afraid of punchy spice. There are a number of spicy options, and they're never dumbed down to please everyone. The fish didn't taste quite as clean and fresh as I'm used to, but the flavors in all of the dishes were amazing! No one got sick or anything like that, but the flavor of the fish itself could've been better in that sense.

I had only planned on spending $60 or so but ended up spending $140 including a great tip for my waiter. I got the Fried Chicken Banh Mi, Dan Dan Noodles, and my guest ordered the Brisket Pho, and Singapore noodles alongside a Mojito and their coconut ice cube drink (blanking on the name). I loved every bite of my food. The Daikon Radish was the highlight of the Banh Mi and I was in love with every bite. Visibly dancing and gleaming with joy while eating + the great music being played also helped. I didn't eat my sandwich until it got cold as I like to finish a dish before trying another. I started with the Dan Dan noodles and had to drink 3 of the liters of water by myself to finish my meal . I took my guest's peppers and my peppers and crushed them up into my Dan Dan plate with all the seeds that came with them. In addition I also used all the chili oil paste it came with as well. It was so damn great I enjoyed every second. My guest loved their pho and didn't stop eating it and ate half of their Singapore noodles before getting full and having to take it home. They absolutely loved their drinks and it was so fun to watch the bartender make the drinks. Two shakers in hand mixing the drinks and oh boy were they strong . We will definitely be back!!! Oh and they also had chopsticks for us to use and we ate our entire meal with them. I knew I was in for a whirlwind of flavor when the ethnicities of the cooks matched the restaurant and patrons of color from Pakistani, Black, Indian, Korean, Thai, and more were dining in . Only downsides for me personally were the Singapore noodles but it wasn't my dish. I tasted them and didn't think they were for me I usually prefer a different ratio of seasoning for my Singapore noodles. My guest whose favorite dish is Singapore noodles quite adored them. Though they did say the Singapore noodles I make at home are better they still crushed it and the next morning woke up and crushed the rest with a smile on the face . Only thing I didn't like was the pho but that's my personal taste getting in the way. I don't like fish based broths but my guest ate every single last dropped and loved it! So if that's your alley go for it!!! 10/10 will try again!!! P.S. please tip the staff graciously they work so hard. If you're going to order a $100 worth of food don't be the person not tipping or tipping $10 when the service was excellent. Yes tipping cultures shouldn't exist but until they're paid a fair wage please continue to do so. I really hope this restaurant doesn't sell out like other restaurants (En Su Boca )

I felt slightly anxious at first, being that we were in a cozy two-top amongst the fray, but it subsided quickly because everyone was respectful and reasonably quiet. We ordered the veggie spring rolls to start, and I had the Chinatown Ramen, and my partner had the Chicken Fried Noodles. The appetizer was hot, savory, and spicy with the duck sauce and hot mustard mixture. If you like milder sauce, do not mix it. The entrees came out within five or so minutes of the appetizers, which seemed quick for a busy night. The ramen was spicy, hot, and filling. I was only able to finish about half. We will be enjoying those leftovers tonight. My partner said that her noodles and chicken were well-seasoned and delicious, too. Looking around the restaurant, it is clear that they support the local LGBTQ+ community, and it is even labeled as a Safe Space on the beautifully manicured, makeshift chalkboard/menu/posting board.
