Went here with a couple friends last night for dinner and had a great time. There were plenty of different table sizes with single or double grills so they can definitely accommodate groups of various sizes. We ordered the all you can eat bbq and I'd recommend this to anyone trying Korean bbq for the first time. The service was quick and we were able to try multiple meat options. The beef ones were the best out of all the ones we tried. It's probably a good idea to stay away from the seafood options as the squid we were served was overcooked and rubbery. We were given the option to cook our own meat and did this initially but then allowed the servers to take over after our second round of sliced brisket. If you need a place to socialize over dinner while putting meat in your mouth this is the place for you. read more

I loved coming to Korean Garden with my friend. We ordered the Korean BBQ Combo B. This came with BulGogi - marinated beef sirloin, ChaDolBaeGi - thinly sliced beef brisket, Saeng SamGyeopSal - sliced pork belly, Dak BulGogi - marinated boneless chicken, Saeu Gui - marinated jumbo shrimp, DaeJi BulGogi - spicy marinated sliced tender prime pork, and an assortment of banchan. The lotus and corn cheese were my favorite. The combo was too much food for two people. Thankfully we were able to take the leftovers home. This combo is good for three to four people. It came out to about $90, which was worth it with how much food we got. The servers cooked our food for us on the grill. It was nice to sit back, relax, and eat. Their spicy sauce wasn't spicy enough for my friend. When she mentioned this our waiter said they had a spicier sauce and warned us that it was SPICY!! He brought it out and she adored it (it was indeed SPICY, think leftover burn for 15 mins kind of spicy). The food was not only plentiful, but tasty. I took my mother here to celebrate her birthday. We've had awesome experiences at similar restaurants in the past and d wanted to try this one out. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. All of the staff was very attentive and friendly. This BBQ spot was a little different than I'm used to since the wait staff cook the food for you. Previously, at other places I've cooked my own meat so that took a little getting used to. I found myself feeling like I had done something wrong when I went to place some meat on the grill and the waiter came over to takeover. They have a nice selection of meat and the taste was delicious. All in all it was an enjoyable experience and worth the price. I look forward to future visits. Second time I've been to. I went once in a quick trip to Richmond and had a La carte dishes. I'm obsessed with Tteobbokki and theirs is really good, wish it had more sauce but still amazing! This time I tried the "all you can eat bbq" and it's soooo worth it! So much food! A lot of meat option, lots of banchans, rice refill. I have been to a dozen Korean restaurants both here in Richmond and N. VA. We didn't try their BBQ buffet so I can't comment on that. But, for dinner dishes, I felt like it is a rip off. I would say the food and the side dishes taste ok but no surprise. My biggest problem is the portion of real ingredients they really put in. We ordered seafood pancake and they gave you a lot of flour, onion and scallion but the seafood is just a tiny little bit...like I have to use magnify glasses to find them...where are the shrimps?! The same goes with other dishes like a lot of tofu but very little protein. In my opinion, you only get 70-80% of the "real meat" here, compare to other restaurants. In addition, be aware, they charge mandatory 20% tips across the board. Definitely not coming back!! read more

I am used to a different KBBQ standard because I am from the DC metro area. That being said, it definitely does not come close to that standard but for a Richmond standard, it's alright. (Note: another Yelp reviewer labeled Gyu Shige in Mosaic in NOVA as Korean BBQ... that is categorically false. Gyu Shige is a Japanese BBQ / Yakiniku restaurant, NOT Korean BBQ.) So glad I finally realized this was an AYCE kbbq place! Came on a Tuesday night, and we were seated right away. The food itself was great, I left full! I also encountered the confusion with pork belly others mentioned. I remember ordering thin pork belly, but what came to us was thick, no cuts. When I asked the lady said "yes it's pork belly". So maybe one staff doesn't differentiate the pork belly -- but they all taste different. I will say, there was another big party (6-10) next to us -- but since I was empty I didn't expect service to be as slow as it was. Another peeve is that it was AYCE for meat -- but I was charged extra for more rice and steamed egg. He did tell me this when I asked for more, but still disappointing. We love Korean BBQ so when we found out there was a restaurant in Richmond we had to try it. This place also has AYCE (all you can eat) available and there are 2 set prices and menus to choose from. The cheaper option doesn't include beef and you have to have brisket if you're eating KBBQ!! It's so good!! We got our tables in the back room and we all opted for option A for all you can eat. YUM! The brought all the little side dishes out and the rice. We also got the steamed egg and the cheesy corn. The server brought out the meats and began cooking our food. It was sooo good. Since it's AYCE we just kept ordering different meats to try, our fave was the brisket, marinaded pork shoulder and the pork belly. We also had the same experience as the other reviews. We asked for THIN pork belly (cause i like it thin and crispy) however when we got it it was the thick cuts and they just cut it into smaller pieces, yah not the same! That didn't stop us from eating tho. The sides were also refillable however the steamed egg and the corn was extra if you wanted more. At the end they gave everyone the little yogurt drinks which the kids loved. The inside and outside could use some updating and renovations but the food is good!! Korean Garden was recommend to me by a friend as they had heard i was fond of Gyu Shige which is a Korean barbecue place in Mosaic. The menu was a little bit confusing as me and my partner were not sure how the all you can eat access worked so we ended up ordering two entrees. The service was fair as the people were nice but not very helpful when it came to the menu and they cooked the food for us. A downside was that there was no sauce provided and all the food was cooked at once which meant that we felt rushed to eat. Sides of rice were provided with every dish which was very helpful that it wasn't an add-on and the portions per meat were good as there was a filling amount of food. The Edamame was well seasoned/salted and was very good, some of the best i have tried for only a 5$ charge, would recommend. The Spicy Pork Belly was good and the portion of it was very good, would recommend the spicy version as that was marinated and was not even really spicy but flavorful. The Marinated Chicken Breast was very bland and did not have much flavor besides of the pieces at the very bottom. Would recommend getting the spicy version unless you like the not most flavorful things, was decently filling but I do like to eat a lot. Was still very good, we finished all of the food. The cheese corn was probably the best side dish as the dishes were not the best and seemed randomly thrown at us. read more

I just recently moved back from Northern Virginia. I was a bit sad because I would be missing the KBBQ spots up there. I can't begin to express how happy I am that there is an AYCE KBBQ place in Richmond. The staff is really nice, and they humor me as I try to fumble through my elementary Korean. I just recently went there with some friends and we shut the place down. Soooooooooo much happiness!!!! I LOVE Korean BBQ, and there isn't a Korean BBQ within 2 hours of where I live. So when I travel, I am always on the hunt for somewhere to get my fix. A girlfriend and I were headed to Charlottesville via Richmond and Yelp (THANK YOU!) told me this restaurant existed. My friend had never had Korean BBQ so she was up for the adventure. I am so glad we stopped here- the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside; in fact, we weren't sure it was open, and once you get inside, it still doesn't look like much. However, the all you can eat bbq is fantastic!!! You get a menu of the various types of meat you can order. I believe you can order 2-3 types of meat at a time. Our waitress was so friendly and everyone that worked there seemed delighted with how much we were enjoying our food. We had bulgolgi, pork, chicken, short ribs, squid, everything. The sauces and sides were the normal ones you expect at Korean BBQ, and the meats were delicious. We had a great time, and now that I know this place exists, I'll be making a stop on my way through the Richmond area more often! read more

Of the 4, the spicy pork bulgogi and the marinated pork shoulder were my favorite. So tender and flavorful. The staff were great. This was my first time going to a Korean bbq where the staff comes and flips the meats for you, so that took some getting used to. All the sides were great. The steamed egg was a great compliment to the flavorful meats. Loved the trio of sauces for the unmarinated meats. Great assortment of veggies. Will definitely be back. read more

This place was not that good, came with a big party, they seated us separately and while the staff was nice I cannot get past the quality of the food. Most Korean BBQ restaurants in Northern Virginia are pretty consistent, they all taste very similar. But the quality of the meat here at this place compared to Korean BBQ in northern Virginia does not compare. The sides were not great, I love kbbq sides but the steamed egg was extremely tiny for a party of 13 people, the cheese corn tasted like the most bland corn, imagine school lunch corn with no flavor. Some of the meats tasted fine but some I just had to sit there after a bite and figure out what I was tasting, everything was very bland or didn't taste right. Even the bulgogi which is marinated a lot was not quality bulgogi at all. Not to mention the meat took a while to cook. Also while kbbq was cooked smoke accumulated the entire room that I contemplated just getting up to go outside for fresh air, with the staff insistent on not using the ONE AND ONLY CEILING VENT in our dining section. If the prices had been cheaper I could let it pass but the total price was $42 with tip added and if you happen to like your server you have to tip them cash because this establishment likes to keep the tips to themselves as a business instead of paying their servers. You can take your chances with 88 Garden if you're craving ala carte kbbq or 757 Hot Pot but 757 Hot Pot is also average but better quality than this establishment. read more

Really good kbbq spot. It has two options for a buffet and A and a B. The only difference is that combo A has the beef brisket and bulgogi and B does not. The meats were really good. The waiter/waitress would come by and help cook the meat for you or they can show you how to do it. That was a really cool thing. The sides were standard compared to normal kbbq spots. The only negative is that the grill would turn off if it gets to hot which i disliked. At one point during my dinner I had to wait 10 minutes for the grill to cool down in order to cook more meat. Man this quarantine has been tough and I was missing home cooked Korean meals! This place is now open for dining and it was exactly what I needed. Kimbap: visually it was mediocre because it lacked the dark green of spinach but the taste was pretty good! Dukbokki: if you're expecting authentic flavor, you probably won't enjoy this. It had less of the spicy gochujang + sugar flavor and tasted more like black pepper and chili. It was still flavorful and tasty, just not what I was expecting it to be. I almost think it should just be renamed to be black pepper dukbokki so people know what to expect...And perhaps it might be good to find a second recipe for spicy dukbokki for those looking for more authentic flavors. The rice cakes were the perfect chewy consistency. Vegetable pancake: thick and crispy. The dip was great. Marinated pork: Delicious! Not too spicy and cooked with onions. Very flavorful. This place is known more for meats and have options to order by dish or get all you can eat. You can take leftovers home if you order by dish but all you can eat won't allow you to. Everyone at the table must order all you can eat if you want that option to feast! I came on a slow night and was the only table dining so service was great and friendly. This was the first time my family and I went. We are from NC and we literally just googled Korean BBQ Restaurants near Petersburg and Korean Garden appeared first. I looked at the yelp reviews and they seemed decent so we decided to go. The food tasted amazing! I am not a big fan of pork but their marinated pork shoulder and the spicy beef Bulgogi was my favorite! The service was great as well! The servers made sure everyone had what they needed. Such a great experience overall. Definitely will return next time we are in the area. FYI the location of the restaurant is kind of easy to miss if you aren't familiar with the area. I was so excited to visit my sister because she's been telling me how great this place is! The food was served quickly and we ordered 5 plates of meat. They give you lots of sides to choose from as well--the egg is delicious. The pork was okay, a bit hard. The chicken was delicious, it isn't like your regular chicken. It's very soft after cooking. The bulgogi was the best--it was flavored well and was sweet. However, the plates are very small for their price. Also, they are very picky about you touching the grill. Travel by Richmond, accidentally found this Korean all you can eat. My families are big fan of Korean all you can eat barbecue. But this place is nothing like what we experienced in CA or NY. It's small, everything is so old, and the bathroom is dirty! The food is limited variety. The service if you could think there's any! The waiter seemed know nothing about the food except refilled the drink so to charge you extra cost. The waitress refused to give me sauce for the stone pot rice! She said there's no Togo sauce! Spent $100 for a meal like this is unpleasant. It seems they knew customers won't tip well, so that they put 20% service on top of the bill. Anyway, this is not a place you will want to try. I was CRAVING KBBQ, so even though Korean Garden didn't have the best ratings, I gave into my cravings. The food was a bit less than decent--underwhelming and slightly disappointing. The meat was under-marinated and tasted bland and dry at times. For the price of the AYCE course, I had higher hopes for the food. It kind of satisfied my cravings but left my wallet hurting and tastebuds disappointed. I wouldn't return nor recommend this restaurant.
