Kobop RVA inside Väsen Brewing Company in Forest Hill is one of those places that feels like a neighborhood gem the moment you walk in. We stopped by for drinks and dinner and were immediately impressed by the setup. Located inside Väsen, the food operation has a cool food truck-style pickup window at the back of the brewery when your pager goes off (order at the bar). It's casual, efficient, and adds to the fun atmosphere. Most importantly, the food was absolutely exceptional. Every dish we tried delivered huge flavor and was packed with personality. This is the kind of food that makes you stop mid-conversation and comment on how good it is. The bar service was equally impressive. We placed our order through the bartender, and despite it being a Tuesday evening, there was plenty of staff on hand. Multiple team members checked on us throughout our visit, and every interaction was friendly, welcoming, and genuine. What really stood out was the sense of community. Although it's a relatively new addition to the Forest Hill area, it's already clear that locals have embraced it. They even have branded merchandise and cycling gloves for sale, and during our visit we watched several cyclists roll up, hop off their road bikes, and come inside still wearing their cycling gear. It felt like a true neighborhood gathering spot. Places like this give a neighborhood character, and Kobop Korean feels like something special. The service felt a bit slow but again, we did go on a Friday at 4pm. So we ended up ordering takeout instead of dining in. Recently opened inside the new vasen in forest hill. I've been dying to check it out ever since the food truck stopped operation. The atmosphere was cute and very lively on a Wednesday night! The service is a little tricky, you have to order at the bar. Would prefer if they had their own window for ordering! Nonetheless the food was great-- we tried one of everything. The bao buns were by far our favorite and next time I'll probably just stick with those. Everything is $16 dollars... for the chicken basket it's worth it because it's a TON of chicken, but prices felt a little high for some of the other options. So my husband follows a gentleman on instagram Renzo.Eats and he reviewed the food at this restaurant. So my husband and I agreed this will be the place to try for dinner. We ordered pork dumplings, soy garlic double fried chicken wings, tacos beef and pork and bao buns...can I tell you!!! This food was so good and so seasoned. They also have a choice of sauce options. The gentleman that took our order was patient and personable and was able to tell us what he enjoys. Needless to say we will be back. I like their background story taking a business from a cart and turning it into a restaurant. They wear gloves while preparing the food so as an RN this was just the icing on the cake! Looking for some good Korean BBQ this is the place. I tried BimiBop but I don't know anyone who can eat hard wings that you can't chew...We did take out this will definitely be a new spot to add to our repertoire. Food is amazing! We got a little bit of everything to try so it was a little more expensive but you get a good amount of good quality food for the price. We went Friday night so it was pretty popping- we had to park a street over in a residential area so give yourself a few extra minutes to park. I came here on a Friday evening and ordered the Munch Box ($25) it came with 2 korean birria taco, 4 dumplings, fries, and banana pudding. Food took about 40 minutes to come out, but once it did it was soooooo amazing!! The Korean birria taco with the consommé were made for each other! The savory meat, cheese, and sweet and salty broth mixed so well together. The fries were good and dipped well with the consommé. The munch box is a good amount of food to split between two people, and is needed if you get a buzz from Buskey cider. My only critique was the very long wait time (40 minutes) for the food to come out which was due in part that only two or three people were in the truck. Overall some amazing food here!! The location may be tricky for those who aren't familiar with the city. It's in the city behind Busky Cider. I may have ordered on my way there, fortunately, there was common traffic so I was able to do it. I already decided on their signature platter (with a beef and pork bao bun) and their munch box. NO REGRETS AT ALL. I wanted to get a taste of everything and for my husband to enjoy and have options. The presentation is there! The pictures say it all. It's GORGEOUS and smells/tastes exactly what you are seeing (I honestly think better)! The Signature Platter obtains Korean Birria tacos (3) / Bao buns (2) - Bulgogi Beef / Gochujang Pork/Tofu) / Sticky Chicken Bites (Korean BBQ) / Nashville fries. Would give this a 4.5 stars if I could! The highlights were the bulgogi bao and the loaded nashville fries. The bao had just enough meat and sauce so that everything wasn't spilling out when you were eating it but was still filled and proportionate to how much bao there was. The fries were amazing! The bulgogi with pickled onions and banana chilis were so well balanced, with the onions and chilis balanced out the fries and meat. The 3rd best item was the birria tacos. Although they were good, they weren't anything special. Decent enough to give it an 8/10. Lots of meat which was very tender! Next we had the sticky KBBQ dumplings, which weren't too bad. They were sweet from the kbbq sauce and were crispy. 7.7/10 In last place for us was the KFC. It was a little dry, but the flavor was good - 7/10. Also their spicy mayo was delicious Service was quick and friendly, and although the seating area was cute, we got A LOT of massive bug bites. The smell of the food coming from the food truck took me back to Kunsan, AB, South Korea. The flavors of the beef have a very in-depth flavor profile. The first bite gives all sorts of Umai vibes, along with the consommé, which is a perfect pairing of sweet and savory with a little bit of salt. The fries are seasoned to perfection; there is not part of the fries that is not kissed in seasoning. The fries have a double-fry taste and are not oily or greasy at all. The pork  dumplings have a sweet soy/seasmon seed sauce covering them perfectly. I will be coming back to the location to try the other items I did not have. 10/10 read more

My husband and I came through for a museum exhibit and decided to stop and have a bite since this was so highly rated. You need to order online and pickup because there is no POS at the location, however, this wasn't an issue since their website functions really well. We ordered through the QR code and it took less than 10 minutes. This was some of the best food I have had in Richmond, but absolutely the best food truck I've ever visited. I wanted to try the signature platter after seeing several instagram reviews. The food looks very good and seemed reasonably priced for the amount of food you receive. I will provide the disclaimer that I only eat chicken and seafood so I did not try the birria tacos, pork dumplings, or beef bao bun. I split this with someone who does who LOVED all those items. The highlight for me was the tofu bao bun. Tons of flavor and texture it was awesome, should've gotten two. I preferred the sauce on the bang bang chicken over the Korean bbq chicken bites. I'm extremely disappointed to share I did not get to try the Nashville fries. I placed an order at 6 pm to pick up within about 10-15 min. As I arrived they were closing and announced they'd sold out. The Nashville fries were gone before my order was done and were replaced by pork dumplings which I don't personally eat. I would go earlier and get a smaller meal rather than the platter to reduce the likelihood of this happening again. read more

I usually don't eat from food trucks because I can never find one I like, but Kobop was a very good find. I have been wanting Korean Bbq for a while, so after our walk through Carytown ( I will review later ) we went on the search to find this food truck. The food was amazing. The service was spot on even though I forgot the water I paid for. Can't really say much about ambiance because it was picnic tables outside and it was a little cool to,sit outside and eat. I really do recommend this food truck if you're looking for a very delightful meal. We got the Signature Platter $35.
