One of my favorite places to go when I visit Richmond. The food is absolutely delicious. This Mexican restaurant is Jalisco style serving up an incredible diverse offering of food and drinks. Some of my favorites include the Cochi Loco Taco, the Birria Quesadilla, Carne Asada Fries, and I love their chips and queso. They also serve different flavors of agua fresca, and an amazing assortment of fresh fruity cocktails. Everything is aesthetically pleasing, and the looks match the food. I also love that they have a salsa bar where I can serve myself different type of salsa and peppers and onions, etc. The atmosphere is fast paced, but kind of exciting. Giving praise to the woman who was cleaning tables Friday night 4/24/26. What a saint. First, I walked over to a table she was cleaning to grab it and I dropped my sauces in the process to the table. It fell on the floor and table. She was so kind and was like don't worry I got it. I was cleaning some of the sauce on the floor and she just was like no I got it. Also, I had a toddler that was having a total meltdown. The lady was trying to help me with that! There was a language barrier, but she was just trying to know his age and tried to smile at him. It was also the evening time so, it was busy, but she was just so calm and helpful. I didn't get a name, but you are amazing and hope you are doing well! It was super crowded. We ordered food to go and when we got back home. we didn't get one of the items and so we had to split which worked out find but my brother didn't get what he ordered. Talk about teleporting to Miami. Came here for a late night taco and it was a true vibe in there. From their drink combos (the horchata cocktail had CORN liquor). It was absolutely amazing. To make a long story short -- Cochiloco is a really fun vibe. I have to say I really appreciate their branding and overall aesthetic. The space has great energy, and the patio area adds a nice touch. It can get pretty busy in there, so just keep that in mind when you go it can get a little packed depending on the time. But honestly, it's worth it. Wow! We were looking for Mexican and decided to give Cochiloco a try. So glad we did. Had a quesadilla, the Cohiloco burrito, the birria tacos and an elote. Everything was delicious and food came out pretty quickly. The burrito was excellent and very filling. The tacos were very tasty too. I didn't try the quesadilla, but was told it was really good. The elote was messy, but totally worth it. We'll definitely be back. You order at the counter, but they have a full bar, plenty of soft drink choices, and a huge television screen. A cute restaurant in Scott's Addition. A little confusion as you enter because I wasn't aware that you had to order at the counter and find a seat. The staff were nice and helpful. QR codes for the menus which was nice because we found our seat in the side patio and were able to review the menu. Some of us ordered online and some went inside to order. I love a taco. The right taco can brighten a tough day or make the best day the most awesome. Cochiloco falls in that camp. Walking in, it's a very casual experience. I'd recommend staking out your table first and then either putting an order in through the QR code or going up to the counter to order. There's a full bar inside as well, and they do a very solid margarita on the rocks. Ask for mezcal instead of tequila if you're feeling spicy. Tacos come in orders of 2 or three. They have birria, burritos, and quesadillas too. The options are so enticing that it's easy for your eyes to be bigger than your stomach (which was our case but fortunately they keep to go boxes on the counter!). Ordering to share is a good way to try items without getting overwhelmed. We split an order of carnitas tacos, al pastor tacos (all flour tortillas), and a carne asada quesadilla. We also loaded up on all the sauces they offer by the pickup counter, including some roasted shishito peppers. The flavors were phenomenal. I really enjoy carnitas tacos, but the pork can be hit or miss. Cochiloco seems to have nailed it with moist, flavorful meat that also has some crispy edges. The al pastor had a punch of sweetness to the tender slices of pork. The steak in the quesadilla was well done but still tender and seasoned expertly. I couldn't pick a favorite sauce, but I really like the verde and the spicy oil IS ACTUALLY SPICY. You've been warned lol. There are good tacos where I live, but I'll be thinking about Cochiloco and counting the days until we meet again. read more

Ahhh this was so delicious. Not only was it crowded on Friday at nearly 10 pm, but the service was quick and the food was great. IMPORTANT- This place is amazing. I think about it at least once a week. Parking: from what I can see, street parking is likely your only option, which is par for the course in Scotts Addition. This location is across the street from a brewery, so often the evening will be packed after work here for dinner. Ambiance: Super casual. Enjoy either indoor or outdoor seating, and order at the counter. They'll give you a buzzer that will go off once the food is ready. The vibe can be loud in the evenings so keep that in mind if you're trying for an intimate setting. This may not be the place for you. My take is four people is perfectttttt. The FOOD: the main event. the stuff of dreams. With a simplistic menu, there is something for everyone (except the vegans- sorry). The restaurant itself is vibrant, fast casual, and the food is great. The best part is the self serve salsa bar. They've been pretty packed no matter what night we've gone, though the service is still quite fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. We've tried a variety of items and our favorites have been the carne asada tacos, elote, and the carne asada quesadillas. Highly recommend getting the chips at least one time so you can try all the different salsas in isolation. read more

Went with 3 people and WAY over ordered. Everything was so good though! Loved the patio seating - we came on a really lovely evening. You order at the counter - didn't have a super long line which was nice. My order was 2 of the specialty tacos (cochiloco, Sonora - they're are huge!) plus rice and beans. The horchata was excellent. My friend got the ACP and for such a simple dish, that really stuck with all of us - so so good. The elote was hard to eat on the cob, especially with how saucy it was. Excellent chips and guac and salsa. The food was incredible, but I didn't love the counter service especially bc the trays are so so slippery. I wouldn't recommend carrying more than 1 tray and don't overload them. read more

The restaurant is colorful and in a pretty nice location. It didn't feel like I was in Richmond but more of a posh area in Texas. Sat outside on a nice day under the covered patio. Ordered at the bar and then they call you to pick up your food. The chicken tacos were well seasoned and a huge portion. My only thing is that they can take the amount of the of toppings they put on the two tacos, could easily make 3. The tacos are over stuffed making them hard to eat. So the portion would be perfect with 3 tortillas. The drink was tasty and you could taste the liquor. Overall great experience. Would return. read more

It is BUSY, and you have to be quick to get open tables during dinner time. However, the food comes out quickly and it's very well priced! I would recommend tying it for sure. Went to Cochiloco on a Monday night for the first time. And I was happy to pick that day as I've heard it gets packed in the weekends. For a Monday night it was a bit empty and quiet. But it's a lovely place and I can imagine it quickly picks up with people. Ordering was very simple, at the counter towards the end. We were dinning in and sat at the bar. We both ordered quesobirria and they were delicious! They gave us some spicy salsa on the side, and the only comment is that I wish it would have been more spicy.
