Most Mexican restaurants serve food that's just okay. This was pretty good! I work from home so I can get out and go to lunch with friends. My friend Kelly happened to be in my area and texted to see if I was free for lunch. Yes! It's my birthday week so it's a week of treating myself, so a catch up over a nice meal midweek with a good friend fit the bill. We picked Los Panchos because it was near where she was and an easy drive for me. I was out picking up a package so it was easy to divert to Los Panchos. I live nearby but haven't eaten there before. They have a huge menu and I ended up just picking lunch chicken fajitas with jalapeño added. It came with one side, so I picked beans. It also had lettuce, guacamole and pico, and we had salsa on the table. My friend got the vegetarian fajitas and it looked really good! We got to choose between corn or flour tortillas, so I picked corn. Everything was tasty. The food came out on a sizzling plate, which was nice. They cooked the jalapeño peppers into the dish, which was great and added extra flavor. The salsa was good, not spicy but flavorful. Our server was efficient and the right about of friendliness. Had a lovely lunch at Los Panchos today :) my husband and I split the table side guacamole and let me tell you- it's probably the best I've had at a Mexican restaurant in a REALLY long time, as it's been hard to find a good Mexican restaurant in the last few years. The lunch Texas fajitas were amazing, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. You can also see in the photo the steam coming off of them, they came out piping hot!! The food here is amazing! Stopped by after work, and immediately we were greeted and shown to our seats. It wasn't too busy, it was after 9pm so service was on time and our waitress was very attentive! I highly recommend the chorizo dip, it came out sizzling, literally! It has a great balance between chorizo and cheese, so I was pleasantly satisfied. The drinks were perfect btw, not too strong but strong enough to get a nice buzz going, and the prices were very reasonable and they had really good drink specials, I suggest the margaritas! read more

Los Pancho's has quickly become a popular spot in the area. Their food and service is pretty consistent, which I like. I appreciate that now their menus have pictures of every single item, but man that does make it harder for the indecisive foodies like myself. Their portions are typically huge and especially of traditional Mexican dishes like fajitas, burritos, etc. I recently was in the mood for something different so decided on the pescado con camaron (fish with shrimp), which is a whole fried fish with a few grilled shrimp on top. Note this is whole fish, head on lol, which may turn some people off, but it's SO delicious and cooked crispy and fresh, on top of white rice (could use salt or seasoning), avocado, lettuce and tomato. Their drinks are good and consistent too. I love that they bring out salsa and white sauce with the chips without having to ask for white sauce. This is a great option if in the mood for Mexican food, and they have several locations across various parts of town. I'll say this one is one of my fave of their locations. They have had some price discrepancies in the past from the menu to the price on the receipt, and at one point was charging a different price if using a card, but that wasn't disclosed. I know many people complained, so I think at this point the menu prices are accurate with what you pay regardless of payment type. read more

I ordered and received my food very quickly it was hot and the chicken was soo good! I'm always nervous ordering meat from any restaurant because the quality is either hit or miss and this was definitely very delicious chicken and a lot of it in my chicken quesadilla! Also the chips and salsa were good the white sauce I LOVED. The kids menu had plenty of options which was great too. The waiter was friendly and always there when I needed something. I'm definitely going back soon! And to think the only reason I even heard about this place was because one day I exited Walmart to find their business card on my car window! read more

Panchos offers good food at a very reasonable price. The restaurant has a very comfortable indoor setting offering full bar and booths or tables for seating. Atmosphere is new, updated and offers somewhat more separated eating space. A few strategically placed TVs near the bar offer a spot for those wanting to catch a game. I personally like that there are TVs throughout the rest of the restaurant. The restaurant has been very clean anytime I've been there, and service has been very good. Food here is good- what I would call standard Mexican - American food with a comprehensive menu. Portions are large - you will not leave hungry. Prices are very reasonable. Lunch prices and portions are particularly good. One of the better places to grab Mexican food in the Short Pump area, would recommend. Happy eating! read more

Stopped by today for the first time finally and was glad I did. As soon as I walked in we were greeted which I love. Seated immediately which was a plus. I absolutely loved the decor, the stone they use in their restaurant design is gorgeous. I ordered the fresh spicy guacamole. I was sooooooooooooooooooooooooo delicious. I love that they make the guac table side and you can have them make it to your spice liking. The complimentary chips and dip was so fresh and good as well. Even though I just had that I can honestly say that the food smelled amazing. As the dishes went past our table you could smell all the seasonings that they used. I will definitely be going back to try a full meal. If you are a guacamole fan you have to check them out asap. read more

Disappointing Experience at Los Poncho My wife and I have been coming to Los Poncho for a few years now, and it has always been our favorite weekend spot. We've never had any issues--until last night. From the start, things felt off. We didn't see our regular server, so we were assigned someone new, Griss. My wife wanted to try something different, so she asked about one of the dishes. Instead of offering an explanation or checking with the kitchen, the server simply pointed at the menu and said, "It's right there." That was unexpected since most servers we've encountered are usually happy to explain dishes or get clarification if needed. When our food arrived, my wife's dish came with just one small piece of lime. Since the dish needed more lime juice to bring out the flavor, she politely asked for extra. She even joked that we might get charged for it, but we never expected that to actually happen. When the check arrived, we noticed a $1.99 charge for the extra lime. The server dropped the check so quickly that we didn't even get a chance to ask about it. Luckily, a manager happened to walk by, so we brought it to his attention. He confirmed that they don't charge for extra lime and promptly corrected our bill. However, what made the situation worse was what happened next. As our server passed by, she made a comment insisting that they do charge for extra lime--even after the manager had already confirmed otherwise and corrected the mistake. This was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. On our way out, we informed the same manager about what happened, but by then, my wife had already made up her mind--we won't be coming back. It's not about the $1.99--it's about the poor attitude and lack of customer service. If a restaurant does have an extra charge for something not listed on the menu, customers should be informed upfront, not surprised on the bill. It's really disappointing that our go-to spot has let us down like this. Unfortunately, after years of being loyal customers, we won't be returning. read more

I absolutely love coming here now! We work close-by and have always gone to El Caporal but have had some unpleasant experiences there the past few times. I'm so grateful for Los Panchos opening up in the West End. It is extremely spacious inside and there are ample spots outside for outdoor seating. Their margaritas are great and always dressed up with fresh fruit. The service is typically good and fast, we've only had one instance where we waited quite some time for the queso (but it is well worth the wait!). I would definitely recommend trying Los Panchos, especially if you're with a big group. read more

We were excited to try Los Panchos restaurant that opened up in Short Pump. The inside felt very traditional Mexican as did the menu. We went for lunch and found the menu prices and portions were good. We liked the red salsa. The white salsa was a little sweet tasting to me but I am more traditional. We had the lunch chicken fajitas. They were really good. The refried beans were a little more red and less thick than traditional but were tasty. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would like to come back when I can order a margarita. They had signs for a happy hour but I'm not sure of the specifics. One note, they offer a discount for cash. read more

I've been eyeing this place since they opened and went by there for a quick dinner the other day. The dining area is huge, and we were seated right away. Our server was nice, but seemed like she didn't understand what I asked for. I didn't complain, I just ate what she brought even though my order was wrong. ( I asked for a quesadilla with rice and beans on the side. she brought me refried beans.) I'm not really a fan of refried beans, but I ate them anyway so we could eat our food hot together. The quesadilla was good, but the complimentary chips and salsa were just okay. They were a bit bland, as if there were no salt on them. (Normally I tear up a basket of chips and salsa, but not this time.) My bf loved his food, so I'm sure we will be back soon. We were in the area shopping, and looking for a place for an early dinner. Lo and behold, next door to where we were was Los Panchos! I went to Yelp and read reviews. While it has 3 + stars, none of the "dings" were for food and very little were other issues. We tried it and boy am I glad we did! First of all it is really pretty inside. Love the wood and horses and the bar seats are really cool. Our server brought out chips and 3 different sauces/salsas. All were great. My initial menu order at a new Mexican restaurant is always: ARROZ CON POLLO: Grilled marinated chicken cooked with onions and green and red peppers. Topped with cheese and served over a bed of rice. Served with salad and tortillas. It was sooo good. My hubby loved his usual: CARNITAS: Tender pork cooked to perfection. Served with rice, beans, guacamole salad and tortillas Oh! And did I mention...Margs!!! $6 each and very good The portions were large and we had leftovers for dinner the next day. We loved it and will be back! read more

We stopped here as we had to grab something's at the shop next door. The guacamole was good and fresh made at the table. The staff was not really on the ball but I've had worse. The restaurant was beautiful for evening dining but the booth they put us in was broken. I sat down and immediately sank in. My daughter ended up sitting there because she was small enough it didn't bother her as much. They had plenty of available seats so I'm not sure why they wouldn't close the booth off. At this location I had ordered two meals and 2 alcoholic drinks. When I received my bill I paid before I realized they charged me 20% gratuity for 2 people. When I asked about the bill the lady told me it was a new charge. I the called the parham location( same owner) And asked about this charge and that location told me they weren't allowed to charge that. That's right!!!! They are scamming and charging customers fake charges. I went to the short pump location every day for lunch for almost 6 months and then for dinner. This place is great! The service is great, the menu is not just your typical Mexican fare and everything tastes fresh. It is kind of "higher end" as far as Mexican restaurants go. The food is good at the Short Pump location and service is usually good, but beware if you order a beer! We were there for dinner but didn't realize it was still happy hour, so 2 in my party ordered 24 oz draft beers, and I ordered a bottled beer with a glass. When the beers were served, the 24 oz glasses were the same size as the one I was given for my bottled beer which is only 12 oz. All 3 glasses looked to have the same amount of beer, even though one was 12 oz and the other 2 were 24 oz. When we questioned the server, she was very nice, but she must have questioned the bar and came back with a "24 oz" glass and a very small "12 oz" mug so we could see the difference in size. Later, the 2 in the party that ordered the 24 oz beers, ordered a 2nd 12 oz beer in the mug, but when we decided to pour that beer into the empty "24 oz" glass, it almost filled it up. So you're probably getting 16 oz at the most, maybe less, for the price of 24 oz. ($8.00 each and $6,00 each for the 12 oz). The server also did not tell us it was still Happy Hour, and obviously we weren't given Happy Hour prices. Unfortunately they do not give you a beer menu so you really don't know what you're paying! Service absolutely sucks from Catalina this is the second time me and my significant other has been in to eat the first time we ordered food fries for my other and we got brought out rice and his drink was messed up too and the second time we go in for drinks I get specifically asked "do you want frozen or on the rocks" I say frozen well I get on the rocks and then when I comfort the situation I get told I didn't say that when my bf definitely heard me say frozen. My husband was just here while working out of tow for and the food was kind of halfway OK, and by that I truly mean that the rice was rice, and the beans were beans, there's not much that you could do to mess that up. The portions are so small yet the price is so high. Furthermore, the menu advertises one cut of steak, but once you order, they bring you a cheaper cut and I can't stress enough how small their portions are. I was looking forward to visiting Los Panchos, which opened in the same location as Casa Grande...which itself was a prior go-to place that went way downhill in the couple of years before it closed. Staff were friendly, service was pretty quick as the place was under half full. Food arrived promptly. The food itself was only marginally good. The Pollo 57 that I got was prepared well-enough, but I was disappointed with the soft tortillas that I would swear were the cheap brand off a supermarket shelf and the cheap cheese whose texture and bland taste unpleasantly dominated the meal. Hey everyone. DO NOT GET CARRY OUT OR VISIT THIS RESTAURANT. I placed a lunch order. 1st time visiting because they had a 10% coupon. They actually upcharged me on the meal telling me because i use a credit card they charge extra. That is false advertising AND a terrible business practice. Then i get home and my order is wrong. They want me to bring it back, but i am not driving 10 miles because of their screw up. They wont refund my money or give me a discount. No apology to me. So this is why i am saying do NOT visit this particular restaurant. Oh their food was not that good. They go heavy on the tomato sauce, so much to where i thought i was eating Italian, not Mexican . Service was horrible. The wait staff was overwhelmed, but the real problem was the manager didn't care when we told her our issues. She didn't apologize- nothing. When we had to ask for drinks and chips, plus didn't have have our food after waiting an hour then the manager should realize the restaurant has a problem. read more

Me and my wife were looking to go to a Mexican restaurant that used to occupy the same space, when we got there and saw it was no longer the same place we decided to give it a shot anyways and boy am I glad we did, first off the red and white salsa were both phenomenal, we got the nachos texanas fajitas and they were amazing, the old restaurant had a shrimp and crab chimichanga which I regularly got and it turned out that los panchos has it as well, it was a million times better than the one I was used to, the impressive thing is that all the food that we ordered was the same as the old restaurant but the quality and the taste was infinitely better, I will be going to los panchos for my Mexican cravings from now on! read more
