My son and I met here for dinner on a Thursday evening. It is in a strip mall so there is adequate parking. The inside is fairly large and we got seated right away. The food was good as well. He had chicken and rice with tortillas and I had a quesadilla. They have a cool tortilla machine in the front section where they make the smaller sized tortillas. It goes through a type of oven then up a conveyor belt and drops into a basket. I thought that was interesting to have out to be seen. Went here to check it out with my two young children on a Friday night and was blown away by the experience. They make their tortillas on site and were making them when we were there. My 4 year old was intrigued so we went to watch and the women was so kind and let him catch his own. The food was great. Yummy queso, fresh tortillas, a bit more than a "classic" Mexican joint and there was a lot of seafood on the menu I look forward to trying next time! The decorations are elaborate and really fun! But what really made me leave this review was how nice everyone was to me and my kids. Juanito was our server and made sure we had everything we needed. My youngest was covered in black beans and so many of the servers came over to ask him how he liked it and laugh with us. They spoke Spanish with my 4 year old who was practicing and really were just so kind. You don't always get a warm reception when you show up with two small kids but this was a stand out experience! What a wonderfully prepared soup Carne en su jugo. Looks just like the picture from the menu. And this is take out. Enjoyed the soup a lot. I also ordered horchata. The decoration of the restaurant is a bit busy but wow pretty cool lighting and booths. One thing I like to note ... the waitresses were cleaning the menus by wiping them down. That's awesome. I don't like greasy and sticky menus. Since this is during business trip , I didn't get to enjoy by dining in. But they were pretty busy with dine in customers and with good Yelp reviews ... plus the menu like take out presentation of my order I highly recommend paying them a visit. Granted I am a Texas girl and I know my Mexican food, but El Paso was a major disappointment. I don't have many Richmond Mexican food restaurants to compare to, but I have to believe there is better out there. My quesadilla was more grilled onion than the poor quality of fajita beef and little to no cheese. The meet was dry and chewy. My friends street tacos tortillas were ice cold. I will say the beans and rice were edible but not enough to make up for the poor quality of the entrees. The service was great and I liked the decor, too bad the kitchen couldn't deliver. My gf had been coming here for a few weeks and had all good things to say so we came on a Wednesday evening. The inside was GORGEOUS, very vibrant and welcoming. The staff was very attentive to our needs. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were delicious, seriously so fresh! The veggies tasted like they just picked them out of the garden and served em up. We both got a large marg and honestly we could have split it, especially since this was first marg postpartum it was delish though! This place used to be my favorite Mexican spot since 2018. However, I think management has change and there has been a several issues since then. Customer service is very rude and the food quality has decreased. My last visit they charge me $10 more for the same order that I ordered the day before. I tried to explain to the person over the phone. They continued to talk to me as if I didn't know what I was talking about and made up a problem. El Paso has always been one of the better Mexican restaurants in my opinion. Always fresh food that's filling and enough for a couple of meals. In the current situation, I took advantage of their take out option. Ordered ahead on the app, though you have to pay in store. Ordered fajitas for two, which came with a hefty portion and two containers of salad and beans and 6 tortillas (3 individually wrapped each). I've ordered a few takeout Mexican spots and let me tell you this was the real deal, authentic and no skimping on anything. So flavorful. I kinda want to order again haha (prob will). Also put in the notes that I wanted white sauce, and had that with my chips and salsa. The salsa was just the right level of flavorful and spicy without being too much! I also ordered a frozen strawberry margarita. Babyyyy that thing was the truth. Let me tell ya they hooked it up just like when dining in. It's been a little while since I've been here but they always have great service and they always have good food now they change their menu and have added a lot more seafood and more steaks... More high end offerings they even have octopus now which I have yet to try! I popped in with a friend last night after work of course we got the complementary chips and salsa which is always great got two margaritas on the rocks and I got the shrimp ceviche as my dinner and my friend got the chipotle chicken burrito it was huge... But they are always plentiful with their servings there isn't anything I have not had on this menu that wasn't good forgot to share the last time I was there but the salmon tacos were great also. read more

Came here because it was the only mexican food that was open late nearby, and they did not disappoint! I got the quesadilla with rice and guacamole, and it was SO good. It was a very big portion so i even had enough to bring leftovers. There was a live performance inside as well when I went on a Sunday night, and that was definitely a fun experience. Several times we've had food to go from El Paso over the past year or so, but never dined-in. The counter service has always been good, and greeted with appreciation every time. Most evenings, they are quite busy and fairly packed when I come to pick up my order. Growing up in Texas with lots of spices and fragrance in the Mexican and Tex-Mex food I've eaten, such spices and aeromatics are entirely lost in El Paso's food. I've tried many selections, but their food is definitely for the palate of a 4-year-old child. There is virtually NOTHING spicy or remotely authentic about the food here. It is almost as if they were cooking for people who think ketchup is spicy. Meats are fairly tender, but again, lacking customary spices that are native to Mexican cuisine. I'm still perplexed about this creamy white sauce that is served with the chips and salsa. I've never experienced it before, but it is truly disgusting. Yuck! From quesadillas to fajitas, burritos, and enchiladas, everything has been simply mediocre at best. I even ordered the chile rellenos one time and they were almost raw...with potatoes inside?? That's just crazy. We purchased food again last night. Fajitas were absolutely flavorless. I think there were something reminiscent of black pepper, but hard to tell. Queso dip was thin and hardly stuck to the flavorless chips that were included. Not a hint of spice at all. Quesadillas lacked appreciable flavor, and simply bland. I may or may not be back, but will certainly be looking for better alternatives that represent Mexican cuisine and flavor in the future. read more

This restaurant mistakenly charged my credit card $827 rather than the $8.27 it should have registered ($8.27 was the tip after already charging for the meal). I saw it on my bank mobile application and returned to the restaurant to have them reverse the charge. After saying it was a bank error, they saw it was their error but claimed they could not reverse the charge at this time, while I'm standing there. This is absurd. They have commercial software that will reverse the charge, but they wouldn't do it. This leaves me the task of working through my bank to dispute the charge. I will never return to this restaurant. The manager kept saying "sorry" but refused to do a simple transaction reversal. He chose to make his error my problem. Now I have to work it out at my bank. read more

Average... that's how I'd describe this Mexican restaurant. The decor is nice, they have cool chairs and nice booths. You definitely get a festive vibe here. The service was ok, but I never was asked if I wanted a tea refill (which i did). I saw a steak knife, some condiments and misc. silverware in an alcove next to our booth and asked the waiter to clear it because a child could easily have access to that knife which was unsafe. He kinda just shrugged it off. The food was fair... I thought the cheese sauce was a tad soupy and I've had better tortillas. We ordered carnitas, black beans and rice which I give a C+. The presentation was nice though. For the quality and quantity, the prices were a little high. My friend had a margarita and she said it was good; and she added this is more of a place to go after work for a couple of drinks and appetizers. I've been here a couple times when I've been in the area, but really, there are a few tastier places not too far away so next time I'll probably just go the extra mile. read more

I wanted to place an order today for takeout to minimize risks with the coronavirus, so I called the restaurant. Someone answered after one ring, which is really nice. I told her I wanted to get takeout and she immediately told me to hold on for a second. I didn't think the wait would be long, so I did as I was told. I was placed on hold and I could hear the person who answered the phone talking to other customers in the restaurant and answering their questions, taking their orders. I was ignored. It feels like this restaurant really doesn't care about you if you are getting takeout versus if you came in dined in. I received no response and got tired of waiting, so I hung up. There are definitely better options if you want to stay safe with COVID and get Mexican food. read more

We've ordered from here several times for takeout and have always enjoyed our meals, though I have noticed that the proportions of food can vary from order to order. Carlos is my favorite server, but they are all nice. Chicken fajitas or bean burrito are my favorites but just pick something and it will be fresh and tasty.
