Went on Valentine's Day . It was good ! Wish the Al pastor was a litttlllee more sweet tho. I appreciated the sauces . The sandwich my husband got was huge and filling! A little pricey for what I thought we were getting (prices were different on the website/pictures) they increased.

I almost hate writing this review. Anthony Bourdain used to bemoan bringing media attention to tiny, local restaurants off the beaten path, knowing tourists would soon flock there and possibly change the experience. I feel the same way about La cabaña. I will personally keep this place in business if I have to, and fewer customers means more tacos for me, right? This unassuming, hole-in-the-wall eatery is the real deal when it comes to authentic Mexican street food. It looks a bit like a cafeteria inside, with only a few tables and a counter in front of the open kitchen. If you want to eat in, just take a seat and a server will come to you. You order takeout and pay for meals at the counter. I've never seen more than three people working at once, and often Spanish is the primary language, but food still comes out fast and there are some English descriptors on the menu. The tacos are the best I've had, no question. They don't make their own corn tortillas in house, but the meats and toppings are perfection. The lengua, carne adobada, and al pastor are my favorites, but I've had almost all of them by now and you really can't go wrong. I've also had the refried beans, Spanish rice, and housemade chips and salsa and it was all great. For between $1.25-$3.00 per taco, it's an inexpensive and incredible satisfying meal.

WOWWWWWWWW THE GREATEST TACOS IN RVA!!!!!!!!!! The only other taco place I would go would be taqueria panchito for their birria tacos or their al pastor but let me tell you about the CHIPS AND GUAC AND SALSA HERE!!! *drools* so hot and fresh and crunchy!!! The guac has this limey kick and it's creeeeamy!! My favs are the cabeza lengua THE BRISKETTTT and the al pastor. The plaintains are air fried??? Not deep fried idk hkw they make them but they taste like fries but better bc of the chilli powder and some sort of meat sauce they give you to dip it in. The portions are MASSIVE!! I cannot wait to return and I hope to see u there

Steak, pork, and chicken tacos. I'd totally recommend the steak and al pastor (pork) tacos, but all three are delicious!

After having tried La Cabana a couple more times, I am even more confident in giving the establishment 5 stars. My lengthy wait on my first visit had to have been a fluke of some sort as my tacos have been promptly served to me in about 5-10 minutes the last two times I've been there. I'd still check out my initial review for more details, but everything about the place is great. Amazing food, awesome staff, and an overall great experience. I will direct you to the pictures I've taken, but every time the tacos are presented beautifully, are quite filled with ingredients, and are as delicious as they look. The orange sauce (which I managed to take a picture of this time), is absolutely amazing. Between the flavor of the tacos, the comfortable atmosphere, and the price, La Cabana may very well be my favorite place in RVA to eat at, and currently holds the title of my favorite tacos anywhere.

The graciously accommodated Keto tacos. No tortillas missed, because the meats were so good.

Holy Cow how I love this place and the new ownership! Was on Staples Mill Rd, OTW to a massage therapy appointment and was self-lamenting because I was driving by a favorite Mexican food & legit taco spot that I love/d with previous owners, (original review from 2018), and more so now. I lamented because I've been on a fairly strict Keto diet, & know I can't use my 25g of allowable carbs on tortillas. Most places will not replace tortillas with lettuce because they shred them right away. I figured I'd pop-in and ask. To my delight, he was happy to accommodate. This place is generous with filling portions. Since I wasn't going to get full with the double corn tortillas they normally serve with each taco, I got 5. (Don't judge) In short order my beautiful shrimp taco, taco de chicharrón, (braised pork skin in a Chile verde), chorizo taco, and 2 lengua taco, (beef tongue. Calm down. They remove the outer skin and braise the muscle under it). All were exceptional. Very fresh, & crunchy, double iceberg lettuce was used. I also ordered a side of guacamole. Love this place. There were many happy people here either eating the day's surf & turf special, an unreal value at $11, or one of the homemade legit soups they make here.

The spot has the authentic Mexican tacos that you are looking for. I was very impressed with the flavors and the freshness of all the ingredients. My wife and I had the squash and zucchini tacos, and my son had a chicken burrito. They are super friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself is cozy and nicely decorated. We will definitely be back to try out more of the very extensive menu. Go there now!

I don't live in this area anymore but when I come into town, I try to stop by here! So update on my last review, the lengua (beef tongue) is definitely more flavorful and tender as it should be! I also tried the carnitas from my sister's taco for the first time here and wow, it was amazing!!!! So juicy and full of flavor! I had to order my own carnitas after eating hers! My sister had the chicharrones as well it the pork belly was definitely not fried. It was gummy and gooey pork belly skin because it wasn't fried! Still all other tacos were amazing!!

I noticed the ice cream/yogurt spot nearby was hopping. There was a person asking for change outside the front door. We were greeted by an enthusiastic host and seated immediately at a booth up front. The server came by within seconds and brought us water and place settings. We decided to get the chips and salsa for an appetizer and a pair of melting chimichangas for entrees. I can't resist some chorizo and steak. My partner got the chimichanga without chorizo and with chicken. The ambiance was colorful with beautifully painted murals on each wall, and the atmosphere was undeniably loud. There were lots of patrons. The place was packed, even at the bar, so your mileage may vary. We received our orders within minutes of each other, so there wasn't much of a wait time. The chips and salsa were homemade, fresh, warm, and delicious (muy rico). Same for the entrees; exactly what I want in a Mexican food restaurant. The chorizo and steak were well-cooked, seasoned, and chopped finely, but not ground. I was in heaven with that chimichanga. We had to take home leftovers. The next night, heated in the oven at 325 for 30 minutes, they were similarly excellent. The night ended without dessert, sadly (too full). However, the server was quick and efficient, and he was always around to fill water and bring anything we needed throughout the meal. Great experience overall. We will definitely return here whenever we have a hankering for some good Mexican food at reasonable prices. I can recommend this place to anyone who appreciates hearty and filling Mexican food.

Let me also give nuance to my love of Lolita's by saying first and foremost that I had the best cocktail I've ever had here, the Hotboxed Ferrari (Siete Misterios Mezcal, Byrrh, Piña, Campari, Fernet Branca, Cinnamon Deme, Salted Grapefruit Foam). I am rabid for Mezcal. I want to kiss the mixologist who developed this drink, because it is absolutely a balance of flavors that showcases the beautiful and perfect smokiness of Mezcal and good grief I almost fell out after my first sip. *deep breaths* So we just continue riding this wave of joy with the salsa and tostadas. Three types of salsas with unique flavors and different levels of heat. All three incredible. Blue-corn tostadas made in-house. And then a bowl of pozole verde. This damn sopa had me in a chokehold as well because how was everything perfect??? The textures, the flavors...I think I might have forgotten where I was because I got lost in that bowl. Best pozole verde I've ever had. Ordered the Choripapa and Suadero tacos- at this point I really could have ordered just one because your girl was almost at maximum capacity. The tacos are not cheap- ranging from $11-14- but to their credit, they do not skimp on the fillings and the flavors are top tier. Add in those fresh blue corn tortillas and you have a combination that truly did not miss in any way, shape, or form. Only disappointment I encountered the entire night was one of the drinks on the menu not actually being available (the frozen horchata-pumpkin colada), but my bartender made me a horchata coffee cocktail that definitely made up for it. Shout out to her, because she was throwing down on them drinks. So. True artistry experienced throughout the night, from the cocktails to the food. The atmosphere is so cool inside too, definitely a light summery feel which is a nice respite from this crazy winter blast we're experiencing at the moment. Love this spot and highly recommend.
