I was certainly hesitant about this place when I found out it was partly a Latino market, but I had a suspicion it would be really authentic because of this. And I was right! This place is great and super authentic. Not a ton of vegetarian options but I made it work. The salsa they have is really good, definitely needed seconds. The portions are generous and prices are low. My husband and I really loved it and the waitress was patient with me needing her to repeat certain things, since I'm not fluent in Spanish. we came in to eat, food was ok, the presentation was mid. the service however was 0, the waitress wasn't very friendly or inviting however with other clients in the restaurant dining in she was super attentive, smiling, and constantly checking in on them. (they were all males) and we on the other hand were two women... so that gives you an idea of what i'm implying. she walked past our table several times, we even put our drinks at the edge of the table to get a refill but she ignored us each time. once she finally saw that we wanted to leave she asked if we were ok, i said yes but i wanted another drink, she rolled her eyes and gave me another. so with that said never again, i'd say if you want to try it maybe just order to go. read more

Amazing! My favorite tacos in RVA so far! They were so full and flavorful (which has been hard to find in the area). We also have enjoyed their tamales and pupusas. I am so very, very happy to have found a Latino market out in the East End. Sometimes you just need a delicious burrito or real tacos to bring home that are not from deep in the West End, or Southside, or that's closed when normal people eat dinner, or that came from Alamo [Alamo, baby, I love you so hard, but I gotta mix things up every now and then - muchos besos!], or that I have to awkwardly wait for in a sit-down restaurant. Mi Guerrero fills the void for that part of town. So you walk in, and half the place is a market, and half is a handful of little booths with a ordering counter in the back. I saw only one well-used laminated menu on the counter to figure out what items they offered. After about 8 minutes of me kind of awkwardly perusing the market [holy moly, they had ALL of the Mexican sodas you could ever want!], my order was finished and packed up, I paid at the front counter, and was on my way. Okay. Everything traveled well without getting too cold, even with a quick stop at the grocery store before getting home. The burrito came with green and red salsas, fresh refriend beans with cotija, a ton of rice, and a little avocado salad - a lot of food! However, I was kinda bummed that that the al pastor in the burrito was pretty dang dry. Tasty, but lacking that drippy, greasy aspect that you WANT in an al pastor. The carne asada tacos I also ordered were equally delicious, but...fatty? Gamey? I was a little disappointed by how everything turned out, but that doesn't mean that I won't be going back! read more

There are two sides to the store the left ( which is where the restaurant part is) and the right( which is where the Hispanic store is). At the back of a Mexican bodega is the restaurant, appearing to be perhaps an afterthought. I ordered food to go -- the beef chimichangas. The kitchen is low volume, but efficient. It took about 5-6 minutes to prepare my order. All of the staff were very friendly. When I got home I chowed down into the chimichangas. Wow! Some of the best chimichangas I've ever had. I have had chimichangas to go from other restaurants in the area. All had ample sides of beans & rice, and a bag of home-made tortilla chips with 1 or 2 sauces. My steak torta had old meat dry and hard. They were so awkward serving us too,the cooks looked us over and turned around ignoring us, after getting our order the cook chased us down out the resturant to check our order , I guess she didn't know I paid soon after ordering at the front, showed her the receipts and she took them. Got a carne asada burrito from this place and it had more than 6 HUGE chunks of that rubbery gristle stuff. There are way too many Mexican joints in this area to have to deal with subpar food. Mi Guerrero is a small combo restaurant and grocery that seems like it might be halfway decent but unfortunately it isn't. We had a good sampling of their menu and it was all just a bit bla. The empanadas were flavorless, the chicken was especially bland and the beef was so far overcooked that the ground beef bits were CRUNCHY... yes little black balls of burnt beef, nasty. The tacos were barely ok as the steak was as chewy as cheap leather and the chicken was dry and flavorless and for some reason they only give you one tortilla with each instead of the normal two and thus it tends to fall apart quickly making a mess everywhere. The chicken nachos were the same chicken meat as in the tacos and empanadas, dry and flavorless with minimal cheese. What was really disappointing was the pricing they slammed us for this awfulness. It was as high as a premium mexican restarant and obviously we didn't get that level of food quality or service. Speaking of, the service was apathetic and for a very small place, absent quite often. We asked for a couple things here and there, more salsa, etc, and got well,... nothing... My coke was nice and cold though... although I had to beg to get some ice for my ice water... Save your adventurous eating for another place, this place offers nothing you are looking for. It doesn't have good food, good service or good prices. But at least they have a menu which puts them a little above La Victoria down the street. read more

Mi Guerrero grill is a Mexican restaurant and convenience store. I know they are at least open until 9pm. The food is authentic. The tacos al pastor are delicious,they mix the pork with pineapple and it works really well together. They have tamales from Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala and you could try each style if you wanted to. They have a great Mexican candy section. This place is an authentic gem that blows away anything you could get on broad street. If you're closer to South side you have more options but this is definitely the place to go on the East side. read more
