They even have vegan kimchi and were so nice to bring out vegan gochujang because the one they have on the table is not vegan. We got the dolsat bibimbap and I always say the stone bowl is absolutely worth the extra money. The best part is always the crispy rice. Tteokbokki Having a vegan option without seafood was a great find. Most of the time the sauces have shellfish in them and I don't have the patience to make it from scratch. The noodles were cooked perfectly and they give you two vegetable dumplings on top. The sauce was nice and spicy without being too overwhelming. Kimchi pancakes: wish they had a bit more kimchi in them than the batter, but still good. Japchae with tofu, nice and almost beefy tasting. The black pepper was a nice punch. Korean fried tofu so nice and crispy with a really good sauce. I have been missing KFC since I turned vegan and good to know they have a good substitute for it. Service A good sized family run place where you can sit down or get take out. You order at the counter and they have a screen or you can be like us and take their paper menu to a table. A few four sized tables and some smaller two seaters. There was plenty of take out and delivery while we were seated. Nothing like some older pictures seen here on Yelp of what others had previously been served that look "normal". My daughter even ordered extra protein and it ended up in the trash. Positives... kimchi, mandu and kimbap were ok... nothing spectacular but at least we were all willing to finish those. I was really excited to try out Gogi BiBimBap, as it was a surprise find next to a donut shop. The menu offers various appetizers, entrees, bibimbop bowls, their version of bento boxes, and even kid options. The hubs and I came here after lunch hours, so we just wanted to try a sampling. We ordered the Gogi Beef Box and the Gogi Spicy Pork Box, both coming with the marinated meats, rice, a side (we opted for kimchi and the spicy cucumber kimchi), and 2 fried pieces of mandoo. The meats were just not great - they didn't seem to be well-marinated, super bland, and was not like anything near of what it should taste like; not sure if this place was catering more towards the American palate? The rice was overcooked and super mushy, the mandoo was chewy, and the sides were forgettable. It was a pretty disappointing meal! The staff here were super friendly and welcoming, though. I ordered through Uber Eats and got a Dol Sot Bibimbap, baby Dol Sot bibimbap, spicy radish kimchi and a vegetable mandoo. I love Dol Sot Bibimbap so much and had never heard of a place that delivered Dol Sot. Usually it's just the regular bibimbap. I called this place out of curiosity and asked how they deliver this type of dish and they said they make it in the hot bowl, mix it, and then have it delivered. That's exactly what I was hoping for- for it to actually be cooked all around. it was so easy to mix. No one else does this!! As I was talking to this person (perhaps the owner??) they were extremely friendly and had a great sense of humor. That was very comforting for me to know I was getting food from a place that had nice, caring people. As I was waiting for my Uber Eats driver to pick up from the restaurant, the same individual called me in a semi panic saying someone came to pick the food up (saying my name) and left. few minutes later, someone else came by and then ANOTHER person. None of those people matched who was coming to pick my food up on the app. I assume it was an error through Uber Eats or someone saw my name on a bag and stole it. I felt so bad for the owner. They seemed very concerned and just wanted to make sure I got my food. I finally got another driver to get the food and the owner called me again apologizing and to let me know that he was remaking the food and we confirmed the new driver/driver name. The food arrived safe and sound + nice and hot! The dol sot bibimbap is sooo so good. I'm a little picky about this dish and I love this one. The vegetable mandoo is also blowing my mind. I actually might order this again before I have to head out of VA. Bibimbap Bowl serving portions on each dish very. I gave 4/5 stars only because the portion size per vegetable vary in the bowl... also if this is a regular size then a baby bowl is not worth $14 before tax and fees on Grubhub. If I mixed everything in the bowl together I am sure that would not have mattered but I like to eat them separately. The dumplings are delicious but I think they have been frozen before and are not fresh. I am sure the meat is made in large batches but would be better if the quality of meat was better. This place never steers me wrong. This is a great place for a quick fix on Korean food cravings. This is often my go to when I need to order something through GrubHub or to grab something quick on my way out during work. It's next to the Country Style donuts and smells great once you walk in through the door. My go-to order is always their Bulgogi Box. Every once in a while I'll decide between the spicy chicken or spicy pork (my fav is always the spicy pork - just gotta love the belly fat). With the Bulgogi box, you get to choose a "Bulgogi", choice of rice, choice of side, and 2 Mandoo (aka dumpling). For the rice option, you can pick white, brown or purple rice. For sides, you can pick Kimchi, cucumber Kimci, or radish. Then for the Mandoo, you get the option of pork, shrimp, or vegetable. The times that I've come here, my order is the spicy pork, white rice, cucumber kimchi, and shrimp Mandoo. I ordered it the first time and enjoyed it so much that their Bulgogi box is pretty much the only thing I will get from this location. The staffs have always been friendly and the place is always clean. I like that there are also outdoor seatings where you can enjoy the good weather (if it's available in VA). haha. I ordered delivery via UberEats. After spending too much time doing course work I wanted some take away! I placed my UberEats order for tteokbokki and spicy pork kimbap. My order took about 25-30 with delivery time so SUPER fast! Food arrived hot and steamy - the tteokbokki in a sealed plastic container and the kimbap in a styrofoam clamshell. The tteokbokki was sweeter than what I'm used to but I LOVED it. There were generous portions of rice cakes and fish cakes and I loved the addition of mandoo! They are topped with a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese which may be weird to people reading it but the spicy pepper sauce and the cheese just work together and balance each other so well! The kimbap were flavorful with generous portions of veggies and pork. They tasted incredibly fresh and the veggies still had a great crunch to them.
