    Tteokbokki

We came in for their first vegan night. The vegan menu did not disappoint. We got tteokbokki (more like a soup than a sauce), banchan trio (kimchi, chickpea kongjang, spicy broccoli), Korean fried tofu (this was our absolute favorite), kimchi jeon, peach soda. It was SO busy but staff handled it well and was friendly and enthusiastic. Very casual inside. You order at the counter and then they bring your food to the table. We sat outside at the few haphazard tables.

So excited we have a new authentic Korean spot in this area. Good Korean is few and far in between and hard to find in the Richmond area. The restaurant was very clean, simple decor. Service was good and fast. Let's talk about the food. This food was DELICIOUS and definitely met expectations. As someone who's picky when it comes to Korean food, I was genuinely impressed. The wings although on the smaller end were so good. Very flavorful. Delicious, and loved the sauce that was on it. 9/10. I ordered the Galbi, I appreciated that this was reasonably priced compared to other Korean restaurants in NOVA. This Galbi was incredibly flavorful although the sauce was a little overpowering. Meat quality was decent as well. I loved the portions of the meat. This dish comes with kimchi and cucumber kimchi. Both were really good and you could tell it wasn't fermented too long where it gets sour. Love it! Also loved that it had a hint of spice. If it was a little spicer then it would be PERFECT. 8/10 for this dish. I LOVE that they have the purple rice. I haven't found any Korean spots with that 9/10. My partner got the pork cutlet which he loved. They have ice creams and the viral ice cups and drink pouches which I loved! Definitely want to check out this spot. It's super charming and a hidden gem.

I was so happy to find this little family establishment. I ordered the most amazing kimbap... and it was completely made to order. I don't do egg and they made the rolls fresh. A bit expensive as I was wanted to order more!! We tried so many dishes and let me tell you how good their spicy tofu is I could eat this everyday. They even have a Vegan menu filled with flavor. If you are looking for something special, just ask. You never know.

Been craving some Korean food and I'm so glad I stopped by here! If you're looking for some great home cooked meal, this is the place! The vegan options were phenomenal, as well! I recommend the tofu soup, Korean fried tofu, and tofu galbi jjim! To finish off the dinner, topped it off by eating the berry bingsoo and truly felt refreshed afterwards. The service was out of this world! Can't wait to stop by again!!

The getting here was a tad difficult as WAZE was attempting to have us park on the street. The shop is the corner of the strip mall. You order at the counter and Bibimbap and lunch Bowen's your big choices. The K-pop on the tv added a little flair. Tons of flavor on the beef and pork the banchan was limited with one to a lunch box. Adds are a buck fifty. I had to add. The cabbage was good. The cucumber was possibly cut a tad small. Worth the search.

Appearance of the food looks and smells good but it just didn't have a lot of flavor. Felt like the radish Kim chi wasn't able to soak in the Kim chi flavor so it was just a bland raddish, the spicy chicken was very watered down like it was cooked in a pressure cooker(?) just was not able to absorb the flavor there but it was tender. TLDR: bland food, if you're looking for authentic, this isn't the spot

    Vegan Dolsot Bibimbap

Wonderful Korean restaurant with very friendly staff! Ordered the Doslot Bibimbap with vegan beef bulgogi and it was amazing especially with the gochujang sauce. Will definitely be back!

My partner loved their tofu wrap, and let the man working choose what to put on it. I, on the other hand, got the Bulgogi plate with tofu, and I didn't love it. The tofu was good, but the sauce came separately, which I was hoping it would come already on (although it was fried fresh, which was nice!). The kimchi was great. I didn't love my veggie Mandu. We sat outside, which was so nice on this beautiful spring day! Overall I probably wouldn't go again, but it's worth a try! I'm pickier than most, so if you like Korean food and are close by, go give them a try!

    Regular Bibimbap no egg

Went here to grab some lunch to-go. Not really busy. I saw the menu posted and the server who helped me was really friendly. He asked if it was my first time there and I said yes so he told me if I wanted my bowl heated it's $2 extra or something like that and since I don't like the fried egg on top of my BiBimBap, I said I'd like it regular. They had a vast array of veggies but I didn't spot the kimchi and didn't choose it. I asked him if that counted as a topping and he said yes but gave it to me anyway. I liked it spicy so that's the sauce I chose. When I got home, I was hungry and I ate this in record time. It was ok but there wasn't a lot of food and it wasn't spicy. I finished it all and I'm not a big eater so that says a lot. For the price ($14.29), I guess I'd want more food but it was ok. It tasted fine, but probably wouldn't return.

Gogi Beef Box - this beer was huge unflavored chunks that got tossed... big disappointment

And it's not dumbed down American Chinese at all. My husband and I both work from home so we get to go have lunch at area restaurants from time to time. We have our regular places and we order Peter Chang's for takeout sometimes, but when we were deciding where to eat and knowing we were short on time, I suggested Peter Chang. For our meal we ordered dumplings, which were amazing. The dipping sauce was to die for...I need to research it and try to make it. We also got the scallion pancake, which came with a curry dipping sauce. Also very good. For lunch there is a menu that is typical of Chinese restaurants where you get a choice of soup (I chose hot and sour) and rice (I chose white rice). For my main I selected hot and numbing chicken from the lunch menu. My husband got three pepper steak. We also got jasmine tea, although if you prefer an adult beverage they have a bar. The food was excellent, service was attentive but not overbearing. It was a great meal and we both have lots of leftovers. The restaurant can be a bit noisy because it's just a big open room, but it's okay. The table next to use was loud talkers with no inside voice, so I got to hear all about their trip to Charlottesville for a concert. Sounds like they had a good time. I wish people were more self-aware about the volume of their voices in public but maybe his ears were wrecked from the concert. P.S. Peter Chang was the chef to a Chinese dignitary like an ambassador so he's the real deal.

It had too much soy sauce and you couldn't taste anything else. The white rice was dry and undercooked. I feel like this is an utter travesty. I was at least expecting good rice. The golden mountain had great flavor but I think it was a mistake to eat it at home. It was mushy by the time we ate it. You can taste the spite in general Tso's chicken. It's like they don't want you to order it. The flavor is just sweet without any complexity. I've had better flavored general Tso sauce from grocery store brands. It was also mushy by the time we ate it. I would never order this again from them.

I am so glad my fiancé talked me into staying because this place absolutely knocked me off my feet. -I highly recommend the Nuclear Hawaiian and the Hello Kitty!!!! When we mentioned we weren't sure about the food, the bartenders jumped right in with recommendations and suggested the calamari and crab rangoon and they were spot on! When the food arrived, everything was perfectly cooked. The calamari was tender with a great texture, and the crab rangoon was crisp with amazing flavor. I went from I am not hungry to I could eat multiple plates of the same thing. We ended up staying for hours watching college football and mingling with some of the regulars. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and we genuinely had such fun conversation with people around us. We even heard from several folks that this place really comes alive during karaoke nights. At one point an older heavyset lady who we later found out was one of the cooks came out to chat with people. She was checking in to make sure everyone liked their food and catching up with the regulars like family. it really showed how much the staff cares about the people that walk through the door. We ordered takeout: -Korean wings half regular and 1/2 spicy. They were just okay. Better Korean wings are available around town so I'd skip these next time. - Beef gyoza- reminded me of the frozen ones I buy from Lotte or Trader Joe's. They were okay but I didn't get the 'made in house' vibe from these. I've had better. Wouldn't order them again. - Pork tonkatsu ramen spicy. Everything sounded good and everything I tried had excellent flavors. Prices are about what you'd expect. Tons of variety in sushi alone, but the menu is so huge that it can definitely be overwhelming. I'd recommend choosing one section and committing to choose from within it because it's very overwhelming otherwise. It's quite small inside, so you'll be very close to the table next to you. It's definitely not the place if you're bothered by close proximity to others or if you are uncomfortable conversing in close proximity to the strangers next to you. If you have any issues with strange people being near you, you may not be able to tolerate this place. I really loved the ceviche with the soy sauce, green onion, jalapeno and sesame seeds. It was very flavorful! This particular ceviche was in a different place on the menu. Just a heads-up, I had a great waiter who informed me that the tamago has gluten in the binder, so definitely bear that in mind if you have gluten issues, as opposed to simply reading the menu and judging by that. The Tina roll made gluten-free was delicious. Somehow, there's gluten in the spicy sauce so, unfortunately, that's part of the dish. I really would've enjoyed the spicy sauce on the sushi, but appreciated the waiter's forewarning that the spicy sauce has gluten so that I didn't get sick. As for service, it was exceptionally warm and welcoming staff, very genuine. The waiter was excellent, and he even gave a recommendation without waiting to be asked, which I love, and his recommendation for the soy-based ceviche was wonderful. It had a surprising and very much-appreciated bite from jalapenos. The more traditional ceviche had a clear sauce with sliced jalapenos, and that was good too. I love that this place isn't afraid of punchy spice. There are a number of spicy options, and they're never dumbed down to please everyone. The fish didn't taste quite as clean and fresh as I'm used to, but the flavors in all of the dishes were amazing! No one got sick or anything like that, but the flavor of the fish itself could've been better in that sense.
