    Oreo milk tea
    Rachel M.

I hadn't stopped by zzaam in quite awhile but I was in the area and wanted some boba. I had always had a good experience here, but something must have changed since the last time I was here. I ordered the taro milk tea which I've had and been happy with before but it just was not good. The milk tea was almost flavorless and had an odd aftertaste and the tapioca pearls tasted like plastic. With the other boba shops that have recently been added in the area, this will unfortunately not be on my list anymore.

    Taro Milk

Last year I loved going to Zzaam to get the taro slush during a hot summer day after work. Yesterday was my second time back this year and it was still watery. I didn't even taste the taro. I'm very disappointed that this keeps happening. I really use to love this place. Please make sure everyone is doing the measurements correctly the first time so customers won't have to ask you guys to remake it. The first image is the taro smoothie from last year and the second image is this year. You can see how it's watered down.

Since power is out due the storm today and I can't reheat my leftovers from yesterday, I chose to come to Zzaam on my way back from seeing my Dad. I have been wanting some Ramyun for about week now and I know this place always gets me right. Steamy vegetable Street ramen for the win!

This is a lot smaller than the other locations. Ordering is quite easy. You just pick each step on the menu and then the toppings if you wanted a poke bowl or noodle. I saw that Zzaam had Korean chicken and it comes with 6, 8 or 16 pieces. I can pick between spicy and mild. I opted for spicy in 6 pieces and they told me the wait time is 15 minutes since they have to make it. Which is fine with me. The chicken itself was delicious and certainly looks the part. Plenty of meat on the bones, which was a delightful surprise since most places like this are light in the meat department. My only gripe was that having chosen the spicy option, it wasn't spicy at all. Tasty, but not spicy. I did get the Strawberry Black Tea. It was refreshing and perfect for the weather today. I notice that a lot of people came here more for their boba tea and drinks and I can see why since the drinks are good and customizable.

Way too much food, took a lot home. The place was extremely pleasant & staff took time to explain, as we'd never had been there before. First time trying Korean food. It was fantastic ‼

Tiger milk tea and kokee milk tea

This review is for kokee tea inside zzaam. We got tiger milk tea and kokee milk tea and it seems like they didn't add any milk in it at all. I threw it away because it was just a cup loaded with sugar. I've never had bubble tea this sweet before. I came here with high expectations because of the kokee tea in carytown. I drove from richmond to try this location but I should've just stayed in richmond for a good bubble tea.

$13.99 less than a spoon of rice.

I really want to love this place but it has always been inconsistent with their food and service. I went there the first time about 1 1/2 yr ago and I thought their food was ok and the concept was pretty cool. The last time I went there was about 2 weeks ago and I will never go back. I ordered the beef bulgogi. We waited for the order to be completed and they never asked if I wanted the kimchi or wanted to substitute . I don't eat kimchi and I wished they have asked me what I wanted. The kicker is when I opened the cover and this is what I paid for $13.99. Some people don't even make $13.99/hr and this establishment wants to give you this. I am beyond shaking my head and I will not patron this place again.

Very good AMAZING WINGS. But plan to drop coin. It's not cheap. The front end turn over is like a revolving door.

We swung through on a road trip. They were out of half their menu, clearly understaffed, and it was a long wait for not many customers.

It's nice to know that the case is full and fresh. We chose 3 items - pork floss & scallion bun was the clear winner. It was so good (5/5) and great price. The red bean bun was good (4/5). The almond pastry was fine (3/5) but I wanted it to have more flavor and moisture. Often, you get a little almond paste in the middle, but this was mostly dry with just almonds and cranberries on the outside. I didn't dislike it, but would not order again. They had strawberry and cream cake samples by the register. Those were also just okay 3/5). I got an Americano and we sat in a cute booth. Overall a nice breakfast and would try a few other items next visit!

I had a pretty good experience from service to the quality of the menu items that I got. There were 4 staff members that were there taking and making orders. Even though I came in at a busy time, I didn't have very long to wait until I got my drink order. I grabbed a strawberry magic stick, an ube bun and a pineapple bun along with a mango orange tea. The strawberry magic stick and the pineapple bun were delectable and the ube bun was perfect. Ube isn't very sweet, and I'm glad that this cafe stayed true to the ube flavor instead of adding a lot of sugar or altering the actual taste! The mango orange tea perfectly pared with the pastries! They have bottled drinks and cakes as well, but I didn't get to try them! They have a handful of tables and chairs inside, and they had quite a bit of people in there. It seems like they are a fave spot for locals. Some customers were just hanging out and some had laptops out, so they might be a good spot to do some work, too. They also have some merch on shelves (plushies and cups) if you're interested in that kind of thing. Definitely recommend if you're craving some treats!
