Lemon Zest provided both delicious meals and excellent customer service, thanks to Natalie. We dined here on a busy Saturday night. We were seated immediately and didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our order consisted of 3 Combo # 1 with half rice and half salad, Chicken Lule Kabob with all garden salad, truffle Parmesan fries, Beef Kabob and Combo # 2 with half rice and half garden salad. Natalie also noted the fact that one of our family member has a peanut and tree nut allergy. We love dining at restaurants that accommodate people with peanut and tree nut food allergies. We have added Lemon Zest to our favorite restaurant list as we know Lemon Zest caters to families with food allergies. We also have shared and told our family and friends about Lemon Zest. The portions of their meals are plentiful and more than enough. The kabobs chicken and beef were all so tender and flavorful. The chicken and beef were not overcooked. The basmati rice was also cooked perfectly. We can't wait to come back to Lemon Zest and try other food items on their menu.

We ordered the zaatar and cheese stuffed mannaish-- blistered, golden, perfumed with wild thyme and sesame. It's the kind of bread that makes you shut up for a minute. The zaatar hits first -- earthy, sharp, unapologetically Levantine -- then the molten cheese pulls it together like a band that's been playing the same neighborhood spot for decades. Honest. Direct. No shortcuts. Then the adjaruli kachapuri lands on the table -- a canoe of blistered dough carrying a molten lake of cheese and egg. You tear into it, stir the yolk through the cheese, and suddenly you're participating in something ancient and slightly indecent. The crust has chew and character. The filling is rich without apology. It's comfort food with backbone. But here's the thing -- the soul of the place isn't just in the oven. It's Hasan and his family. They introduced themselves, welcomed us in like we were regulars, and made it clear this isn't just a business -- it's their table. That kind of hospitality can't be faked. It's either there or it isn't. Zaatar N'More is the real deal: generous food, proud hands, no pretense. Five stars. Go hungry. Leave like you've been taken care of

That destination was Panini Kabob Grill, located conveniently next to a main entrance in the mall. This time was a little bit different, though. I asked if she had seen the previous review we left? Surprisingly, she had. She was delighted. Mary noticed we had a dog with us and quickly ushered over a bowl of water. It was a large bowl. The dog was delighted. It was time to order. Mary was waiting on our selections with bated breath. We decided to order the same exact meals as last time. Once again, these meals were delicious. It seemed like it had been so long since our last meal at PKG. I'm so glad we came back. It was a decision that I'll never forget. We were delighted. Congratulations to the staff. My favorites are their kabobs and different modifications (think sour berries) of generous amounts of basmati rice that accompany their entrees. The Mast O' Mooseer (yoghurt with shallots) is another of my must haves. Generally, I always get the koobideh kabob to go, but this time, I was in the mood to sit down and have some chunks of meat. I chose the Shish Kabob, which is advertised as grilled filet mignon pieces. The restaurant prepares it medium well and past experience revealed it to be dry and tough. So I asked for it medium rare, for the first time. The dish that came to my table had marvelous optics. The beef was well charred, had an intoxicating aroma and well distributed coloring amongst the seven generous pieces. But there were a few problems. For one, I could not comfortably cut into the beef without using excess force, and shredding it. I asked for a sharper (steak) knife and was told that was all they had. While the meat was juicy, it was extremely chewy. I even questioned whether it was filet mignon, because it did not look and behave like it. I was told it was. If that was the case, could it have been a bad cut? This substantiates why I am leery about ordering meat pieces. Amongst the other items, the thick creamy yoghurt did not disappoint. Same with the grilled onion and tomato. The saffron rice is always fluffy and abundant. The green salad was crisp and refreshing. Take home message? Looks like I will have to skip the Shish Kabob and stick only with the koobideh, if I am ever in the mood for skewered grilled beef.

I ordered directly through their website. Shortly after, I received a call from a San Diego number to confirm the order. During the call, they asked me to provide my credit card information again, confirm who was picking up the food, and seemed confused because the person picking it up wasn't the credit card holder -- even though they were speaking directly with the card owner at the time. The whole process felt unnecessarily complicated and a bit uncomfortable. When we picked up the food, unfortunately the quality didn't make up for the confusion. The chelo kabob was dry, and no sauces were included at all. The salad had a noticeably sweet flavor that we weren't expecting and didn't really enjoy. To make things more frustrating, I noticed that the prices are higher when ordering over the phone compared to what's listed online. I understand that mistakes happen and restaurants can have busy days, but overall this experience left me disappointed.

Mediterranean food is pretty consistent (ie the same) for my tastes wherever I get it so I was pleasantly surprised by a few elements of Pi. The pies, for example...I tried the Zaatar pie...honestly it was not much more then a thick, airy, freshly made pita with Zataar and olive oil on it...but it's sometimes the simplest things which delight. The Zaatar pie delighted. I tried the Lebanese red wine (I mean, when in a Lebanese restaurant, why not?) And it stood up to any red I'd had anywhere else. The Tabouleh (one of my Mediterranean standards) was fresh made, filling, and a nice companion to the heavier Zaatar pie. It was awfully nice, and unexpected, to get complimentary baklava at the end of the meal...2 generous sized pieces which were pretty indulgent and eliminated the need to get (and pay for) dessert there or anywhere else. Service was lovely...the manager or owner took care of us and made us feel he was truly grateful that we were there. It's also a hookah spot...so if you're not into that vibe or smoke of any kind, (I'm not really) you'll definitely smell that anywhere you are in the restaurant, even if you're not seated next to those using hookahs. If you've got a hankering for Mediterranean...especially a place that has some unique things not at other Mediterranean spots, definitely give Pi on Sunset a shot.

Unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. The sandwich was extremely unappetizing. The bread was soggy and falling apart, and the filling looked and tasted like it had been sitting out way too long. The fries were even worse, they tasted stale, like they were at least a day or two old, and had that chewy, reheated texture instead of being crispy. Definitely not something anyone would want to eat.
