I love coming to Yard House and love the happy hour as well as the regular menu. This time just got lucky I got off work early and made it for happy hour. They sat as at a booth right next to the kitchen. We waited about 20 mins and nobody came to our table to take our order so we ended putting it through the machine on the table. Even after the food arrived a waiter hadn't came so had to tell the person bringing out the food if we could get water and finally a waiter came. I'm not sure what happened but when we were finishing a couple got sat besides us and they were helped in about 3 minutes. This is one of those places where part of the appeal is you know what to expect. However, our last two visits have left us wondering what in the world has happened to one of our favorite spots. On our most recent visit this past weekend, the A/C was broken (as we overheard the hostess telling another party - "again."). The temperature inside had to be 85°, and it was one of those situations where we were actively deluding ourselves that it wasn't that bad. And maybe it wouldn't have been if the service wasn't so painfully slow. I've lived in Pasadena since 2006 and the Yard House has always been a great place to grab a beer and get something to eat. The food is great and the service has always be exceptional. I love their 10 crispy chicken wings with the Korean Chile Garlic sauce. Damn good. This is a great place to come by yourself, bring a friend or even bring a large group of people. At any rate, here's to hoping the Yard House doesn't pack up and leave like neighbor BJs Brewhouse did a few years back. Haven't met one yet that I disliked and I've been coming here for years. And there's parking everywhere in the adjacent structure and across the street in another structure. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say I have not yet to do a review but here I am now and I want to say this past weekend I decided to come here after a concert and the food was really good for a late night dinner. The artichoke dip was actually really good a little creamy but still tasty and the wings were on point and of course the Shirley temple was on point with not too much grenadine. The customer service was exceptional upon arrival when we checked in with the host, he was phenomenal and very cool and had a really good demeanor a very jolly person. We were exhausted, so we needed that cheer up before we sat down. Our serve was really attentive as well and we was able to order our food right when we sat down, we didn't have to wait long at all and our food came out a decent time and everything we needed or refills came out fast, he made it happen. Overall, I love this location in Pasadena old town and I was so happy that it was not a long wait like it usually is. The parking is under the parking garage and you can validate in Yardhouse as well. I would definitely come back here per usual get some more wings. We ordered a bit of everything off the menu and enjoyed each dish: Cobb salad: light and refreshing, I requested dressing on the side because I didn't want too much. The only thing I didn't like was the bleu cheese crumbles but that's on me for not requesting to take it off. I especially liked how there were edamame, as that's not an ingredient normally in a Cobb. Spicy tuna stack: tuna tartare with a mild kick. Didn't taste spicy at all. Though this was on the lighter and healthier side, it was filling. Chicken wings: we got the Korean chili garlic which meant it was a gochujang based sauce that had a sweet undertone with a kick to it. Wings were fried crispy and held up nicely against the sauce. Cheeseburger: standard bar burger. I wish the bread was softer and less dense. With so many great burgers in LA, this burger was forgettable. The service, although friendly and courteous, was slow on a Wednesday around 8:30 pm with less than half capacity. What initially attracted me to Yard House was their Happy Hour, which runs Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During this time, they offer over a dozen appetizer options, ranging from classic items like pizza and chicken wings to more unique choices such as poke nachos and chicken lettuce wraps, all priced around $9 or less. My friends and I arrived around 5:00 p.m. and were seated with our waiter, Francisco. We decided to try the Poke Nachos, Fried Calamari, Chicken Lettuce Wraps, and Spinach Dip. Starting with the Poke Nachos, I appreciated the combination of flavors. The tuna poke, seaweed bits, avocado, and (presumably) spicy mayo sauce on top made the first few bites very enjoyable. However, as I continued, I noticed that the sauce on the chips became overly salty. Next, the Fried Calamari had a nice, crisp texture in each bite. The accompanying tomato sauce and tartar sauce paired well with the calamari. While it wasn't anything extraordinary, it's a safe choice if you're a fan of fried calamari. The Chicken Lettuce Wraps were less to my liking. The chicken itself was too salty for my taste, and while the dish is served with both a sweet and sour sauce and a peanut sauce, I found the peanut sauce to be the standout. If the chicken's seasoning were toned down, the sauces could shine better. I would consider ordering this again, but only if the chicken flavor is adjusted to be less salty. Lastly, the Four-Cheese Spinach Dip was nothing remarkable. If you enjoy spinach dip, you might find it enjoyable as a snack, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. I would likely choose a different appetizer next time. Overall, the food met my expectations for an American-style restaurant with a diverse selection of ethnic-inspired appetizers.
