Stopped by for lunch and wanted to try their DineLa menu. I ordered the Brussel sprouts, Hawaiian Fried Rice, and chocolate cake. I also got a Mai Tai for Mai Tai Mondays ($7.75). The drink is a bit stronger than anticipated and I asked my server if she could add extra pineapple juice to make it sweeter. The Brussel Sprouts were good but I wish I had more of it rather than just the leaves. The fried rice was good and the Sriracha added a nice touch to it. The server brought out the pineapple cake instead of the chocolate cake and forgot to tell me that they ran out. I was kind of disappointed at that but ate it nonetheless. Parking can be found in both of their lots and on the street.
I came here for Dine LA with group of friends on a Friday night. It was pretty crowded, but we were able to get seated rather quickly. We sat on their outside patio, which was pretty spacious and they had the Dodger game on. A lot of the menu items we wanted to order off the prefix menu they were out of however. I was in a group of six and not all the appetizers and entrées came out together, so it was a little awkward. But besides that the food was good and there was plenty of parking in the back.
My review: 3.5/5 Came here for an impromptu office lunch yesterday. I had read that the last day of DineLA was yesterday, and because of that, I had to check out their offerings. The outside is iconic as ever; the outer decorations was one of the primary reasons I decided to save this place on my list. The parking situation was a bit hectic, as their primary lot in the front is extremely small. After we found street parking, we found out that there was additional parking for the restaurant in the back. Nevertheless, after parking, we went inside of the restaurant. The inside fit the theme of the outside very nicely, as both were tiki/Hawaiian themed. We had discovered that they offered 15% off of your meal if you're dressed in Hawaiian prints, and we all joked that we could have gotten a big discount! We sat in a booth and placed our order. The restaurant was fairly busy and there was one guy working the floor. I felt bad for him, as he looked like he was running around everywhere. However, when it took about 30-40 minutes for our food to come out, I started to feel fairly impatient. The DineLA menu wasn't extensive but it was a good deal for $25. Also, the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The brussel sprouts were good, the patty melt was equally good, and the pineapple upside down cake was also okay. The sandwich definitely needed something to cut the fattiness, and I opted to use the hot sauce on the table. Would I come back to Canoe House in the future? I think so, but definitely not for DineLA again. I think thats what made the restaurant busy. Either that, or they really need to hire more staff during times like these.
Hubs & I have been to Canoe House a few times and got to try their breakfast/brunch, lunch & dinner menus. They have daily Happy Hour in the bar area from 3-6pm. It's a Hawaiian-themed decor restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Their DineLA menu was a pretty good deal for $25, but I felt like their entree choices were meh. I like their Ultimate Kalua Pork Nachos, but their full appetizer (Pupus) version. (The Happy Hour version is a bit smaller, and I didn't feel like I had enough pork.) I also love their Chilled Gazpacho! Hubs tried their Short Rib Loco Moco and enjoyed it. I think we both didn't think much of the Salmon Skillet Hash, Teriyaki Burger, Short Rib Melt, or the Aloha Fish Tacos - all of their portions are quite generous, but these dishes were all a little underwhelming. Service is always fairly quick. Restrooms are clean. Plentiful parking in their lots or one behind the restaurant as well that are all free.
I really liked it! It is a tiki themed restaurant with Asian/Caribbean/Hawaiian fusion. The service was really quick and the food was great. I went for DineLA at dinner. The spicy tuna crispy rice was good, and the rice was very crispy! The loco moco short rib was very tender and came with 2 scoops of their fried rice which I really liked as well as 2 fried eggs and gravy on top. For dessert I had the pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream. I liked the spiced flavor of the cake but there wasn't too much pineapple in it. I also ordered a cocktail, the lavender lemon drop martini. I think it was the best lemon drop I've ever had. You could really taste the lavender which I feel like is too light in lavender drinks other places. I will say it is a sweet drink but that is what I like for cocktails.
Came for Dine LA, never been here before ! Very lovely and the bartender was excellent. The value for $25 was fantastic and the drinks were very affordable and strong. Had painkiller and a Bloody Mary! laid back vibes and nice menu. Parking was easy, to the side of the building and free after 6pm

I ordered the waffle with a side of spam and the fish taco plate. The daily specials especially taco Tuesday and aloha Fridays are spectacular. The staff and service are top notch and they are super accommodating. Definitely check this spot out for affordable and delicious eats.
I've been trying to find a Hawaiian food spot and came across this place for Dine LA. For $25, you can't beat the deal! The truffle brussels, fish and chips, & chocolate lava cake were all very solid!! This place gives off Hawaii vibes with all of its decor!
Visited this restaurant to participate in DineLA and also because my boyfriend went to school in Hawaii so wanted to get him some authentic food. We decided to attack the DineLA family style and share the first two courses of our meals. For the appetizers the Brussels sprouts were crispy like I like but had no additional flavor or glaze, they also came in the tiniest bowl (likely used for soy sauce or other sauces). The crispy tuna rice was good but also very small portions; probably my favorite of the night. For the main course I got the fried coconut shrimp which were also very good and not too" coconutty". I was excited to try Hawaiian fried rice but it unfortunately had no flavor and I also did not like spam which I tried for the first time. The boysenberry cobbler for dessert was tasty but wish it had more of the crust.
Party of 3 on a Monday for lunch. Parking was no problem with a handful of spaces available. No wait. Came in for the dineLA menu options. Food overall was good. Appetizers were small but overall portion for me with entree and dessert was just perfect (not too full). Service was good and bathrooms were clean. The space is a crossover between Islands + Damons. Cute spot...would return if in the area.
My friend and I both gave Canoe House a try one Sunday afternoon for brunch and bottomless mimosas. Here's a review of our experience: Bottomless Mimosas: priced around $16 per person which was a pretty good deal! The staff is pretty diligent on coming around and refilling your glass whenever they catch it bordering empty. I'd say that they are pretty generous with their pours of champagne as well! Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice: The rice was very crunchy, which was nice! My friend and I really enjoyed it. Mac and Cheese with pulled pork BBQ: Big portion size! I was able to bring it back home for left overs, however, it went very quickly back at home. It was a really good dish. The pulled pork is sweet and the mac and cheese is very creamy. Overall, a very well-rounded dish. Ultimately, my friend and I would be interested in returning to the Canoe house in the future and exploring more of the menu! The staff, especially our server Christop, were very friendly and attentive. It was a great experience :)
4 stars My first DineLA experience of 2026. The Canoe House is a restaurant I've had bookmarked for years and I just never had a hankering to go to...until today! DineLA has always been a hit or miss for me, so I'm happy to report that I had a good experience! For DineLA ($25), this is what I got: Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice: I loved how the tuna wasn't super spicy. However, the rice block was too thick to eat comfortably and I didn't think it was crispy enough, but I still thought it was super tasty. 4/5 stars Short Rib Loco Moco: I've never been a fan of the loco moco, but, today, I decided to give it another try here. The short ribs were really tender and I felt like I got a lot of meat. The gravy was pretty good to me. But, as an Asian person, I need a lot more rice that what they gave lol...however, it was already a pretty filling meal. I had to take the rest to go. 4/5 stars Chocolate Lava Cake w/ Vanilla Ice Cream: I'm not super into desserts, so I'm not the best judge of this, so I'll just say that it is definitely a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. 3/5 stars There is a small parking lot on site and plenty of street parking. Service was ok. Decor was Hawaiian-themed and very cute. Overall, I had a good experience and would come back.

2 Avocado Tacos w Rice n Beans. Plate looked colorful and pretty, rice good and beans good. Avocado Portion was very small, deep fried wedge of avocado. One small wedge per taco. It was not very crispy, Soggy from the toppings. Overall it was filling and satisfying for vegetarian dish. Salsa was good and spicy. read more

Ordered: - Spicy tuna crispy rice (4.5/5): number one reason we wanted to come, loved the crispiness of the rice and freshness of the tuna. Sauce wasn't too spicy and perfectly complimented the amount of rice included per portion - Chicken tortilla soup (4/5): warming and delicious. - Short rib loco moco (4.5/5): generous portion size that was a flavor bomb with a nice fried rice base. The boneless short rib was super flavorful too - Pineapple upside down cake (4/5): Wasn't too sweet and loved how moist the cake was. The coconut ice cream provided a cool and fun contrast to the warm cake - didn't even need to use any whipped cream that was given on the side! Like a tropical spin on bread pudding :) Overall (4/5): Came here on a Tuesday evening for the DineLA course. There was plenty of parking in the front and back lot. The establishment was pretty quiet since we arrived early so we got our choice of seat and placed our order promptly. Service was friendly. We loved the variety of food that we were able to try thanks to the DineLA menu and everything was well executed - we walked away super satisfied! read more

There are so many yummy options on the menu, I will defiently be back to try! My friend and I ordered the chicken and waffles; however, I wanted pancakes instead of waffles. The pancakes were ok but after trying the waffle I realized I should have kept the waffle! It was suprisingly flavorful. We also got this appetizer that had fried white rice and spicy tuna. It was sooo good to me but my friend wasn't the biggest fan. read more

Yummy Hawaiian themed brunch please with affordable bottomless mimosas! My group of six were quickly seated on the outdoor patio and we all enjoyed our food. I loved my macadamia pancake! Servers weren't stingy with the mimosas either and our waitress was good at checking in with us. Would definitely come back for a group brunch! read more
This is a perfect spot for a classic American-style breakfast. It's usually quick to get seated, though weekends can get a little busy. The theme inside is very Hawaiian with cute booths that make the space feel welcoming. The food was good, we had their breakfast omelets and macadamia pancakes, which were delicious! Unfortunately the previous times we came it has always been great service but this time the experience fell short due our server. From the start, our server, Jayda (or Jada), was very dry and short with us when taking our orders. She forgot to bring out our side order and the extra spread we requested, and there were no check-ins at all throughout our meal. Every time she passed by, she avoided eye contact, which made it frustrating when we were trying to get her attention to pay. Eventually, we had to go to the hostess stand to ask for our check. When our server finally came over, she seemed bothered and just handed us the bill without a word. Maybe she was having a rough day, but overall the service came across as inattentive, dismissive, and unwelcoming, which really took away from what could have been a great experience. read more

Great food here tastes like a nice home cooked meal. Very generous portions, I cannot get enough of the short rib loco moco. They have a few great classic beers on taps and pitchers available. The service is quick and fast from order to food on the table felt like 15 mins or less for my party if 16! I did not grab names but our one server and one assistant server did not let any waters of coffees run empty. The ambiance feels almost like a mom & pop restaurant friendly staff and big smiles all around. They really go the extra mile I have gone here quite a few times and I felt compelled to leave this review. Strongly recommend Mac & cheese and short rib but they have other great Hawaiian classics. I have not had anything bad in this menu yet! I will definitely be returning my next stop is for brunch! read more
I had lunch here today for DineLA. I arrived just before lunch at 11:30am. Just a few others before me. We were all greeting by a very nice smiling Host/Server named Tiffany. It was a bright sunny day and I opted to eat at the outside patio. The food came out quickly by different friendly staff. The food was very tasty and I got a little Hawaiian vibe with the decor and food. Restaurant is clean and inviting. Do order the Hawaiian Fried Rice. The Loco Moco looked good also. Don't forget to get the Pineapple Upside Down Cake for a delicious Dessert. Say hi to Tiffany and the friendly staff. Parking: a small lot and street parking available. Obey any parking restrictions. We had such a great time at Canoe house! We went for thirsty Thursday and they had happy hour prices for their beers all night. The happy hour brussels sprouts were very crispy and their burgers and fries were so good too! The gentleman at the bar took great care of us all night and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly too. I was able to park in their parking lot but there is street parking around as well. Will come back again for more happy hour fun! read more
My first time at Canoe House, and wow--the ambiance is absolutely on point! It instantly gave me Hawaii vibes, like I had actually been transported there. The food was outstanding--everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. My absolute favorite was the Mac N Cheese topped with BBQ pulled pork--comfort food perfection. The short rib loco moco was also delicious, and the Hawaiian fried rice did not disappoint. Service was attentive and friendly, which really added to the experience. I'm already looking forward to going back--especially for Mai Tai Mondays! Definitely a spot I'll be returning to again. read more

I met up with friends recently at this restaurant. We had great service, good food and drinks (save room for dessert). The decor was Hawaiian style with tropical drinks. Thank goodness for Yelp friends that discover these places I didn't know about. This cute Tiki bar was a real treat! We are able to get a circular booth and could see and hear everyone in our group. MENU HIGHLIGHTS: -Loco Moco with Short Rib -Spicy Tuna with fried rice. -Fish and Chips -Herb Crusted Mahi Mahi -Sesame Teriyaki Salmon -Kalua Pork w/rice/black beans -Hawaiian Fried Rice -Aloha Fish Tacos (I chose Gazpacho soup for my side dish) -Pineapple Upside-down Cake with ice cream They open at 9AM for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch begins at 11:30 - Monday through Friday. Breakfast menu is available for week day lunch too. Note: Online orders and delivery available through Door Dash. Saw them part of dineLA , and a Hawaiin restaurant seemed cool to try. Came on a Sunday evening for a date night. Service was good. Appetizers were good spicy tuna on rice was great. Pork tacos were good, the short rib locco moco even better . Desserts were great , boysenberry cobbler was better than expected. Prices were reasonable on the menu, worth visiting. Not a fancy restaurant, but quite solid. Overall I would say 4-4.25 read more

Came here for the DineLA menu and got the following: - crispy truffled Brussels: super crispy and fried perfectly! Great appetizer to start (and to pretend that you had greens for the meal)! - short rib loco moco: came with two fried eggs on top. This dish is a must order! Super tender short ribs and the crispy pinion rings on top is literally cherry on top! Initially I was hesitant since I thought the gravy would be too heavy not not at all - it's perfectly balanced! - pineapple upside down cake: came with a big scoop of pineapple ice cream with actual pineapple chunks in them! Awesome dessert - another must order! The interior decor gives off a very Hawaiian vibe as well and staff are super friendly! They have both indoor and outdoor seating! read more
A great casual, but refined restaurant for weekend brunch, lunch and dinner, especially when craving Hawaiian food in Pasadena/South Pasadena. Nice sized menu, decent prices, comfortable seating and attentive, efficient service. I like that even though that the restaurant in full with diners, I have never had to wait long for a table. I am usually seated right away, even without a reservation, which makes it quite convenient. Free parking (up to 4 hours) behind the restaurant is also a plus. Added plus is the location. Cute boutiques and shops in the area make it great for a little post-meal stroll. read more
Dine LA Dine LA Dine LA.....$25 lunch or dinner we had brussels si light crispy with truffle flavor. Crispy sushi so delicious and satisfying! had Pulled Pork Melt sandwich cane with crunchy fries! Asked for side of ranch. Was delectable. For the finale....hot chocolate lava cake and upside down pineapple cake BOTH came with whip cream and scoop of vanilla ice cream. Dinner in South Pasadena, California... Looking for a tiki bar vibe? Come to Canoe House! It was Cinco de Mayo and (Japanese) Boys' Day on 5-5-25. It was a day to celebrate! We wanted tacos, and wanted to stay clear of Mexican restaurants because we had "issues" in the past with "crowds"... LOL! Fortunately, Nikki B., did some research and chose Canoe House! It was perfect because of the free parking, fun ambiance, and great, efficient, and attentive service! The Grilled Fish Tacos were healthy and tasty! Met up with a group of friends here for our Cinco de Mayo dinner celebration and had a lovely time! Food was decent, drink specials to suit all tastes, vibes were chill and fun, and service was excellent - shout out to our server Mackenzie for taking such great care of us! While this is a Hawaiian-themed restaurant, we opted to celebrate here bc they have a variety of tacos on the menu as well as margaritas. It was a great spot bc it was lively without being crazy busy and overrun for the holiday. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated immediately upon arrival. For our food, several of us got the Aloha fish tacos, some pork tacos, a moco loco, and an order of Parmesan truffle fries. I was one of the fish taco orders and I opted for the side of gazpacho which was a unique menu item. A sampled the truffle fries and they were delicious with a nice texture. The fish tacos were plated beautifully but were very bland and the fried fish had a strong oil flavor that tasted old so I wouldn't get this again. But the gazpacho was surprisingly delicious- it's a cold tomato style soup that tasted like a nice salsa and the large bits of avocado really made it a nice accompaniment. I also couldn't resist trying a side of their macaroni salad and it was a solid recipe - if you like macaroni salad it won't disappoint. Our table enjoyed several varieties of the margaritas as well as a tiki torch drink from the specials menu and all seemed to enjoy the libations. We also tried the pineapple upside down cake and it was a hit as well. For the hubby, I took home an order of the bow tie pesto pasta with salmon and a pineapple upside down cake and he loved all of it. The coconut ice cream that comes with the cake is especially nice. The decor here is reminiscent of a beach cottage and is really fun - the bar area even has a huge outrigger canoe hanging from the ceiling and beachy tiki hut bar vibes. I was looking for a place where a group of friends could celebrate Cinco de Mayo without the crowds. Canoe House had tacos, margaritas, and easy parking, which was a bonus. I've been to Canoe House pre-Yelping days. It's a homey restaurant that serves Hawaiian cuisine and tropical libations in a casual environment. The décor is reminiscent of a Hawaiian plantation and the ambience emits warm Aloha vibes. Our server McKenzie was fantastic! (5 stars for her!) We started with drinks. Two Margaritas (Canoe House & Outrigger) and Tiki Torch, which was a special. Mine was the Outrigger Margarita, which is their version of a Cadillac. It was stiff and tasty. For about $2 more you can order your cocktail in a Tiki Mug. You don't get to keep the glass, but you do get an additional 2 oz. There were four orders of tacos - three Aloha Fish & one Crispy Kalua Pork, the Short Rib Loco Moco, a side of Mac Salad, and Truffle Parmesan Fries. Two of the four taco dishes were served with Chilled Shrimp Gazpacho and two with rice & black beans, as requested. Of course, the fries was my selection. They were perfectly cooked and generously topped with parmesan, which made them extra yummy. For dessert we all shared the Pineapple Upside Down Cake, which came with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. The cake was tender, moist, & delicious. (Thank you Rose!) If you're looking for a place with good comfort food and a relaxed setting - Canoe House is it. Have you canoed? We canoed and no one even tipped the canoe over! LOL Seriously, I met a group of my YE friends for "Cinco de Mayo," Hawaiian style and it was fabulous! A mix of Mexican & Hawaiian dishes...soooo good! We had the option to order our cocktail's in a Tiki glass for an extra $2 and 2 oz. But we passed...maybe next time! There is an outdoor patio with a large TV to watch sports. The inside has a decent size bar area also with several tv's, and a nice size dining room. Very chill vibe with surf boards hanging all around. We ordered: Fish Taco Plate w/rice & black beans and a few with gazpacho 5/5 Side of Fries 4/5 (not that crispy) Pork Taco Plate 5/5 Pineapple upside down cake 5/5 Margarita's 4/5 We had a great time with Mackenzie as our server! Came here with the family and had a great meal. Lots of great options on the menu it was hard to decide what to get, we all 6 got something different and everyone really enjoyed their meal. Service was good and it definitely carried through the "canoe house" theme throughout the restaurant. read more

When are the bottomless mimosas?
For weekend brunch- Saturday and Sunday up until 2pm to purchase with a meal; and the bottomless mimosas have a 2 hour limit. It's still plenty of time for drinking with a friend or a party. Enjoy!
Anyone know if breakfast is all day?
I believe breakfast is only on weekends and until 2 pm. At least that is when bottomless mimosas stop :P
