I tried quite a few skewers, and they were all amazing the smoky flavor from the real wood charcoal really comes through. The Yunnan rice noodle soup had a rich, comforting broth, and I loved the baked oysters and scallops too. Definitely worth a visit
Yami Bowl seemed have transitioned into a Chinese BBQ skewer bar that serves a la cart Chinese items. Either way we decided to dine here and parking is quite scarce but we found one, phew. Walked in and the the restaurant totally remodeled but in a good way of course. We got seated and was served a pitcher of water along with complementary peanuts and sunflower seeds. We decided on a few skewer items along with an order of their Mapo Tofu. Took a bit of time but good eventually came out and they really got the best mapp Tofu. The skewers are good too no complaints. Will return to check out other items in the menu
Did a takeout order (called in since the online ordering system was not working). I ordered 5 dishes - basil shrimp fried rice, pad see ew, spicy popcorn chicken (large), red fish curry, and salt and pepper fried fish fillet. Portion sizes were very generous and service was friendly. The "spicy" food really isn't spicy so you might need to add spice yourself.
Randomly happened upon this spot on a weekend. The prices and the generous portions description caught my eye. They have Chinese/Thai/Japanese fusion food on the menu. I tried the Pad Kee Mao and Salt and Pepper Fish. I'd say the Pad Kee Mao had really good noodles, but the basil flavor was strong for me but that is totally preference. The standout for me was the fish - it was one of the best I've had in a while! I found it to be crisp on the outside, the inside super tender, and the batter ratio and flavor to be perfect. When I was there it was two guys taking the order and also cooking/prepping. They have a kiosk for ordering inside. It's located in a smallish plaza but there is a good amount of parking although with a lot of dead ends. No outside dining is available.
The yelp has not been updated, but the owners of Yami Bowl have changed. The mom and pop owners are no longer here and all the Thai food has been removed from the menu. It seems they have inherited some recipes, but the chili oil sauce has changed.
My sister-in-law came over the other day and brought some dishes from Yami Bowl for lunch. She brought Paf See Ew with shrimp, Chicken Pad Thai, Eggplant Fish with Basil Sauce and Stir Fry Green beans. The Pad See Ew and Pad Thai were good. But, Eggplant was overcooked and soggy and the green beans were also overcooked. I'm not sure if the 10 - 15 minute drive to our place contributed to the issues? My sister-in-law said the staff were friendly and courteous. She also said the ordering process went pretty smoothly.
Missing that comfort feeling of home food, come to Yami Bowl! Came on a Saturday morning and was greeted by a really nice lady who was happy we came in. This place is the exact epitome of what you call mom and pop shop. We ordered the top seller basil fish fillet and eggplant and the pad see ew. The basil fish did not disappoint as it reminded me of what real chinese food tastes like. The pad see ew did have more of a soy sauce touch to it, but it still was very delicious. The prices are also reasonably priced which made the food even more delicious. Thank you Yami Bowl, I will definitely be returning!
Went in expecting the Thai fusion spot I remembered, but Yami Bowl has clearly changed owners because it's now a Chinese restaurant. Decided to stay and order anyway, 'cos at the end of the day it's folks trying to make a living. We got the salt and pepper fish, garlic eggplant, chicken chow mein, and pork katsu. Everything was solid. The salt and pepper fish wasn't overseasoned like other places do it, and the garlic eggplant was flavorful. The chow mein was standard. Only minor note is the pork katsu was a bit on the thin side, but it still tasted good. They might have been a northern Chinese place because they also offered skewers, but I didn't try them. No American Chinese takeout here, btw. One suggestion for the new owners: consider a name change. While I was there, a few people came in asking for Pad Thai, clearly not realizing the restaurant isn't Thai anymore. Meanwhile I'm sure people who actually wanted Chinese food would have come if the name advertised it. Because of all the confusion I think I was the only customer who stayed in the 15 minutes I waited for food. Overall, good food, fair prices, and worth a visit if you're in the mood for real Chinese cooking. I'd go back.
This restaurant gives a hole in the wall type of place and I loved it. Apparently most people do takeout orders here but me and my girlfriend decided to dine in. The workers were super nice and friendly with us. This is a Thai Chinese fusion spot, so do not expect authentic Thai food here. Pad Thai (4.8/5): So delicious and such a big portion. The chicken they used were so tender and the flavor of the overall dish was great. I've had many Pad Thais from Thai restaurants and this one can compete with them. Pad See Ew (4.5/5): Tasted more like a chow fun but it was still amazing. The flavor of soy sauce was strong and the meat/broccoli were cooked perfectly. Again, great portion and I would definitely get this again.
Came here on afternoon with some friends got the pad Thai and crispy fish. The food quality was really good and I liked the pad Thai with their spicy sauce. Inside the service was quick and very welcoming. Would recommend!
Unassuming and tasty spot for some takeout! I highly recommend the Pad See Eaw! The noodles are on the thinner side, but the texture was perfect. Not too saucy, but a little salty and garlicky. The chicken was also super tender!!! I devoured this and will be coming back here again for sure! The staff here are super nice too!
Nice small place. Really friendly service with the wait staff. Decent food. Pad Thai: 3.5 stars. Decent flavor. Good sized shrimp. About 8 shrimp. Salt and pepper fish: 2 stars. battered fish. Taste ok with the onions and veggies but the fish itself had no "salt & pepper" fish. A little bland. Pineapple fried rice: 3.5 stars. nice wok flavor. Good size prawn. Tofu and fish in black bean sauce: 3 stars. A little bland but good size pieces of tofu and fish. May need chili sauce for flavor. Eggplant and shrimp: 4.5 stars. Perfectly cooked eggplant. Good flavors/sauce. My favorite of all the dishes we have tried.

Was craving some thai food and this spot popped up with good reviews so we decided to go give it a try for dinner. The owner was welcoming right when we walked in and gave us a table with menus. I got the thai tea and loved that it wasn't too sweet like other thai teas are. We couldn't decide between the pad thai or pad kee mao dish so we decided to get both and both were really good in their own ways! The pad thai wasn't spicy at all but she gave us some chili oil that was made in house, and it tasted so good mixed with the pad thai. The pad kee mao was already spicy enough for me and was really flavorful as well. The portions were really generous for the price and the food was really tasty as well. Will definitely be coming back to support this lovely mom and pop shop. Loved that the owner checked up on us while eating and even got us to-go boxes after without us asking. Great service and great food! read more

This is the literal textbook definition of a mom and pop shop. The food was affordable + good. We were looking at the menu outside of the restaurant and debating whether we wanted sushi or thai food, but the owner was the ultimate reason why we chose to dine in at this place. We were pretty much the only diners inside the restaurant at the time so it was pretty quiet, but the owner was very nice and chatted with us a lot. She showed us the fresh thai basil leaves they just got + recommended dishes + joked around with us a lot. Her customer service made our experience great. * Green Curry with Chicken - 5/5 stars. The curry was very flavorful and spicy. We asked for Thai-spicy and the intensity was perfect. The amount of chicken that went in our dish was also insane. Usually other restaurants try to skimp you on the protein, but I literally had such a difficult time finishing all the chicken LOL. * Pad Thai with Shrimp - 5/5 stars. It's just like your typical pad thai but even better with their house chili oil + the smoky aroma from stir-frying on a wok. * Thai Tea - 4/5 stars. The thai tea was a little too earthy for my taste and needed more evaporated/condensed milk, but overall was good. Overall 4.5/5 stars but I'm rounding up for the review and because the owner was so sweet. I would return to try the thai basil chicken like the owner recommended! read more

I'd recommend going at night because they have grilled skewers in the evening, and they're really delicious -- I tried them when they first opened. During lunchtime, they only have fried skewers, but the malatang is also pretty good. read more
We always drove past this place whenever we go to HMart, Costco, and other grocery stores. Honestly, why did we not go here sooner. The prices were very affordable and for what you get it's A LOT. * pineapple fried rice - the rice was soft but not mushy. The chicken was marinated well with some sort of soy sauce like flavor. It also had a crisp to it when you chew it. They give a lot of meat to the rice! * orange chicken - from the photo, they give half the plate filled with chicken. The orange marinate was not too salty nor overly sweet. The chicken itself had a small crisp and inside was very juicy. * chicken potstickers (not pictured) - whatever dipping sauce we got, that was so yummy. It was sweet and salty with some sesame like flavoring. The potsticker itself was like every potsticker, can't go wrong. Overall, this place is a hidden gem! We would be definitely come back here to try what the owner recommended us! She recommended the eggplant and shrimp in basil sauce and the pad kee Mao. read more

THIS PLACE WAS SOOOO GOOD. HIDDEN GEM. MUST GO. My brother and I tried this place and it was very empty when we got there. It is a family run business and the owner was sooo nice. She emphasized that their chili oil was cooked by them. The chili oil did not disappoint because it was actually spicy. Moving on to the dishes, it was sooooo flavorful. The prices were also great since the dishes were both $14 with big portions. The Singaporean Noodles were cooked to perfection. The chicken was so soft and tender and melted in my mouth. The Teri Mayo shrimp was soooo good and sooo creamy and had such strong flavors. Definitely recommend these two dishes with the chili oil since it definitely elevated the dishes if you like spice. This is easily my top 10 favorite restaurants of all time. Again, the owner was very nice and she talked with us a lot since there was no one else in the restaurant. The inside has a lot of seating so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING TO THIS PLACE and giving them lots of joy and business!!!! read more

We read other people's review and decided to give this place a try. It's amazingly good!! It already smells too good in the trunk on the way home. Portion size is great, flavor is great. Now just regret I haven't try it earlier. The boss is very nice and friendly, showed me my food before I take it making sure everything is correct. This will be my go to place from now on. Note: the pictures are not showing the full portion, we couldn't wait to eat right away after open the boxes, and then I decided to give it a review during eating. read more
Yami Bowl initially made me think that it was a fast casual Chinese/ Japanese restaurant that focused on bowls of food with one or two toppings, or a plate lunch. Think Yoshinoya, Waba Grill, and Flamebroiler--can you blame me? Yami Bowl is much more like your standard hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. Service with classic fares, but also twists, like popcorn chicken? The portion sizes are generous and the taste, while not exactly what I'd call, "authentic", it was still pretty good. Maybe a slightly different take on some of their dishes, but still quite close. Inside limited seating with not really much decor. Just one of those places that probably focuses more on the take out business. Parking is limited in the small lot shared by multiple restaurants, but enough. I'd consider visiting again. read more
This place is a hidden gem! My partner and I were craving things that would be great with rice and Yami Bowl did not disappoint. Their menu has a nice variety, offering teriyaki, Chinese, and Thai food! Tonight, we had the Combo Bowl and Eggplant and Fish in Garlic Sauce, both of which were excellent. The dishes were very comforting... reminds me of some really good home cooking. The Combo Bowl is a plate with rice, veggies, chicken teriyaki and gyudon beef. It was delicious, but the chicken blew us away. It was smokey, tender, juicy, and just some of the best grilled chicken I've had. I'll definitely be getting their teriyaki chicken next time. The Eggplant and Fish in Garlic Sauce was great too. Crispy fish and the eggplant wasn't super greasy. The sauce was sweet, sour and slightly spicy. Very tasty and definitely a rice clearing dish! The service was very friendly and attentive. Yami Bowl is a great addition to the neighborhood and I can't wait to come back! read more

To begin with the food at Yami Bowl is really nothing to write home about unless you are writing to your mom. What I mean is that if you want to find a place where you can get a good even hearty Asian meal, Yami Bowl is the place. You get served by a wonderful lady (sorry I did not get her name) who will instantly welcome you into her "home". Meanwhile, her husband is in the back, probably helping with the cooking and also serving. I arrived at about 11:30 am with my friend and located the restaurant in this small strip mall just off Berryessa. What surprised me was a wooden panel instead of glass for a front door. She was busily packing to-go boxes into a number of plastic bags and she instantly invited me in and apologized for the damaged door and explain that some thieves in the night broke into 4 restaurants in the mall. I was surprised to find the inside in ready for customers condition after she mentioned the mess the thieves had made. Anyway she took the time to explain the menu since it was our first time there and made some recommendations. Based on that, my friend and I ordered the Pad See Ew with prawns, the sauted string beans and Eggplant and Chicken in Basil Sauce. Food arrived about 8 minutes later and we were surprised at the portion sizes. All the dishes were very generous, well cooked and tasted great. By the time we left, three other tables were occupied by an elderly couple, a teenage couple and a middle aged man. They look like regulars and I guess they know a good thing when they see it. Bottom line, this is a place to get a good meal for a reasonable price, just like the ones you get at home. I do plan to visit Yami should the opportunity present itself. read more
Literally one of the beeest finds! We were looking for a dinner spot in the area and landed on Yami Bowl. We placed our order online from their website, and it was ready by the time that we got there. The store gave mom-and-pop, homey vibes. When picking up our order, the owner gave us a rundown of everything we ordered. You could tell that they cared about the food they served; everything was packaged with intention. They poked a hole in our popcorn chicken to keep it crispy, and placed a piece of cardboard at the bottom of the bag to keep our food standing up in the car ride... overall, great attention to detail! If you have to try a few items here, we read around and found that some of their most popular items were eggplant with fish and popcorn chicken. These CERTAINLY didn't disappoint - the eggplant was flavorful and garlicky, and the fish was soft and loaded with flavor. The popcorn chicken was crisp and moist on the inside, though it wasn't too spicy. We made a spicy mayo sauce at home to dip it in, and it tasted amazing! Everything was priced fairly IMO - a little sad that we found this later than we hoped, but we're already looking forward to our next visit! =) read more
TLDR: Great place for a nice to go Thai meal. Tried Yami bowl and was not disappointed. Placed the order on phone and it was ready for pick up quickly. Ordered the maximum spicy level for my drunken l Noodles and since I can handle the spice I absolutely loved it! read more
This is our third time getting take out and I keep forgetting to take photos of the food! We are always so excited to start eating. The hostess is always very pleasant and shows us the food while preparing it for us in a box so it's easy to carry out. We like the eggplant and fish fillet, pad kee mao, all the curries! Highly recommend this restaurant for takeout or dine in! read more
Food was ready when we got there for a phone order. We got the Pad See Ew, Popcorn Chicken and Stir Fry Green bean. Popcorn chicken was pretty soft, not crunchy. Pad Thai had good flavor but not alot of noodles. The green beans were yummy. The amount was enough for two adults and a baby. Inside was very casual. It was our first time and for sure will be back. Service was good. Private lot in front. read more
