I was just passing through and needed breakfast; Blanding really doesn't have anything other than this tiny bakery that I've never tried on the main strip, so we stopped here. It's not terrible, although any city person will probably find it pretty bad. Nothing to write home about either. I had the all-you-can-eat pancakes, and they weren't bad considering they might have come from a pre-made batch. My counterparts got some assortment of omelets, french toast, sausage, bacon, and eggs. Their general consensus was that it was generally okay, good for Blanding, and subpar compared to anything in a major city. TLDR: If you gotta eat, you gotta eat. Might as well do it here. read more

When we drove past Yak's on the way to our hotel it was closed (after hours) and with the whole covid shut down thing in effect I thought it was possible it wasn't open at all. But we drove over in the morning and sure enough they were open for business. And they were great! Seems like it's a family business (pretty sure that was Mom in the kitchen) and it was as a cafe should be...super friendly, great service, great food, good prices. They even sent us on our way with coffee refills for our travel mugs. We don't go this way often but if we're driving through Blanding, UT again, we'll definitely stop in and enjoy another meal. read more

I have stopped by Yak's a few times. The food is ok. It all still needs some seasoning and a bit of salt. The waitresses are a bit snippy and don't check back. I usually go without a drink for most of my meal. read more

We were out in the middle of nowhere in UT and were starting to get very hungry. Fortunately, we stumbled upon Yak's. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food featured diner-style comfort food and was very good and filling. It was a terrific value for the money. It even filled up our 6'2 teenage son, which isn't easy to do. Small breakfast and lunch joint with friendly, attentive service and decent, modestly priced food. Came here on a Monday morning for breakfast with the family. Everyone in my party had a simple eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns breakfast. They said it was "passible" but ok for the price. I had a breakfast burrito which I thought was very good. By far, though, the service was the best part, hence the four star rating. Our waitress was extremely attentive. Never had my coffee get below half full. The breakfast here was great. For breakfast I had a really nice Denver omelet. The service was fast and friendly. Nice people. I'll eat here anytime! I asked why the restaurant was named Yak's. The restaurant is named after its previous owner, Yak. I was told he was a local truck driver who talked on the the CB all the time. As the waitress said, "He yaked a lot on the CB as he drove, so that name stuck on him." Yak died a few years ago and his wife is now the owner and cook. This little restaurant is nothing special in terms of decor, but the food is good solid country cooking and the staff is friendly. The chef sends the food out quickly and the food is exactly as stated and as ordered. No hidden nonsense, no expensive add ons...just a good meal to send you on your way. read more

Not very good. Hash browns under cooked and cold. Toast was cold and not buttered, but they did hand us cold butter packages when we went up to counter but that didn't melt. Ugg. Pancakes were great and hot. Bacon was very small pieces. But it seems this is only place in town, and had constant stream of locals. Had to ask for more coffee and that is a real turn off.
