Canyon Smokehouse is a casual eatery in Bluff, Utah. Visited when I stayed in Bluff, for the Monument Valley trip. Not knowing any of the restaurants there, I asked around for a good place. The hotel front desk employee suggested to check out Canyon Smokehouse. After listening to their suggestions, I also checked out Yelp, and after reading some reviews, I found it really helpful. Parking is limited, so be prepared! The dining area is pretty big with plenty of tables and chairs. You order your meal by the counter, pay and find an empty spot. Cashier will give you a buzzer, so you'll know when the food is ready. You pick up your food at the counter. Soft drinks are available with a free refill. I was pretty hungry after walking in Monument Valley all day, so I have decided to order a Two Meat entree with two sides. I chose smoked brisket and smoked pork with fries and coleslaw. Everything was delicious! Pork was a little fatty and I didn't like it, but everything else was very good. I also ordered dessert, which was a pre packaged Brownie. Size wise it was huge! Ate some of it. Definitely satisfying. I'll be returning when I get back to Bluff again. read more

Very good food, but a little pricey. We had the 2-meat plate with brisket (they charge you an extra $4 for brisket) and pulled pork. If you want ribs they charge an extra $2. You get 2 sides with the plate so we ordered fries and the corn salad. Fries were very good and the corn salad was so so. It's self serve so you order at the counter, grab a drink from the fountain (they do offer beer and wine as well) and they offer several sauces so you can mix and match. Note that they charge a 3% fee if you use a credit card. I didn't know this until after I paid and got the receipt. If there was a notice near the register I missed it. read more

If I could rate 3.5, I would. Canyon Smokehouse was pretty much the only game in town Thanksgiving weekend. The joint was packed to the gills. Like most BBQ joints, you order at the counter and pick up your food later. Ratings of the meats are below. All the meats were not warm enough. The ribs were cold. Ribs - 2 out of 5 Sausage - 3 out of 5 Brisket - 4 out of 5 Everything was served Texas Style. The available sauces were just OK. The green Chile Mac and cheese was a good side. The people were friendly. There is no theme or Ambiance. It's just there. If you go, get the brisket and avoid the ribs. read more

What a find!!! Stopped in on our way back to Moab from the Four Corners monument. Both had "The Mac" (Hatch chili Mac n Cheese, his had brisket on top and mine had pulled pork) and it was AMAZING!!! Back again in Bluff and wouldn't miss another dinner at Canyon Smokehouse. Brought some friends this time and again had a great meal. Highlights this year were the Cajun sausage, the brisket Birria tacos where the depth of flavor in the birria dip is amazing, the hatch green chile Mac and cheese and the banana pudding crème brûlée which is not to be missed. We ate here twice and got the same thing - except the Mac and cheese which is always a challenge. Does it taste like what Mom made? If no, then meh. That being said, it was still good. You order at the counter, go get your utensils and bbq sauces then pick your tray up at the counter. I was surprised to find vegetarian options at this restaurant, but they had a delicious cauliflower dish with yummy green chile Mac n cheese. We had an above average meal and we were happy this small town offers a variety of good options. The array of barbecue sauces was impressive as was the serving of jalapeño jelly with the cornbread. You order immediately as you walk in. Meat by the pound or meals with side dishes are available. The person taking the order was efficient. You have a vibrating buzzer so you know when to head to the counter for your order. The decor is very fun and much bigger than it appears from outside. We are staying at the Bluff Resort and thought we'd give this place a try. Best BBQ we've had since we moved to AZ from SC! We had the pulled pork and brisket. They were delicious and tender. There aren't a lot of choices in Bluff. We pulled in an hour before close and they were out of brisket and pulled pork. The barbecue chicken was ok, but the non barbecue dishes were bad. Queso was the fluorescent orange goop you get at a gas station, tacos were just sad, and the BLT would have been ok for $10, but it cost nearly double that. Wow! We were here their second day of being open. Knowing the first week or two can be shaky, we were prepared for surprises. But not the surprise of the food being SO good. So good! My companion had the carnitas nachos, we could have easily just split it. I had short ribs, OMG, the portion was enormous. Tender meat, cooked to perfection. Very so-so, but what do you expect in the middle of nowhere? I can't even recommend their side dishes. It is the best in town though.

This bbq joint has it going on! The beef brisket melted in your mouth, it was so tender. The pulled pork was the same, tasty and juicy. Dropped in the night before a San Juan River launch and am glad I did. Brisket sandwich was piled high with very flavorful chopped meat - tasty even without sauce.
