We met friends here at their recommendation. The interior dining area is fairly small but we were able to get a table for four without problems at 5:30 PM. My wife and I both ordered the brisket taco. Hers without the pineapple mango salsa and with Mac and cheese as a side. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries with mine. My wife absolutely loved it. I was expecting moister brisket rather than the burnt ends type meat. That being said, the flavors were very good. The tacos included a large portion of the burnt ends with a very tasty rather sweet bbq sauce, chunks of potatoes with a melty white cheese and a good flour tortilla. I was saddened by the amount of cilantro in the salsa; blame my DNA as it tastes like soap to me. I found the sweet potato fries tasty and an adequate amount as a small side. My wife's side of Mac and cheese was the better side and was easily enough for both of us to have shared as a side. It reheated well for an addition to a salad the next day in our hotel room. Our friends had a very good bacon cheeseburger and a grilled cheese, both with large portions of French fries. They also had leftovers to take home. The service was prompt and attentive without feeling like we were being hovered over, nor were we pressured to eat and leave. This made for a very pleasant conversation catching up with old friends. We visited with our dog and were disappointed from the start. Before we even sat down, we were greeted with a comment about to-go orders ahead of us, not exactly a warm welcome. Once we were seated on the patio, our server approached and asked if our dog was going to be a problem, before she had done anything at all. I want to be fair: our dog did jump up on the server at one point, which is on us, and we take full responsibility for that. However, the unwelcoming tone was already established well before that happened. When our food arrived, my pulled pork nachos were cold; the pork, cheese, and chili all felt like they came straight from the refrigerator. When I mentioned it to our server, she immediately grabbed the plate, said she'd take it off the bill, and returned two minutes later with our check. There was no offer to replace the dish or make it right in any other way. Saw this place and my grand kids wanted a burger. When we walked in the place was empty but as soon as we sat down, I am not exaggerating but 26 more people walked in behind us. The service was great for getting dumped on like that. The food was very good. They have a kids menu but you have to ask for it. I had the grilled cheese with the brisket which was good but I had a piece of brisket that was all fat which I had to take off. The rest was good. Went in to meet up with a friend and her daughter. I had ordered the fried Gouda (absolutely recommend). I didn't taste the dipping sauce since I have an egg allergy. Then I ordered the brisket grilled cheese loving every bite. The BBQ sauce is sweet and right up my alley. Our server was attentive to refilling drinks. The food was brought out hot. We stopped in here for lunch on our road trip after going to Mesa verde and not wanting fast food for another meal and seeing the reviews were goood... Food was decent, however, one of my kids grilled cheese was charred black, which they then refused to eat. I tried it; it was BAD. She ended up eating half of my Mac n cheese meal because it was so bad. They told us we couldn't eat inside because they had a party coming, but the entire time we were there--no party showed up. So we sat outside in 90° weather. As we sat and waited for our food, we noticed a wasp nest right off the patio. They didn't bother us, but a little alarming. They have 2 different sausages which are smokey and one is the right amount of spicy. And the pulled pork was to die for. Normally I'm meh about pulled pork, but this was lick the plate good. After eating SW/Mexican, we were ready for a change. This place offered a change of pace. I was surprised at what we found. The ribs were decent. The brisket was not bad at all. The pulled pork was also not bad. The worst of the bunch was the pork belly, but still, I could eat it. The bbq sauce was not bad either. The food took some time to prepare, so that makes you wonder, however, it was the best bbq I had on my trip. Cortez is lacking in good restaurants, so this is a place worth visiting if you're looking for a change of pace. Is it the best? Driving through town on the way to Utah and stopped for lunch. It is a small place tucked way back but as you walk up, your sense of smell tells you this is gonna be a great meal. My nose did not let me down. I had the Hot Diggity Dog, deep fried dog wrapped in fried monterrey jack cheese with green chili, which was delicious. The waitress was super friendly and helpful deciding what I should try first. Service overall was fantastic. The Wigglin' Pig will be on my must stop when traveling through Cortez list if the timing is right. In fact, the only reason I'd probably try another place is if the WP was closed. read more

Considering all the livestock we saw on our journey, we were ready to partake in some succulent meats of both the bovine and porcine varieties and the Wigglin' pig delivered! Happened upon this place based on another post as I am not familiar. Our server was so warm and friendly; like we've always known her! Food was delicious! Brisket was tender and perfect with sauce on the side. Best coleslaw and sweet baked beans balanced it all so well. The chicken was smoky and fork tender. My kiddo ate all her veggies here! The food was excellent. We shared the onion loaf (essentially onion rings) as an appetizer and it was stellar. It was just the right amount of greasy and crispy to make it satisfying! We each had one of their burgers. My spouse and I had the jalapeño popper burger and my mom-in-law had the classic cheeseburger. We also had the margaritas and spiked lemonade.
