Moo Goo Gai Pan lunch special.
Izzy G.

I have stopped here before, for lunch. It's a good resting point for the drive to Durango. I usually enjoy the meals here but this time my meal was very salty. I ordered the moo goo gai pan which is one of my usual Chinese food dishes. It was cooked very well, just too much salt in it. Portion size was pretty good for lunch special and it came with egg drop soup. The price is always very good.

Yum! Excellent service and free soda refills. I had a dinner combination which included: Hot and sour soup 5 stars Walnut shrimp 5 stars Fried rice 4 stars Egg roll 4 stars Cream cheese wonton 5 stars Hot mustard not in a tiny packet but in an actual serving jar 5 stars My dog, Kermit, got the paper wrapped chicken and she gave it a fast 5 stars

This place was ok. The service was good and the food was average but it was a good price and I have no gripe with the quality.

Place was dirty, flies flying around. Didn't care for the flavor of the food that I got.

The food here is awesome! We come from Hawaii and it is better than the Chinese restaurants on Maui!

They have a great variety of selections. I enjoy the curry chicken, albeit not Chinese.

One of the best places to stop by and grab lunch or dinner. The portions are large. The Moo Shu was very good! The sauce was yummy!

Platters come out served family style so you can share or take home leftovers. The spicy mustard and sweet-and-sour sauce are created from scratch by the owner. The spicy chili ingredients added to the Szechuan are also created from scratch. The owner brought out a small dish so I could add as much spice as I wanted. The owner was super friendly and a pleasure to visit with. She was exceptional with greeting her customers and telling them until we meet again upon leaving. Would definitely recommend this place. The food was great. The setting was super relaxed and the owner added a personal touch that made the experience perfect.

Shivering through freezing rain in Chicago Basin, the thought of Mu-Shu pork, homemade pork dumplings, and delectable soups kept me alive. Despite numerous train delays, we were able to squeeze our way in 30m before closing. We ordered a FEAST and every dish was better than I could have imagined--homemade American Chinese at its finest. Even better than the food was Ling's hospitality; she sat with us to chat about the food, Durango, and the cheeky history of the building (hidden tunnels, bowling alley, etc...). Will absolutely return to Durango, perhaps only to explore more of the menu at May Palace.

We went for lunch today with my mom and it was dead. Maybe 3-4 tables with one or two people per table. The hostess, if that's what you call her at the desk, became our server and was rude throughout the lunch. She didn't like that I wanted to be seated when I made my drink order. My mom asked me if she rolled her eyes at us lol We were asked on the way to the table what we wanted to drink. I was surprised so I just said I'd like to look at the menu first. She didn't appreciate that I guess. My husband showed up and about 10 seconds after he sat down she came to "take our order". We asked for some time so he could look at the menu and ordered drinks. The drinks took a bit considering the place was dead. My mom ordered an app and never got it. We got our food after about 20-25 minutes. She brought the app out about 10 minutes after our main food so we asked to have it boxed up since our lunch was nearly over. The food was eh. Not bad, but not that great either. It's definitely not the quality we had before. Our waitress never really talked to us, she never asked us anything. It was obvious she hates her job. We'll probably never go back. Tomos is great for Asian food and they're always nice. Also, it was NOT the young girl working. She seemed sweet and like she was doing her job for her tables.

A 10+ year family tradition!…read more Every time we come to Durango, Mongolian Grill is one of those places that HAS to be on our list. I've been coming here for more than 10 years, and now it's become a family tradition that we've continued with my wife and our five kids. I was honestly surprised to see so many negative reviews about the service because that has been the complete opposite of our experience. We've consistently received some of the best service we've experienced at a Chinese restaurant like this. This most recent visit, we were greeted by Yawn, who actually came out from the kitchen area to say hi to us and brought coloring pages and crayons for our five kids. That might seem like a small thing, but when you're walking into a restaurant with five kids, those little things make a HUGE difference. And this wasn't even the first time she went above and beyond. The last time we were here, she was working on a box of Rocky Mountain chocolate and fudge and actually shared some chocolate from her personal box with us and our kids. That kind of service has been consistent from everyone we've encountered here over the years, which is a big reason we keep coming back. And that's separate from the food! We've tried quite a bit of their menu over the years, including seafood, chicken, beef, starters, and soups. On this most recent visit, my wife and I got the lunch special with chicken and garlic sauce. It came with the entrée, fried rice, hot and sour soup, and a spring roll, making it a really solid lunch option. For the kids, we ordered two orange chicken dinner plates to share. After serving up the first plate, we realized the second was almost too much food. Each plate also came with white rice, which the kids shared. Our kids absolutely love the orange chicken here. They've tried some of the other dishes as well and have enjoyed those too. One thing I really appreciate is that they can customize the spice level, which makes it much easier when you're ordering for a family with different spice tolerances. Another cool option here is the all-you-can-eat Mongolian grill. They have a full bar of toppings, noodles, proteins, and other ingredients that you choose from before they grill everything right in front of you on a traditional Mongolian grill. We've actually never tried this option ourselves, but we always see people enjoying it, and it seems to be a pretty popular choice. One thing I will say about this restaurant is that every time we're here, it's busy. It doesn't seem to matter what season we visit or what time of year it is. We consistently see a steady crowd, which has always been another sign to us that this place has a loyal following in Durango. For us, though, Mongolian Grill has become much more than just a restaurant. It's part of our Durango trips and a place our family has been coming back to for years. 10+ years later, it's still a family favorite, and as long as they keep their doors open, we'll keep coming back.
