We recently ate here on a chilly Sunday night in Durango and it was so good! We went early and were seated immediately. The food hit the spot- some of us ordered egg drop soup, and some won ton soup. Both very good. Egg rolls big and excellent - the main reason I wanted to come here was to get Mu Shu Vegetable and it was excellent. I arrived in time to get the lunch special. So many items on the lunch menu but I wanted egg foo young. So I had the lunch special with pork egg foo young, egg drop soup and white rice. The soup was slightly warm and had an odd after taste. Couldn't quite figure it out. I think it tasted a little like freezer burnt peas and carrots. The egg foo young was missing bean sprouts. Just had carrots and peas and maybe some onions. Really missed the bean sprouts. I didn't really care for the large pieces of pork. I thought It was going to be thinly sliced pork strips. I should have asked more questions. Overall, staff was super friendly and service was quick. If I'm in town again I'd come back to try something else. read more

Ordered takeout. S&S chicken,orange chicken, crab rangoon, eggrolls, fried rice and BBQ pork. The orange chicken sauce was good. It didnt look like the traditional orange sauce but was delish! S&S chicken wasnt covered in veggies and had a good chicken/veggie ratio. The S&S sauce had an ever so slight heat to it, which I actually wanted more of after discovering it. Ordered ragoons and Orange chicken. Ragoons had minimal filing and wonton wrapper was stale. Orange chicken was a pre frozen and breaded with w weak flavored sauce. Even the fortune cookie was stale. The meal totally sucked. The only reason o have two starts is because the young man who brought me my to go order was very pleasant and made sure I had all the little extras for my meal. May Palace will now be my go to for Chinese food here in Durango. Really enjoyed my Cashew Chicken with white rice for lunch. The sauce they made it with was delicious on its own. This is my second time here and again enjoyed my meals. The chili they made was really good. When the waiter brought it to me he said he believed it was a really good batch, and he was not wrong. The Cashew Chicken was great on its own but for those who enjoy their food with a little kick, you can't go wrong with the chili. Great service! Homemade chili sauce is so tasty with my lamb fired rice. We came kinda late but the owner and her two kids were so patient with my family. The food is not expensive which surprise me at tour downtown area, and tChilihe food is not oily or salty like typical Chinese restaurant. We're locals and ordered takeout - General Tso's, chicken lo mein, and a large container of wonton soup. The two chicken dishes were just ok but the soup fell short. There was too much cornstarch in it making it was super thick and opaque. Had a very peppery taste. I liked all the meat and veggies in it but the veggies were cooked to an almost mush-like consistency. We've eaten here before pre pandemic and liked it but don't know what happened with our recent experience. We'll probably try once more in the future but not for a while. read more

The young man at the front of house was so welcoming and attentive, it made the transaction a breeze and a delightful interaction! The food was plentiful and hit the spot! This spot in Durango is a local gem. Our family loves lamb and this restaurant serves lamb in several dishes. The dishes are spot on and amazing. They do not have done in, but you call in and pick up. The food is hot and delicious and always a good amount. They have a amazing choices and something for everyone. For the good, their General Zho chicken was quite good and well portioned. That's the end of the good. The Mongolian beef should be renamed a ton of bamboo shoots and some mushy zucchini. There were only about 5 or 6, 2 inch square, thinly sliced pieces of beef. Really?!?!? If it were a pre-labeled food, the beef would fall into the "contains less than 2% of the following ingredients" section. The veggie fried rice had no flavor. What happened to the old ownership and employees? They have some cocky guy that takes the orders and somebody in the kitchen that has no idea how to achieve authentic smoky flavor we all crave from using a wok. In addition, there's little protein and vegetables in their dishes and you should save your money and cook at home. China Cafe is no better and both used to at least be acceptable. Mongolian Grill will beat both places hands down although they'll never hit that smoke point because of the grill they use and that's fine because you at least know what you're getting there. I love good asian cuisine but try any of the places locally except for China Cafe and the May Palace. As a Durango native, I wish I could boast of good Chinese food here in town but try any of them but these two. You could give either to me but I would not dine here again at half the cost. read more

I ordered crispy duck and Szechuan beef, wow, it tastes so not the Chinese food I'm expected, how this restaurant got a 4 stars rating? The waitress and waiter are really nice and welcome. The restaurant is decorated with half Chinese and Japanese. What are you trying to present, you are not selling sushi at all. It is for sure not an authentic Chinese food, if you are looking for Chinese food, this restaurant is highly not recommended. I am really so disappointed for the food quality, I meant this restaurant needs to be closed and re hired new chef. We stop by Durango on our way to Pagosa Spring Saturday. Sorry we were not there to try the Taste of Durango this Sunday. We had a 3:30 late lunch. May Palace was the first restraint we saw after finding a parting spot. A pretty good choice! My partner had a beef lunch special and a had a tofu dish. The hot and sour soup was just a touch too sweet for me. Otherwise it would be a 5 star rating. The beef was very tender. And the tofu with vegetables were full of veggies that I love. The noodles were over cooked and when u put in your mouth, they were soggy. We also ordered fried rice, gave us some rice that was not fried, had no taste at all. May Palace was definitely on our agenda during our time in Colorado, the place looks authentic and it's minutes from our Condo. However, the Palace completely underwhelmed, and I mean, completely. We had a table of 4 hungry adults and 2 children and our plan was ingenious, everyone order something different and we will all happily share. Couldn't be more WRONG. 2 lunch specials of sweet and sour chicken were ordered, it's most popular with the table. 1 lunch special of chicken salad 1 lunch special of almond chicken 1 lunch special of lemon chicken. I personally ordered the chicken salad and I was expecting a tangy, crunchy typical Asian salad and I received tasted like windex. I am not kidding, my salad tasted like Windex and I couldn't concentrate on anything else after that, the restaurant seems family owned and operated so the service was slower than normal but for the salad and chicken entrees to be so bland, I was disappointed. We wanted to LOVE May Palace, however, Jennie P. Said it best, the food wasn't good but the food wasn't bad. One more note: (most) of the restaurants in town have a consistent wait of a half hour or more, which indicates a popularity, right? May Palace had a 2 other tables occupied during lunch.
