It is our stop before we go to the wilderness and first place go when we come off the mountain. It's the burger I think about when someone says" want a burger" It's a burger joint, and they do it right.

It doesn't look like much (but it has Christmas lights in the winter that add a little festive feel). It's on the main road driving through Dolores, CO. It's definitely a greasy spoon - dive (but it's clean). You can smell the burgers cooking down the street (mmmm, makes my mouth water). The menu is simple and easy. The prices are reasonable. The food is consistent. If you're looking for a grilled cheese sandwich or charbroiled burger - stop in! (They have a couple more food options but that's what we always get). The "Depot" Burger actually has two charbroiled patties. The french fries - are well - french fries - like any other fast food joint. But guess what? They have tater tots and onion rings! And the ranch dressing is yummy. They also have soft serve ice cream and shakes. I like the strawberry shakes. I've heard they have yummy breakfast burritos but I haven't tried them - yet. If you've been hiking, fishing, cycling or you happen to be traveling through town to go skiing or off roading and your are hungry- stop at the Depot for a quick bite to eat!

The first time my family and I had their food was really good. The sweet potato fries were tasty. My family was craving it again, so I reordered what I got. The regular fries, burgers, and corn dogs were good. The sweet potato fries were very burnt. I was disappointed because the first time we tried it we loved it and thought it was going to be a regular place to eat.

Great burgers! I had the elk burger meal; yum! Service was excellent. Good country mountain feel.

We stayed nearby for a few weeks in our 5th wheel and drove by The Depot a half dozen times and each time we did I thought that's what's for dinner tonight. Well we finally did on our second to last night here and the four of us were all very happy with our dinner. The kids had chicken nuggets which were battered, crisp and had a great flavor. My wife had the Philly steak sandwich which was awesome. I had the New Mexico burger with large slices of peppers and pepper jack between and on top of two hamburger patties. Full and happy! We ordered chili con queso smothered onion peddles as well. Exactly what we were expecting, Oh My God Good! Finished wood inside and outside including the bench tables. Everyone that was working were super polite, and we're having a fun time working at The Depot. Great small town burger joint! Thanks for cooking!

Trying option number 2 for dinner.

After being disappointed by the brewery in town we came into The Depot for not so good burgers, I ordered a mushroom burger combo the meat patty was super dry and bland it came with cheese on it and bacon that was burnt beyond recognition I wasn't impressed by any means I don't see how this place got the reviews that it did because this is a town that relies on tourism to keep them afloat. The shoe string french fries was the only thing that kept me eating along with the funny couple that was sitting across from us complaining about there awful corn dogs. I can honestly say I won't make a second trip in to eat. Now I can see why Montezuma's up the road takes 90% of the restaurant business here in town.

    Food!

Onion rings the bomb. Burger was delicious. Friendly and happy to accommodate no salt.

My husband and I were searching for something to eat this evening and happened upon The Depot. I ordered a chili cheese dog with mustard and onions, along with onion petals. He ordered a regular hamburger with cheese fries. We both drank water. The place was busy, but our orders came out faster than I though they might. My hotdog was cold. It wasn't even hot enough to melt any of the grated cheese on top. The chili didn't sit right with me and made me feel sick. I couldn't eat my hotdog. The onion petals were good, but they forgot to include the ranch dressing in our order. My husband went back inside to ask for it. He said his burger was hot. The cheese fries were good. There were two girls inside handling the front. One was busy busy, the other standing by the phone doing nothing. I didn't complain about the hotdog to the staff because it just didn't seem worth it. I didn't want to order anything else because my stomach was already getting upset. This place isn't fancy. Plenty of seating and dog-friendly outside. They brought our dog a bowl of water, which we appreciated. Everything is served in paper or styrofoam, all plastic utensils, easy throw-away stuff. I doubt we'll go back.

    Lunch and happiness.

if you wear a mask, be prepared to feel threatened. Used to really like dropping in for a burger and their great shakes but no more.

We looked for a lunch spot via Yelp on our way home from Telluride…read more Yelp did it again. Loungin' Lizard will be our go to every time we pass through Cortez in the future. We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the bartenders and told to sit wherever we liked. We found a nice booth off to the side of the bar area. Our server Patrick stopped by the booth and pointed us to the food menu in the chalkboard. We also had another server but I didn't catch her name. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special for the day. A green chili Rueben & fries. Wow, this sandwich was so delicious! What a creative combination of flavors. Even the slaw in the Rueben included the green chilis. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the spicy BBQ pulled pork tacos. He said the tacos were amazing and the flavors were off the charts. They were topped with a slaw and pickles. The side of "tortilla chips" had a dusting of a very flavorful spice. Not sure what it was but very tasty. Looking over the menu, this restaurant has some very creative dishes. We can't wait to stop by again! My husband ordered

Steak Out also has a vibrant bar scene in the back of the restaurant, spilling outdoors to well planned outdoor dining and pub setup. The service is friendly and attentive. Watch for unusual limits on days open. Currently, seems like they're closed Sunday and Monday and Tuesday, and then open from 11am till closing Wednesday through Saturday, which offers opportunities to drop by not only for lunch or dinner, but in between as well. The restaurant has an upscale vibe. Not quite white cloth but a place to celebrate a special event. I ordered a Merlot and the 16oz ribeye. Everyone at the table ordered steaks: wagyu steak, New York strip, and the filet mignon. My steak was divine!!! Melt in your mouth amazing flavor. The tomato jam on top was pretty damn tasty too. Although after a while it became too much so I had to move it off to the side. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the baked potato was good. I tried the wagyu and while it was tender and good I much preferred my ribeye. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their steaks. Our only complaint was that we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our reservation was for 1830, we did not get our steaks until 2000. They did give us a complimentary soup or salad for the wait which was nice but 1.5 hours is a little much. But if I were to find myself in the area I would make a stop for this place... I'd just make sure there are no parties lol.
