Terrific new restaurant in Dolores, Colorado. Upscale and a bit pricy for the local market, this is a great fine dining option in an area without much competition in this genre. Steak Out also has a vibrant bar scene in the back of the restaurant, spilling outdoors to well planned outdoor dining and pub setup. The service is friendly and attentive. Steak Out shifts gears for lunch, offering all kinds of interesting fare for lunch. Not cheap but well worth it for what you get. Much of their menu items are both creative and genuinely delicious. Watch for unusual limits on days open. Currently, seems like they're closed Sunday and Monday and Tuesday, and then open from 11am till closing Wednesday through Saturday, which offers opportunities to drop by not only for lunch or dinner, but in between as well. Central fireplace, very comfortable seating, etc. Very pleasant vibe, welcoming locals and tourists alike. Super to have this option in Dolores, and serving the Cortez community as well. Staff was very friendly and communicated to my group of 7 that they had a private event in the next room and there would be a longer than expected wait time. The restaurant has an upscale vibe. Not quite white cloth but a place to celebrate a special event. I ordered a Merlot and the 16oz ribeye. Everyone at the table ordered steaks: wagyu steak, New York strip, and the filet mignon. My steak was divine!!! Melt in your mouth amazing flavor. The tomato jam on top was pretty damn tasty too. Although after a while it became too much so I had to move it off to the side. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the baked potato was good. I tried the wagyu and while it was tender and good I much preferred my ribeye. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their steaks. Our only complaint was that we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our reservation was for 1830, we did not get our steaks until 2000. They did give us a complimentary soup or salad for the wait which was nice but 1.5 hours is a little much. But if I were to find myself in the area I would make a stop for this place... I'd just make sure there are no parties lol. read more

Outstanding experience. Nuff said? Yall don't worry about whatever you digest online just trust that this place, out-of-the-way as it is, will blow your ba--ls off good. Way good. Find me a place that even knows what Teres Major is let alone serve it well. They cut their own steaks from local beef producers. Yall. Go. Go Getchasum and smack dem lips lika crazy man. Terrible tonight. Filet so overcooked. Asked for MR got MW. Broccolini, mash and husband's asparagus were also so overcooked, like baby food mush, everything drowned in sauce. Server was aware but only returned to clear plates after we were finished. read more

So the initial plan was to go further into town and get burgers, but the other burger spot was closed due to schedule changes. We had driven past the steakhouse on the way to get burgers and decided to stop in. I will note that my group was a bit underdressed, but that didn't seem to be a problem. We spent all day out in the wilderness and so a fancier steakhouse wasn't exactly the plan, but definitely worth it. I ordered the burger and it was a really good burger. I also tried one of the craft cocktails, which I believe was called a black bear. it was blackberry and whiskey, super good. We also ended the evening with the brownie, which was really good too. It's definitely on the higher end for a small mountain town, but it was worth checking out. From what I understand they recently remodeled the building and this is a new restaurant. read more

We are in from out of town. We have a cabin about 20 min from here that we visit annually and wanted to try a great restaurant after a day of travel to get here. The Steakout was Wonderful! We went to the Steakout last night for the 1st time and was looking forward to it. But left very disappointed. 1st the rolls were raw on the inside. Next we had the potatoes skins were so hard and over cooked my wife was afraid she would break a tooth if she ate them. For dinner she had the Salmon that she said was pretty good. I had the New York steak and I would say it was a very low grade of meat. I'm sorry but I would next recommend going to this place for dinner read more

Every steak was cooked perfectly to order and the meat was excellent quality. Started with the French Onion Soup - it was one of the best I've ever had. And the warm buns were excellent. Our table tried every dessert - Crème Brûlée, Cheesecake and Brownie Sundae... would order every one again. Service was very positive and attentive with glasses kept full. Wine list, while not huge, has a good variety of choices in each categories with most wine at an affordable price point. Very nice ambiance and layout. Wish I had a restaurant of this quality close to my own home... we were camping in the area and would definitely come back. My family and I went to dinner at the steakout. The server was very nice and the restaurant was clean and comfortable, except the manager placed our party next to the service counter after the hostess was going.to place us at a nicer table in front I order a medium ribeye steak. When received, it was well done. My brother ordered the LARGE SCALLOPS. Only.to get small bay scallops. The price is high for the quality we received.
