    My son's burrito.
    Matt S.

After a long day of hiking and driving, it was late, and we were tired and hungry. We drove past this restaurant, and my instinct was activated. It had a good crowd of people in it at almost 9 pm. My instinct was right. The food was great, the service was friendly and efficient, and the price for this California resident was astounding (in a positive way!). We were immediately given a large basket of house-made warm chips with a bowl of good salsa. When the waiter saw how quickly we were eating the chips (remember, driving and hiking all day), he brought another basket. My son ordered the Expresso Burrito with shredded beef. It was full of beef and other things and came with rice and beans and some guacamole. I had the Deluxe Taco salad with a side of Pico de Gallo and rice, plus a strawberry lemonade. My taco salad was flavorful and well-made, and had a lot of shredded chicken. My son's burrito was excellent, and had a lot of shredded beef in it, much more than one would get from Chipotle and of higher quality (he knows his Chipotle). The entire meal cost $29 and change. Not $29/person. Total. As someone who lives in the SF Bay Area, I am sadly accustomed to much higher prices. I was amazed, especially given the quality. I looked at what people were eating at other tables. It all looked good. I wish we could go back but, alas, I suspect I will never pass through this area again. I would definitely go back to this restaurant and try other things on the menu. Note: for those of you in the 20% who think Cilantro tastes like soap, I did not detect much (any?) Cilantro.

So glad I stopped here on my travels. Fresh chips. The table-side salsa had a bit of a kick to it. My server was ver attentive. Ordered the chicken, steak, shrimp fajitas. While all were tasty, if I ever stop here again, shrimp will be the winner for me.

Food was good, patio was wonderful but our server Alexa was fantastic! We would stop here again!

This is the best Mexican restaurant that I have eaten at in Colorado. This is better than the options in Metro Denver, Greeley, & Fort Collins by far. I ordered a combination plate with a shredded beef taco, shredded beef enchilada, & a pork tamale. All three of them were delicious. It was unique how the taco had a fried tortilla to make it a hard shell. The combo also came with rice and refried beans, which was also good. The free chips and salsa were both tasty and homemade. I enjoyed the guacamole that I ordered as well. I got seated very quickly and the food was prepared reasonably fast. The manager of this place was also friendly. The ambience is beautiful. It's like a lodge with Mexican decor. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone in the Four Corners region.

Great food at a great price. There were 8 of us and 4 of us ordered the Chile relleno, enchilada and taco. Don't skip this place. Yummo

I've been to Montezuma's on several occasions. Sometimes it's good other times it's not. They aren't too consistent but if they were I think it would be great! I wrote a negative review last year but realized that was one out of multiple visits - not a fair assessment or review so I deleted it and I'm replacing it with this one. The tacos and enchiladas are always delicious. If you happen to stop in Dolores and you're feeling hungry- I recommend you try it!

Food was delicious, and service was amazing!! The server was friendly and accomodating

High Yelp ratings but I wasn't that impressed. Owner was really nice friendly guy. Interior wood rock beautiful. Chips were stale salsa was good. Ordered a steak chicken shrimp fajitas and side chili rellano in the plans for plenty of leftovers. Rellano was a disappointing soft chili w egg wrap covered w melted cheese & green sauce. The fajitas had no flavor just grilled meat & shrimp and very little veggies and wat was there was over cooked soggy. Disappointing. Won't come back.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the bartenders and told to sit wherever we liked. We found a nice booth off to the side of the bar area. Our server Patrick stopped by the booth and pointed us to the food menu in the chalkboard. We also had another server but I didn't catch her name. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special for the day. A green chili Rueben & fries. Wow, this sandwich was so delicious! What a creative combination of flavors. Even the slaw in the Rueben included the green chilis. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the spicy BBQ pulled pork tacos. He said the tacos were amazing and the flavors were off the charts. They were topped with a slaw and pickles. The side of "tortilla chips" had a dusting of a very flavorful spice. Not sure what it was but very tasty. Looking over the menu, this restaurant has some very creative dishes. We can't wait to stop by again! My husband ordered

Quality food. Nice atmosphere…read more Horrible service. Having frequented this place many times, I'm always amazed at the painstaking lengths that the owner went to provide a pleasant dining experience, good food, high quality ingredients, and a pretty excellent value relationship-- Only to hire incompetent servers. Tonight I was placed alone next to a window, with the server barely spending more than 10 seconds waiting on me--in 50 minutes. Instead, he doted over all of the large groups in my vicinity, promised me a refill on the iced tea, watched me sit there waiting for 30 minutes for a refill, and never provided such. You got it. When I was handed the electronic payment machine...Yupp... he literally stares me down like a back alley shakedown artist. In addition to wearing a scuzzy unkept beard, not advisable for food servers, right?, he actually seems visibly upset when I gave him 16% tip, even asking me "was something wrong?" I know that we are in a small town, and Durango is feeling its growing pains, transitioning from a mountain/railroad rural tourist haven to a high profile mountain resort. But this was so obvious, that it ruined the experience. The burger was well executed and had a nice patina, offering a rewarding crunchy patty exterior. The marinade the patty was placed in was great as well. The bun was high quality and so too was the blue cheese and fried onion strings.

The restaurant has an upscale vibe. Not quite white cloth but a place to celebrate a special event. I ordered a Merlot and the 16oz ribeye. Everyone at the table ordered steaks: wagyu steak, New York strip, and the filet mignon. My steak was divine!!! Melt in your mouth amazing flavor. The tomato jam on top was pretty damn tasty too. Although after a while it became too much so I had to move it off to the side. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the baked potato was good. I tried the wagyu and while it was tender and good I much preferred my ribeye. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their steaks. Our only complaint was that we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our reservation was for 1830, we did not get our steaks until 2000. They did give us a complimentary soup or salad for the wait which was nice but 1.5 hours is a little much. But if I were to find myself in the area I would make a stop for this place... I'd just make sure there are no parties lol.
