The menu can be a little funky for some tastes but we've always managed to find something delicious. We started with marinated olives, cheese board, and shishito peppers. Yum! Most of our party got the steak (I was tempted as I've had it before and it is delicious) but I opted for the scallops as it was new--and worth trying! The desserts are worth the calories too. We also experienced excellent service. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a special occasion dinner.

Kennebec…read moreCafé has become a place we regularly visit when we're in the area, and once again, our family had a very enjoyable dinner. Tucked away just outside Durango in Hesperus, Kennebec has a beautiful, elegant atmosphere that feels upscale without being overly formal. It's a great setting for a nicer dinner or special occasion. The service has consistently been friendly and attentive, and the menu offers a great variety of options. The food is well prepared and beautifully presented, and there's clearly an emphasis on creating a more elevated dining experience. My one critique would be the quality-to-price value. While we've enjoyed most of what we've ordered, at this price point, I think some dishes could stand out a little more. On our most recent visit, we tried a filet mignon special, and while it was prepared well, the quality of the steak itself didn't quite meet the expectations we've come to have for Kennebec, particularly for the price. That said, this was a relatively small criticism of an otherwise great experience. Overall, Kennebec Café continues to offer a good combination of atmosphere, service, and food, and it remains a place we enjoy returning to when visiting the area. If you're looking for a more elegant dining experience around Durango or Hesperus, it's definitely worth a visit.

Interesting combo that worked well. We also ordered a bread basket. the bread was so delicious! All of it was. For dinner, I ordered the scallops with orzo and sauteed spinach. My S.O. ordered the Top Sirloin, with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. The other two guests ordered the Salmon with thai red curry sauce and the chicken pot pie. Everyone loved their food! Our server was nice, attentive, and had great recommendations. We will be returning to this restaurant!

The restaurant has an upscale vibe. Not quite white cloth but a place to celebrate a special event. I ordered a Merlot and the 16oz ribeye. Everyone at the table ordered steaks: wagyu steak, New York strip, and the filet mignon. My steak was divine!!! Melt in your mouth amazing flavor. The tomato jam on top was pretty damn tasty too. Although after a while it became too much so I had to move it off to the side. The veggies were cooked perfectly and the baked potato was good. I tried the wagyu and while it was tender and good I much preferred my ribeye. Everybody else seemed to enjoy their steaks. Our only complaint was that we waited an hour and a half for our food. Our reservation was for 1830, we did not get our steaks until 2000. They did give us a complimentary soup or salad for the wait which was nice but 1.5 hours is a little much.
