    Chicken fried steak meal
    Greg P.

Great service, very friendly and large portions. I should qualify my rating based on the "chicken fried" steak. I guess I have a certain expectation when I order this dish. My expectations are a thin tenderized steak with a coating that is deep fried. The steak I was served was about 3/4ths an inch thick and had been grilled? A good tasting steak but in no way could I describe it as "chicken fried". The mashed potatoes were definitely homemade and rustically mashed with large chunks of potatoes still remaining which I typically like. The taste was very lackluster like the potatoes had been cooked with no or little salt in the water. The green beans had been cooked with some ham making them very flavorful. The gravy I asked to have on the side was not seasoned enough and bland. The salad that came with the meal was huge, fresh and tasty. The restaurant was very clean and had the perfect ambiance for being in rural Colorado. The collection of antique coffee pots as decor was very charming. Other items people ordered looked much more on point. The burgers, fries and onion rings looked delicious.

This establishment is the go-to destination for friendly service, atmosphere, and delicious American cuisine. The Chili Cheeseburger was exceptional as well as the bread pudding.

We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the bartenders and told to sit wherever we liked. We found a nice booth off to the side of the bar area. Our server Patrick stopped by the booth and pointed us to the food menu in the chalkboard. We also had another server but I didn't catch her name. They were both very friendly and attentive. I ordered the special for the day. A green chili Rueben & fries. Wow, this sandwich was so delicious! What a creative combination of flavors. Even the slaw in the Rueben included the green chilis. The fries were hot and crispy. My husband ordered the spicy BBQ pulled pork tacos. He said the tacos were amazing and the flavors were off the charts. They were topped with a slaw and pickles. The side of "tortilla chips" had a dusting of a very flavorful spice. Not sure what it was but very tasty. Looking over the menu, this restaurant has some very creative dishes. We can't wait to stop by again! My husband ordered

The French dip had a nice Smokey twist to it. The Caesar salad is not traditional but made with kale and Brussels sprouts but it all goes together really well. The location was perfect for us because we were able to easily walk there from our hotel. We were lucky enough to get outdoor seating, which made the experience even better. It was great to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Durango weather, and people watch while having dinner. We decided to do a beer flight so we could sample a variety of their beers before committing to a full pint. It was a great way to try different styles, and we each ended up finding a favorite. Everything we tried was really good. My husband liked their Buffalo wings and whiskey burger, I enjoyed the seared tuna bowl, and our kids liked their pizza. It is definitely a busy and popular spot, especially during peak vacation times, so I would recommend putting your name in early and expecting there could be a wait. In our opinion it was worth it. Steamworks had a great casual vibe that worked well for both families and adults wanting to enjoy a brewery experience. The downtown location adds to the charm, and it definitely felt like one of those must visit spots while in Durango.

Both burgers were large and had amazing flavor. The green chili burger reminded me of one of my favorite burgers I've ever eaten, in New Mexico a few years ago. It really hit the spot, and the French fries that came with it were also really great. The counter service was quick, friendly, and no-frills. The food also came out decently quickly and the toppings and condiment bar was really nice. We sat outside and had a beautiful view of Main Street and the mountains while we ate. Food is challenging in a smaller town but Maggie's made it happen. This was a fun spot to run upon. The signatured walls + great menu offered great options for everyone. The tables ranged from large to small so we were all able to hang and eat. The location is central Ouray and plenty of street parking nearby. Touristy vibe but that isn't a bad thing. Food was solid. You get exactly what you expect. The prices were fair. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a grea time. If you are in Ouray, make it a point to stop-by - this is obviously a staple of their lovely little town and deserves to be supported!
