Mastery in the art of crust and filling. The strawberry rhubarb pie will change your life.

When the doors are open, they are fantastic. The hand pies & bagels are fantastic! Wish I could go in daily for breakfast;)

Wonderful bakery and coffee shop! So many yummy choices beyond pie. Eclairs, cupcakes, hand pies, cookies and more. They even have gluten free options. My favorite is the carrot muffin. If you stop in you MUST try the honey nitro coffee. Amazing. Also, they are kid (and robot) friendly. My daughter loves their bagel sandwiches and coconut macaroons. read more

The Pie Maker - Pie - Bakeries Near Me - Cortez, Colorado

We placed an online order when we were visiting the area this past September. Everything was fantastic and we enjoyed sharing with the host of the B&B we were staying at. I appreciated the covid precautions being taken. I could tell the owner and staff really cared about the community. Everyone I spoke with was very pleasant and happy to serve. Wish I lived closer so i could make it a weekly visit. read more

Excellent, excellent coffee and treat shop! Staff was super friendly and patient with me as I decided what to order. I ended up deciding on vanilla cold brew - nice and strong in the best way possible. Their bagels are a little bit denser than I am used to, but still delicious. And last, the lemon tart was amazing. Intense lemon flavors so you have to be down for that, but if you are it was incredible. Super comfortable place to lounge around for a few hours and wile away an afternoon. I'd be back often if I were a local. read more

The Pie Maker - a glass of beer on a table - Bakeries Near Me - Cortez, Colorado

What an unexpected find. I had a bagel as close to New York as I've ever had outside the city. I ordered a dozen to take back to Albuquerque with us. They prefer 2 or 3 days notice for a bagel order. The eclair was spectacular! The pecan pie is 5 star. Great friendly service. Lots of regulars. . read more

Cortez is lucky to have this place and I was lucky to find it! I needed to work a little while in Cortez and found this hidden gem! I ordered a spiced chai, served cold, loved it and a piece of peach pie. They had other baked goods as well, quiche and coffee too! There is one small table outside, it was warm this day, I sat outside for awhile and then moved to a table inside...there was a constant customer flow, love to see that and I can't wait to go back for another visit! read more

Great coffee. Horrible service and prices. Extremely flippant and dismissive. Expresso maker on the counter but they don't do steamed drinks. High pastry prices. Over 3 bucks for a take out cup and no lids. We come to town several times a year but this won't be one of our stops again. read more

This is my quickest review ever. I just left Cortez and want to go back. Just finished the BEST muffin of my life. Carrot Cake Muffin. Drop what you are doing and go now! Don't wait! I never tried anything gluten free or dairy free in a bakery but I might be hooked if they all taste like this. I wouldn't share this with anyone in the car. No way no how no deal! Thank you ladies!!! I hope your business stays successful. We will be back! read more

Walked over on a Saturday morning from the Sundance Rv Park we were staying at. Got couple slices of quiche, couple of scones and mini pie. They were outstanding and completely agree with 5 star reviews. read more

Best bagels in the Southwest! Locally sourced, organic ingredients, you can taste the difference! You must make the stop!

On mid-July 201&, my husband and I drove through Cortez on our way to Four Corners. I love baked goods so went on Yelp to find a good bakery. The Pie Maker had 4 and 5 star reviews, so I definitely had to try it. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and answered all my questions. There was a man (I believe the owner), also behind the counter, who was not friendly at all. I bought slices of bourbon pecan pies and tart lemon pie, and singles of apple pie. The bourbon pecan pies were absolutely delicious! Both the lemon and applies pies were ok, I've tasted better. When I saw the bagels, I asked to buy two as singles, not as sandwiches. The unfriendly man behind the counter rudely said that they do not usually sell the bagels individually as posted on their door. Oops...my bad! I did not mean to be stupid!! Anyway, he sold me the two I asked for, but I ended up throwing them out because they were not good at all. They were HARD and TASTELESS. I gave The Pie Maker 2 stars because of the friendly service I received from the woman. If not for her, I would've given it a 1 star because of the rude owner. Their baked goods are not as good as described. You can buy them somewhere better or at a place that has a nice and friendly owner. read more

One of my favorite places. The sweets here are so amazing. Eclair is one of the best I've ever had and the mini pies are so tasty.

My grandmother went to The Pie Maker yesterday for some treats for a not so happy gathering for our family and while she was checking out. She made a remake about how it was a little expensive, mid way through her transaction, the guy gives her card back to her and tells her he can sell it someone else. I understand employees are people too and have bad days just like everyone else but that is no way to act or talk to paying customers. Very disrespectful. I am very disappointed especially after seeing all the great reviews on here about them. I told her not to go back but she is a very kind hearted forgiving lady but my family and I will never be back. read more

Don't waste your time or money. We were looking forward to trying this little shop during our stay to visit Mesa Verde National Park but the scones were hard, dry and crumbly. The water for the tea was not hot enough. Such a disappointment! Wouldn't recommend to anyone visiting the area. read more

I am a connoisseur of baked goods. I was delighted to learn a bakery is right here in Cortez! Until I am shunned by the lady behind the counter showed such rude behavior toward me. I spent 20+$$ in there and I told here to keep the change from 30 bucks. An 8$ tip and FINALLY got a half smile with a softer spoken voice. The next trip back in, same grump same unkind behavior making one lose the desire for their baked goods. If those goods are prepared with the negative rude attitude I get purchasing them....then clearly that negative vibe is baked in and enters my aura with ingesting the goods. The products sold are pricey and that's fine because they are worthy. However being disrespected made to feel unwelcome makes the pie maker worse than I expected. Anybody but....the pie maker for baked goods without cold harsh service. read more

Stopped in for an everyseed bagel with green chile cream cheese, and an espresso. Excellent service from a sweet staff; all of their baked goods are made in house. read more

Small, friendly bakery with small but well made selection of baked goods. Bagel, egg sandwiches, and quiches. Good, local coffee from an urn, espresso, and 3 types of nitro cold brew. Everything was good & the service was friendly. Chess set & trivial pursuit. Small, intimate, casual, bright, fun. Good service. read more

We had plain nitro cold brew and honey infused and both we perfect. The quiche my girlfriend ordered was great and the Wake n Bacon bagel sandwich I had was delicious. Loved the food so much we even got a slice of cinnamon double pear pie to finish off breakfast. Would definitely make a pit stop in Cortez to eat here again read more

Ate breakfast here 3/20/18 and it was really good. Had a couple muffins- banana chocolate chip and carrot cake; 2 pieces of Dutch Apple pie; The Farmer bagel and The Fisherman bagel. The bagels were really tasty, crunchy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. The crumble on the pie was spot on and the miffins were quite tasty as well. You should definitely check this place out. read more

I adore the owners of this little ma and pa operation, Shani and Tim. They're splendid people and they make damn good food. I am enjoying my day off with a frothy honey-tinged nitro cold-brew coffee, a chocolate ganache stuffed cupcake with peppermint buttercream frosting, and my favorite sandwich... The Fisherman: homemade jalapeno cheddar bagel with homemade Hatch green chili cream cheese, thinly sliced Alaskan salmon, capers, local onions, local tomatoes and local spinach. Deeee-liscious! My favorite place to sit and catch up on emails whilst dining on 100% homemade treats with as many local ingredients as Shoshana can get her hands on. Stop here. Eat here. You'll be stoked! read more

Bagels, delicious. Hand pies, amazing. Coffee, excellent. I would highly suggest getting the spudnut, or 5 of them. You won't regret it. All in all, 5 stars would recommend to a friend or a stranger. read more

Traveling through Cortez, thrilled to find this spot. Great service, killer nitro cold brew. Food on point as well--the green chile cream cheese is worth the stop alone if you need a quick bite. read more

We stopped here on our way to Sedona (driving from Telluride). I would make a special trip just to come back! Everything was so good- our two year old loved the everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. I highly recommend. Also, they are super friendly, great start to our road trip! read more

Discovered this great nitro brewed coffee at the Telluride Farmer's Market. So smooth it doesn't need any cream. And the hand pies are heavenly! Very happy that they are in Cortez so that we can enjoy on the to and from Phoenix every year! read more

The BEST cold brewed coffee!! A touch of honey infused into the coffee gives it the perfect amount of sweetness! I'm so sad that I'm not from Cortez and I can't enjoy this awesome coffee everyday! They also have amazing pastries... Savory pies and yummy cookies. Totally love this place!! read more

Came in around noon and there were no pies to taste! Bummer - bourbon pecan sounded nice. Got some bagels (heavy - no east coast style here), nitro coffee, and some cookies. Everything would be purchased again and the employees were very nice - just don't expect light New York style bagels! read more

Absolutely Divine!!! They have sweet, they have savory, great coffee and all made fresh with care!!! Passing through town and sooo happy I stopped here!!! read more

The people working here made my day! I called to order some pastries for my best friend. I live in AZ and had to order over the phone for her to pick up... They were so patient and kind and even wrote a Happy Birthday message on the box. Can't wait to try some of their treats when I come to visit. 5 stars for customer service! read more

The closest thing to Grandma's kitchen to be found in Cortez. No matter what you choose you can't go wrong. The service is warm and courteous, the selections wide and varied. The hours are abbreviated so don't tarry to get there to select your goodies for the day. When we move on we'll be taking some of that granola with us. read more

Very pricey. Staff is not pleasant, like they are doing you a favor, very flippant. I was looking at the cup cakes and didn't notice the little sign with all the flavors, when I asked what the flavors were I was told "it says what they are on the sign". I should have walked out then. I live in Cortez and won't visit that bakery? again. Horrible. Funky taste in the cookies and the bagels are tasteless and hard. They may think their bagel sandwiches are delicious but they are definitely NOT and over priced. Most unfriendly staff I have come across. I've seen kids at lemonade stands offer better. read more

These pies are the best thing I've put in my mouth in years, and were adored by our Thanksgiving dinner guests. Yum.

Cute place across the street from the grocery store. Sadly they were out of eggs and we only got bagels with spreads on them for breakfast. We were not greeted when we came in by the gentleman, but the woman who took our order was very up-beat! read more

Found this gem on our last morning in Cortez. Wonderful baked goods. The bagels and scones were yummy. Very good coffee, nice staff and atmosphere. Highly recommend! read more

I had been a customer at the Cortez Farmer's Market and was elated when they opened up a store front for their bakery. This place is one of the things I miss about living in Cortez, CO. The Pie Maker and her husband are super people and have wonderful staff on hand to provide terrific customer service. You can't go wrong with anything here - gluten free muffins are moist and delicious, the scones are on point, the fruit pies are clearly made with love, and don't get me started on the marvelous hand pies! Then there are the cupcakes and cookies - (I'm getting hungry) and bagel sandwiches...seriously, like I said, you can't go wrong here. Not only are the edible options fantastic, but the fact that they locally source as much of their ingredients as possible and also focus on organic ingredients when possible - made this place a highlight to living in the area. Do yourself a favor and make a stop here - you won't be disappointed! read more

Wonderful! We stopped in mostly for a cup of coffee on the way to Mesa Verde, but had to try the pie. I had the spinach and feta hand pie, and we got a piece of pecan chocolate bourbon to go. We also sampled the nitro cold brew and wow. The one with honey is amazing. Nice atmosphere, the owner is a sweet guy too :) read more
