Bun Dau Mam Tom

This is one of the best hidden gems in Bellaire. Their bun dau mom tom is to die for! The pungent dipping sauce ties everything together nicely and I love being able to customize my own spring rolls. My favorite protein is probably the fried fish cakes. I also tried the bun rieu and it's probably the best I've ever had in a restaurant. It might even be better than the homemade versions I've eaten... the soup is so addicting and the inclusion of snails is a nice touch!

I'm a fan of this very, very unassuming place nestled in the heart of a small strip mall. If you feel like getting your hands dirty (cause you know, make your own wraps), this is the spot to go. We got the combo platter for two which is ginormous and more than enough to share. Don't forget to add on the rice paper wraps to complete the combo! Combo comes with a few different varieties of meats, tofu, veggies, and noodles to stuff nicely into the wrap. Def worth getting. Banh Canh flavor was on point and full of similar proteins as the combo platter, just in the soup. Still delicious and worth getting! Service was pretty quick overall. Would come back

Amazing food

Great food and friendly service, I would return for sure. Cheap and delicious food, plenty of parking

This is my go-to for some authentic Bun Dau Mam Tom - which is a Vietnamese platter of vermicelli noodles, pork belly, fish cakes, tofu, cucumber, and veggies. The fermented fish dipping sauce was also amazing - concentrated and flavorful. Service can be improved a little bit but overall a great experience!

I had this place recommended to me from a friend and I decided to come here during the week for lunch. When I walked in I was greeted and gestured towards a table. The hostess/waitress was very kind and friendly. Although she spoke limited English and I spoke limited Vietnamese (but learning), we were able to understand each other. I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant. It seemed a little old school but it just made me enjoy the vibe even more. There was Vietnamese music playing on a TV/speaker, which again just enhanced the experience for me. I loved the authenticity of this restaurant. I ordered the Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm: 1. Bún Đậu Chà Thịt ( vermicelli, tofu, grilled pork pie, pork), (1 phần ) S, which was the portion for 1. For a split second, I thought maybe I should order the 2 phần or portion for two. Let me tell you, I would have not been able to finish a larger portion. I also ordered 1 order of Chả Giò Tôm Cua Xuân Hương (prawn - crab egg rolls). I had even toyed with the idea of ordering the Bò Kho + Bánh Mì. I wish I could have but I'm glad I did not. I did not anticipate getting this full off of these two dishes. For the Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm, I also ordered the Bánh Tráng (Rice Paper), which I used to wrap and roll the various ingredients up and dip into the sauce. Speaking of the sauce, I was warned that the shrimp paste on this particular dish would be stronger than usual. I did think the shrimp paste was more potent however I thoroughly enjoyed it and did not have a problem with the odor at all. Then again, I love durian too, so no surprises there. They will give you a pair of kitchen scissors to cut up the various ingredients like tofu, cakes, and pork. Just wet the rice paper in the water provided to get it damp and soft and then get to rolling. It's way harder than it looks and gives me a new appreciation for the art of making gỏi cuốn. I ate everything on the platter. The Chả Giò Tôm Cua Xuân Hương were excellent, wrapped in lettuce and dipped into a sauce I was unfamiliar with but that was very tasty. I finished all of them as well. After this, I had no more room but I do plan on coming back to try a few more dishes like Bún riêu ốc and Bò kho + bánh mì. This is a great authentic Vietnamese restaurant and if you can get past the aesthetic that some people don't like but which didn't bother me at all, you will discover some outstanding food inside. Don't miss out!

Not only do they nail the flavor but they also use fresh ingredients. Highly recommended even for picky Vietnamese eaters. Ambiance is alright, they play traditional Vietnamese music which is a little loud, maybe turn it down a little bit and play some other music that's easier on our ears . Service was really quick, got our food within 5' after ordering.

The food is great. However, I am worried about the cleanliness of this restaurant since the floor is very dirty; I am shock when seeing the waiters wipes everything on the tables to the floor and the used tissues are everywhere. The owner of the restaurant talks to her friends on speaker phone which is very annoying. It is also so awkward because we have to hear others' stories for many times and very loudly.

It is quite a Small mom and pop restaurant. The service is good if you speak Vietnamese. I ordered trà dàu means peach ice tea ( quite good) it's sweet and tart and full robust peach flavors . Quite nice for your palate . I also ordered another drink nuoc mát ( cool drink ) literally translation . It's a drink like tea but not tea . It cooked in variety of herbs and sugarcane . Extraordinary delightful little drink what soothe your soul . For dinner I ordered bún riêu óc ( snail tomato soup) it was delicious with the sweet ( not sugar sweet) broth cooked in tomatoes and shrimp/crabs paste with escargot. It is very authentic and delicately delightful. I also ordered bún dâu mâm tôm . It's consisted of vermicelli noodles tofu pork belly and shrimp paste fried with cilantro mint basil . Super tasty and true to form of the Vietnamese food . Of course I could not finished either dish because I was full.

Came here on Tuesday lunch around 11:30 am. It was PACKED! I'd say there was at least 16 patrons. Guess there's so social distancing at all. Servers aren't wearing masks. We ordered bun rieu and canh bun. The soups came in less than 5 mins after ordering. Love the broth and the additional veggies to mix in. Haven't had this since mid March. It was so good! One star off as they didn't clean table thoroughly especially during this pandemic.

If you're into the hole-in-a-wall type of place, where the servers/owners don't speak English, to try some cultural dishes you can't find anywhere else except back in the motherland (in this case Vietnam), this is your restaurant. When I say hole-in-the-wall, I don't mean it looks like a homeless shelter. Xuan Huong is a very small space but relatively clean inside. Just bring a Vietnamese speaking friend with you so you won't have trouble ordering. I had a udon noodle soup with pigs feet and fish cake, and the clear broth was very cleansing. The dish they are known for however is the large tray called Bun, Dau, Cha, Thit. It has the same fishcake from my udon noodles, sliced pork hock, tofu, cucumbers, and vermicelli noodles. Just a warning though, the sauce to be eaten with this massive dish is not for the faint of heart. #219

I went with my brother, and the atmosphere alone made it feel like an experience, not just a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Ordering is done through an online system, which is cool in theory, though my service struggled a bit, thankfully my brother had no issues, so we made it work. We ordered the triple broth: spicy bone tallow, tomato, and chicken. The spicy broth definitely packs a punch (even for spice lovers-stay hydrated ). The tomato broth was rich, savory, and hands-down my favorite. The chicken broth was a little bland, but the overall flavors were still solid. While I wish there was a bigger meat and seafood selection (especially for seafood lovers like me), everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, Old Alley Hot Pot is a great spot for date night, a fun dinner with friends or family, or even a cozy solo outing. Highly recommend for the experience alone.

The food at Shabu En is so good! The service is very thoughtful also and they're very attentive. The decorations in the restaurant is also very nice and it's very clean too. There's plenty of parking so no need to worry about driving around to get a spot unless you're trying to be closer. When you walk in, there is a waiting area where you can sit while waiting to be seated. They also provide some water and snacks in the front while waiting. It also has a photo spot near the front. For the food, there is a big selection. They have lots of soup bases, and it's possible to switch soup bases if you feel tired of the one you started with. I tried a few and they were all good. The flavors start to mix after you put in your hotpot ingredients, so I would suggest drinking some of the soup beforehand. My favorite broth I tried was the duck broth. You can really taste the duck and it's the most flavorful to me, and someone in the group said you can really taste the five spice powder (I couldn't but I liked it a lot). The tonkatsu is pretty decent and tastes like what you expect. I tried the Shabu En special broth, and it tastes like dashi soup. Very standard and pretty good broth. In my opinion, the sukiyaki broth is good for short term broth and just dipping your meat temporarily. To me the sweetness overpowered the soy sauce flavor, but it's still very good. You get your meat by ordering with the server, but they come by very often and it comes out very quickly that you don't really notice a long period without any meat. At the center where you grab veggies and the sauce bar, there are sections where you can get drinks, such as tea and Vietnamese coffee, which is in addition to the drinks you can order off the menu. There is also a small dessert station but it's a must try! It has a snow shaved ice, and it has a toppings bar next to it with toppings and different sauces you can put on it. Overall, it's a really good AYCE restaurant that's definitely worth trying out.

Price - as of May 2026, All you can eat adult prices are $24 for lunch, and $34 for dinner. 3. Ambiance - contemporary, white marble, shiny chandeliers, and plenty of booth seatings. This place looks classy. You'll be amazed as to how big the interior is. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - pretty straight forward hotpot place. I like their SHIITAKE MUSHROOM Broth. I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

Our favorites include the spinach, bok choy, shrimp, clams, sweet potato, corn, and pumpkin. Service was fast, and what seemed like a seemingly small building was actually bustling. We ordered the Best of Both Worlds option and requested the Spicy Bone Marrow along with the Tomato Broth; they complement each other quite well, with the Spicy Bone Marrow being our personal favorite. It is definitely spicy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. The Tomato Broth was delicious as well, but added a nice sweetness to our meal. We chose the Classic All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal, and ordered a plate of the Natural Prime-Aged Lamb, the Hand Sliced Beef Short Plate, the Marinated Garlic Beef, and the Pork Belly; I can't say I'm a huge fan of how they divided the meat selections, however, since I could get premium meat elsewhere without being limited. But overall, the meat was of decent quality, and the buffet offered various options. Compared to other hot pot places, they even had a section where you could serve yourself egg rolls, white rice/fried rice, and stir-fried noodles, though I can't speak to the quality... very much buffet-quality if you catch my drift, but still lovely nonetheless. Similarly, you can fetch your own iced drinks and dessert too. I do wish Happy Lamb's sauce station had special pre-made flavors or instructions for making them, much like Shabu Zone or Haidilao; sometimes I don't trust myself to freestyle my own sauce. There are some cross-contamination concerns as well, since there'd be about 4 tongs at foot/pants level, but at least 9 food options (e.g., noodles, dumplings, veggies) to choose from. Not sure if other people share the same sentiment, but I guess they all get boiled in the end anyway. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in Downtown Houston! But I wouldn't call Happy Lamb my go-to spot.

Sauce Bar: This is where shabu zone differentiates itself. The sauce bar is not your typical make yourself hot pot sauce, but they also have premade sauces that are delicious. The garlic sauce, black garlic, spicy ponzu, wasabi and corn are amazing. I just can't express enough how amazing it is to have the sauce bar and banchan bar. Banchan Bar: My favorite part of shabu zone and something that keeps me coming back. The onion jalapeno banchan is amazing, sweet and delicious perfect balance to the meat. The kimchi selection is great! I love making wraps with the white radish rounds too. Dessert: Good ice cream selection like their green tea and red bean flavors. Also, the coffee flavor is very good. The Vietnamese fruit cocktail che is also a nice touch that my parents love getting. Vegetable/Noodle options: Good options, I love the pumpkin and broccolli, watercress, spinach, enoki mushroom too! Lots of seafood options and different noodles. The hand pulled korean flat noodles are amazing. Broth: Broth is good, with sukiyaki being a favorite of mine along with Miso and Tonkotsu (vegetarian is nice as well). While the broths here are not as flavorful as rival shabu places like (Shabu En), it is good enough and does not hinder the experience. Overall, I will stand by my love for shabu zone. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. It is eclectic, decorated in an Asian pop culture theme with [sometimes promiscuous lol] music videos playing on a big projector screen. And, it is honestly loud (booths are in rather close proximity to one another and there's constant clatter & commotion from the table action). We had a few issues - the grill didn't stay hot (either malfunctioning or low on fuel), there weren't any hot buffet options (like other locations offer), and a few menu items were unavailable (ran out) - but we enjoyed our meal, nonetheless. Even with a few missing offerings, there is plenty of variety - meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, noodles & rice. The sauce bar has many condiments & dips; you can play mad scientist with your seasonings/marinade. And, there was a cold buffet that offered kimchi and a few fruits. They also had a long list of beverages that included boozy cocktails and exotic smoothies or teas. Some tips for first-timers: -The AYCE pricing is applied to the whole table, so you have to make a group decision if you want to do bbq or hotpot or both ($5 add on). -Holidays and weekends are priced for Dinner all day. -They don't take reservations, so there may be a wait (especially if you have a large group). -It is booth seating throughout, with a max of 6 people per booth. -You have a 2 hour time limit (which seems like a lot, but you do have to wait for meat to cook on the grill).
