Mi quang original and stone pho original. Vietnamese coffee.
Tina T.

The pho broth is a little on the bland side but they offer fish sauce condiments on the table so you add it to the pho for more flavor. I enjoyed the mi quang. The restroom did not have a changing table, which most restaurants in Chinatown do not have changing tables. I hope this will change in the future.

This place is a hidden gem with plenty of seating and a clean environment, complemented by friendly staff. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese dishes from Da Nang, this restaurant has it all. This was our second visit. During our first trip, we ordered the Bun Bo Hue served in a hot stone bowl. On our second visit, we decided to try some new dishes. We started with Banh Beo as an appetizer, which was delicious, and the fish sauce was spot on. For the main course, we ordered a chicken specialty that came with rice, chicken salad, a side of soup, and dark meat chicken. Everything was flavorful and unique. My husband tried the Bun Rieu served in a hot stone bowl. Although he's not usually a fan of Bun Rieu, he ended up finishing the whole bowl, and the soup was served piping hot. We will definitely return to try more dishes!

Ocean Da Nang Quan may not look like much from the outside, but once you step through the doors to this restaurant you will be captivated by the colorful paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling and the smell of traditional Vietnamese food being prepared in the kitchen. Tucked away in a shopping center in Bellaire, Ocean Da Nang Quan serves traditional Vietnamese food including banh nam and noodle soups served with fresh vegetables. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived, and, unfortunately, the restaurant appeared understaffed. Our server seemed over-worked and very stressed out. Despite our server not being in a good mood, the service was fast. We were seated right away, drinks came out quickly, and our food was not far behind. My partner (who was born in Vietnam) had nothing but good things to say about our experience. He thoroughly enjoyed every dish that we ordered, and he claimed that this was the most authentic Viet culinary experience he has had in Houston outside of his mother's kitchen! As someone who is much less familiar with traditional Vietnamese cuisine, I enjoyed certain dishes more than others. The appetizer - banh nam - was not my favorite. It was very fragrant as it was prepared in a banana leaf but otherwise had little real flavor of its own. Also, the consistency is very mushy, almost like a Vietnamese tamale. My entree, however, was delicious! I ordered the Mi Quàng Ga - a noodle soup with turmeric chicken. This dish was filling, flavorful, and topped with crunchy peanuts which complimented the flavors of the chicken and noodles well. Avoid wearing white if you plan to order this dish as the turmeric will stain your clothing! My partner ordered the Ocean beef noodle soup and sang its praises throughout the whole meal. Our drinks were also very tasty. I ordered the Coconut Kumquat Dua Tac. At first, I felt the coconut really overpowered the taste of the drink; however, as I continued to drink it, the flavors started to blend well. Overall, this was a great dining experience! I will definitely go back to Ocean Da Nang Quan. Side note: ALLERGY WARNING! Many traditional Vietnamese dishes are prepared with peanuts. The restaurant even has warning signs posted.

We came in during lunch on Saturday with 15 people and were able to get a seat within less than 30 minutes. The staff was great. Service was really good. Ambiance was cute with lateens overhead. The owner put effort into the decor. Food was a 3/5 star. I wanted to love it because it has all of my fave Viet regional food. But the broth in the bun Bo was meh. Pho broth was ok. Probably the best dish. Got mi Quãng (shrimp and chicken variety) and it was not good. The noodle was very mushy and broke apart. The ong choy chicken salad dressing was way too sweet. For the price, I would give it 4 stars for $9 menu.

The foods were good as well as services. We liked all the drinks and dishes. Will definitely be back when we are in town.

We stopped by Da Năng Quán for their $9.99 per dish dine-in promo and ended up ordering pretty much everything on the menu. What really impressed us were the frog Quảng noodle soup, fried pork intestine, and chicken salad. The flavors were solid, and the price was very affordable. Service wasn't great, but given the promo and casual vibe, it was somewhat expected. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for authentic "Trung" food at a reasonable price.

Great customer service. They're so friendly and will answer all your questions enthusiastically. Com Ga Len Mam 10/10, go early because once they sell out, it's done for the day. First time having this dish and they were informing us on how to eat it and what sauces go best with it. Egg Coffee, pricey but in a huge cup. Rich enough that when you mix the egg in thoroughly, it's still strong in coffee flavor. Can't wait to come back!

No greeting upon arrival, not even a "hello" We were a party of two adults and one child but only received two cups of water. Ordered two beef noodles--only one was served. Very disappointing experience.

It's a hidden gem of Vietnamese food in Houston. They have a diverse selection of food with affordable prices. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is decorated well.

I love their sauce and condiments here! Those are great with a good amount of food. The only thing that was they had an open kitchen, so sometimes it could be loud.

Bún bò Huế
Andy D.

Upon walking into this really colorful restaurant m, the only customer that was in there before us ordered the bun Bo hue served in the stone pot. I had to ask if he was enjoying it and he had smiles. That's really the specialty of this restaurant is the pho and bún bò Huế served in the stone pot. We ordered both and a sugar cane drink. So how is that different that it's served in something piping hot vs a bowl. It definitely was boiling the soup and that's all that was in the stone pot was soup. You need to add the noodles, proteins and veggies and garnishes in. I guess it allows you to control like the rare beef steak to be a bit more rare and eat it at your own pace and the noodles so that it's not over cooked. The portion doesn't seem much but it's was a decent amount of food for what it was. I would say it was definitely good. The sugar cane drink was good too. Why 4 stars? I would've liked more variety in the menu that represents Đà Nẵng than these 2 dishes served this way. Maybe it's just me but I would come back just to try other things even though they aren't too different than what other restaurants serve.

I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for authentic, Instagram worthy, and delicious Vietnamese food. The food was very unique as things came separated like in this picture. Great for sharing with people. The service was also very fast and friendly. Lastly the restaurant decor was very nice!

Quyen T.

First coming into this restaurant it was dirty! I ordered Mi Quang and combo plate for appetizer (bánh lọc là, nam, béo...) food and flavor is not goood, old smelly scent. Banh béo was uncooked! In Vietnamese cuisine, there's a lot of fish sauce.... But you shouldn't be smelling the fishy odors when the fish sauce is not under your nose! The sauces on the table spilled over, unclean and bubbling up! I go so grossed out that I hesitated to use the sauces. But I had to bc the food was lacking of flavor. There was a bug in my mi Quang this is poor management... how do you run a business like this...

Original bun bo hue - very tasty!!! Boiling hot!

Very hearty and not too spicy. The broth is rich with a refreshing relish tang. My BF and I shared a bowl because there was no way I would've finished it on my own with everything else we ordered. Chicken Dumplings in Beef Soup - Seems to use the same broth as the Beef Noodle Soup. Not my personal favorite because the dumpling wrapper is a bit too thick, but it's a small miss considering how fond I already am of this place. Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings - How is this place making money? These things are massive and deliciously oily. There's a clean Maillard effect on the bottom that adds so much flavor. They also have an interesting fold--I've never seen dumplings shaped quite like this before. The pork flavor comes through strongly with the classic scallion combo. Steamed Bao Bun - Yaass, reliving my Chinese drama dreams. These weren't as sweet as the commercial ones, which I personally prefer. Still, I reckon this is how they tasted in those shows, so I'm stoked for the experience. Now, will I say this is the absolute best dumpling place in Houston? No--but there is something undeniably attractive about this place, and it is fundamentally delicious. It embodies one of the best versions of a classic mom-and-pop restaurant, serving homemade food that isn't perfect but reflects craftsmanship and care beyond the appeal of modern restaurants. My dumplings weren't wrapped with perfect precision, nor were they the pinnacle of healthy eating. They were just blatantly delicious--like when your mom cooks your favorite meal on a weekend night. That's why I would come back. This place represents the most authentic form of home and freedom in food. The downside of all the carbs I ate is that I had to volunteer at my local theatre afterward, and I was crashing haaaaaard while sending this place so much love.

They also have baos, frozen, and prepped, ready to go, great for lunch through the weekdays. I got an additional hot and sour soup that was ready at the counter- it was neither really all that spicy or sour but it was comfort food. Better fresh but pretty good to go.

The sesame sauce brings everything together and it's amazingly refreshing and hearty at the same time. The pan fried buns were also quite yummy with a golden crispy bottom and fluffy exterior. My diagnosis: come here for the best liangpi and well made dumplings and buns

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

The portion of noodles and beef was generous, but I thought the broth lacked depth and had far too much chili oil. Instead of providing a pleasant spice, the excess oil left a greasy coating in my throat that actually made me cough. The other dishes were less impressive. The Pork Bao tasted like they had been frozen and reheated, with slightly soggy, overcooked buns and a filling that lacked flavor. The Egg Rolls were also extremely small and had that same frozen, store-bought quality.
