Best place to get Bánh Canh Tôm Cua in all of Houston (and Texas)!!! They never disappoint and they have the best broth. I also got a grilled chicken broken rice dish and it was delicious as well. But get the banh canh for sure if it's your first time :)
Stopped by here while visiting Houston and tried the banh canh crab noodle soup, sooo good. The portion is huge with tons of meat, and the seafood was fresh. The broth is thick, rich, and super flavorful, very comforting. Ambience is chill, and the service was good. Definitely a solid spot if you're craving Vietnamese comfort food. Would come back!
I've driven by here a lot over the years but have never been interested in giving it a try. Recently however, this restaurant popped up in the Rewards Dining Program portal, allowing me to get airline miles per dollar in addition to my regular credit card miles. I have to say, I didn't expect much, but I was very satisfied! I ordered the Bánh Canh Cua Đặc Biệt without really looking at the menu. I was pleased to see a side of softshell crap accompany the bowl of noodles, all for around $15, which I think is a pretty good deal. The noodles (I ordered the thick broth) was good. Slightly bland, but this allows you to season to taste. In a sea of phở, bánh mì, and cơm tấm restaurants, having a place offer bánh canh is a good addition to the Vietnamese food scene in Houston. It's a random hole in the wall place, but I don't think you'll be disappointed. There were only two servers working there when I came on a Friday afternoon, before the dinner hour. They took my order and brought out my food but didn't check in on me. Which is pretty par for the course in Vietnamese restaurants. But they would have came if I flagged them down. This is a place worth adding to your rotation. There's so much Vietnamese food along Bellaire. I would rank this spot in the upper half.
I am not over exaggerating when I say this... Hands down the BEST pork chop I ever had... as a whole dish, the pork chop is the highlight of it. Once I took my first bite I knew this was going to be good. I was punched in the face with so much flavor. Literally, me and my wife looked at each other and was like, yup, this shit is so delicious. The pork chop was marinated so well. Shout out to the chef! And shout out to the waiter who told me I definitely needed to try it. The banh canh cua we ordered was decent. It wasn't the best but it was damn sure good. When the bill came out, it was only $24 LOL me and my wife was like, uh, this is the cheapest bill on the trip lol Thank you! I highly recommend everyone that is in town, go try their com suon!

Luckily, the table was stacked with seasoning, so that I can season to taste. The place is large, so it was great for group if everyone is down to give this try for the one time. I'll probably won't be back anytime soon.
I was heavily craving banh canh cua, so we decided to give this place a try. We went on a Saturday evening and it was very chill and not crowded. Our server was very quick and attentive. I ordered the banh canh tom cua with the thick broth and it was SO delicious. It had so many different things in it such as crab meat, shrimp, crab cake, shrimp balls, pork blood, and pork hock. The portion was big and it was super affordable, all of it was only $10! I would highly recommend Banh Canh Tom Cua. I'm so glad we tried it out because we will definitely be back!
This place has a relaxed atmosphere with modern Vietnamese music playing in the background, making it perfect for conversations with friends and family. The staff was incredibly friendly and offered great food recommendations. We ordered the #16 baby octopus salad, which I highly recommend. It was packed with flavor, had a nice crunch, and came in a large portion. We also tried the #13 banh canh special thick soup, and my husband ordered the #9 banh canh tom cua, along with a side of #5 Vietnamese fried donuts. The soup was served piping hot and fresh. We will definitely return again!

As a person who craves Vietnamese food a lot. This place really hits the spot. I was looking for a viet restaurant to try in the Bellaire area because I don't come down here often. There were so many places to try, but after choosing this one for my birthday lunch, I did not regret it. My friend and I got different things so we can try both the clear broth options and the thick broth options. The thick broth is like egg drop consistency but the richness from the flavor was different, we ordered 3 bowls of soup and finished it all. It was such a light lunch I didn't feel so heavy after. The service is regular nothing to rave about, and the ambiance is quiet. But the tables were clean.

It wasn't busy at all, maybe 4 diners at most. Idk if they forgot about me but I waited a while to order so I walked to the counter & asked for a server. They did apologize so no worries. I went ahead & ordered their #9 Banh Canh Tom Cua (9.99 plus tax). The udon noodles were fine, the broth was thick like egg drop soup, unfortunately it was pretty bland & needed salt. The pork legs were inedible, it was mainly fat. I took one bite & couldn't do it because it was extremely hard (needs to be cooked longer). I only got like 3 small chunks of crab meat & the ones I tasted weren't very good either. Then to top it off, they gave me 1 measly shrimp. To be honest, I could've gotten at least two, but the one I got was pretty big so I guess it wasn't that bad. What helped out the broth were their fried shallots, I just enjoy the taste and smell of it. Overall, food was alright/decent. Service was good-ish. But I was kind of disappointed in the amount of protein they gave me, which is the bare minimum. Will I come back? Not anytime soon, but I'll give them another chance in the future.
This place is okay. My friends and I ordered the BÁNH CANH Đặc Biệt and the Mi Thap Cam. The Mi thap cam was good but honestly, there's better spots in the Bellaire area. As for the BÁNH CANH Đặc Biệt, it didn't really look anything like the picture we saw on the menu so we were a little confused when it first came out but everything still tasted good. The only thing I wish they did differently was the deep fried soft crab- there was a little too much batter. Aside from that, the service was fast and I appreciated how they gave us cut up chillies on top of the steamed bean sprouts, cilantro, and lime.

This might sound crazy, but my husband and I used to plan weekend trips to Houston around this freaking dish. Bánh Canh Tôm Cua is probably one of our favorite Vietnamese dishes, and this spot has topped every other place we've tried--Garden Grove, Westminster, Milpitas, Dallas, and yes, even Ho Chi Minh City. They nail literally everything we look for: Chewy noodles Thick, savory broth All the toppings (pork hock, fish cake, blood, etc.) SO much crab meat Even though they already pack an insane amount of crab meat into each bowl, we still order extra because my husband is an absolute crab fiend . It always hits. This place has become the gold standard for how we judge every other Bánh Canh Tôm Cua we've tried, and to this day it's still our #1. We'll definitely carve out time to come back every chance we get whenever we're in Houston again. read more
We stopped by because we wanted to try a Vietnamese soup that we hadn't had before. We ordered #B2 & #B5 w/thick orange soup per the waitress' recommendation. The noodles weren't as chewy as we thought and the broth seemed too thick that it had a lot of cornstarch. We found the flavor somewhat bland, although I didn't add chili since we don't eat spicy food. A little black pepper did help bring out the flavor, and I think some red vinegar would have been a nice addition as well. The two shrimp balls were quite small and they weren't bouncy. One disappointing thing was that I specifically asked for no cilantro because of an allergy, yet the dish came topped with quite a lot of cilantro, especially over the bean sprouts. That made me question how carefully the kitchen handles food-allergy requests. That said, we're glad we gave it a try. The restaurant is located in a large shopping center, next to a BBH place and another bánh chả restaurant. There's plenty of parking, and they accept credit cards. They also offer a 5% discount if you pay in cash. It's a fairly large restaurant, but there were only two servers when we visited. The young woman with glasses who served us wasn't rude, but she wasn't particularly friendly or customer-oriented either. Overall, an interesting soup to try, but it wasn't quite to our taste. read more

We visited houston and there's so many places to choose from and not sure what to eat. We happen to be in this plaza the night before and banh canh tom cua (crab/shrimp udon) sounds good. We didn't expect much but their banh canh tom cua (crab udon) is good. I got it thick broth style which I like better and more tasty. My bf got the signature banh canh and he like it. It came with a soft shelf crab it was good he said but the crab has too much batter. We got the salted lemon drink and sugar cane and those are good. read more

Stop by for a late lunch on a Monday. Pretty dead but expected for the time we went at. We both had the basic dish Banh Canh Tom Cua with thick soup. You can have it either way, thick or watery. It look different than what we expected but it was very flavorful. Needs more noodles in the dish since we like carbs. Overall we enjoy the meats but it could be better quality meats. Will be back to try other variations. We also had the sugarcane drink and it was ok. Tasted too sweet. Customer service was good. They checked on us after we got our dish and that's rare for places like these. read more

The Banh canh was delicious and I would order it again. I like mine thick and they delivered on the soups thickness. So good. The restaurant was nice & roomy. Ordered at the register. I ordered for take out $65 worth of food and got a free $5 gift card for ordering over $50. Food came out quick. I ordered the chao long, the seafood salad, filet with macaroni, the udon with thick broth and one with the thin broth. The thick broth was so thick it took me a minute to get use to it. But the flavor for everything was so good. I definitely want to check out other stuff menu was way bigger than I thought it would be. read more
The best meal I had in Houston! Everything about this place - from food to service was 10/10. I really enjoyed the thick broth and noodles and the soft shell crab went perfectly with it. Prices are very reasonable and this will be the first spot I go to the next time I'm in Houston. read more

I order the original banh canh with the thick broth... and boy was it thick! I think if they mixed the two broths together then maybe it would've been better. I couldn't finish my bowl - I think my belly was fully of jelly! We were excited about the egg rolls because they were made of rice paper, however, it tasted as if the oil was old. The only saving grace was that hubs LOVED the short ribs rice plate. He said it was flavorful and tender. read more

The service was really good! They let you sit with you preference and are very patient when you order. I had the banh canh tom cua while my mom had the banh canh dac biet--it comes with crab on the side. I tried some and the crab is so yummy. The soup is very flavorful and a little thick, exactly the way I like it. They provide a generous amount of toppings and the cha is very good, not too peppery. read more

Great service when I was here. They're quick to give you recommendations so you they can get an order in fast for you. Got seated right away on New Year's Day noon time. I discovered this place on Yelp as I was craving banh canh cua one day. I asked my mom if she wanted to go try it and then eventually we went to go try it. They have different kinds of banh canh from shrimp and crab, seafood, pork, and more! You have the option of choosing your type of broth between thick orange or a thin water based. I was impressed by the fast service after I placed my order. The service would be fast if you ordered banh canh or any other soups they have like hu tieu. The broth is great even if you put fish sauce, chili paste, or both in. They also have extra fried dough sticks you can eat with your banh canh, but you have pay extra for it. So far, Mom and I approved of this place and this will be a new favorite restaurant to go to in Bellaire! read more

I wish I would have not eaten before taking this picture. This is the best seafood hu tieu I've had in a long long time. My husband and I preferred Uber eats. He had the rice plate with ribs and grilled chicken. We both are very impressed with the quality and value. The seafood was not over cooked and the small shrimp balls are real, no fillers. Not the large imported stuff you often see at restaurants. All Of the ingredients were quality. The broth was clear and didn't leave me thirsty, which is usually an indicator of artificial stuff. When I said I was craving Banh Canh, my parents recommended this place that opened not too long ago. The 3 of us came on a Sunday morning around 10:00ish The interior was clean, modern, and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and polite, the food is good, and the overall experience was incredibly unexpected for a Chinatown establishment. I ordered #10 Banh Canh Thap Cam, my mom got #9 Banh Canh Tom Cha, and my dad got #33 Com Suon Nuong. I also got a Nuoc Rau Ma Dau Xanh. The Banh Canh was incredibly flavorful and the portion was a good size. My dad's rice plate was kind of small, though. The broth was good but you definitely need the lime because it's kind of salty without it. I ended up getting full of the yummy drink and couldn't finish the other half my bowl, so my dad finished the rest of it. Overall, this new restaurant is worth the try! Very friendly, clean, pretty, and has good food. Definitely something you don't see often on Bellaire. read more
So confused as to why this place isn't closer to five stars. The banh canh is super flavorful and the menu is very extensive in case whoever you're eating with would rather eat rice or another dish. Their watercress octopus salad is an amazing (and large) appetizer tastes very fresh and makes for a tasty leftover option. Their chilies are nice and spicy and their cha is super flavorful and plentiful! I wish they didn't charge so much for the chinese dough sticks, if only the price was better this place would be a definite 5 stars. read more
I read all the reviews before going here so I was kinda iffy about it but I'm pretty glad we went to try it!! It was pretty good! The people who wrote bad reviews were complaining about the type of noodles or the thickness but I didn't see a problem with it. Banh canh tom cua dac biet/speci (5/5) the consistency of the soup broth is thick but I actually like it that way!! I also like my Chao thick too so honestly it's just personal opinion. Goi cun thit nuong/grilled pork spring rolls (5/5) the thit nuong actually has a lot of flavor. I know you're probably thinking "how can you go wrong with thit nuong?" But trust me some places really don't know how to perfectly grill the meat. Some places use too much lemongrass or they don't chargrill it to give it the grill taste.. if you know, you know. Cha gio/eggrolls (4/4) ooo these were pretty good! The wrapping on the eggrolls were different than normal. read more
