Coconut snails
Monkeemamajo ..

Soft opening again! 20% off for dinner! We had the coconut snails, Nem wrap plate and clams with rice cracker. The snail and rice cracker taste so good with the snail coconut sauce combined!! The Nem wrap was sooo delicious!! Will be back for their special breakfast and lunch menu! The staff were super nice and sweet!! Great service!!!

A seafood restaurant with a diverse menu of Vietnamese dishes. I really like the ambiance and the seasoning here. I ordered crawfish, grilled apple snails with fish sauce and pepper, bamboo spring rolls, grilled oysters, quail eggs stir-fried with tamarind, crispy chicken cartilage with garlic, and grilled squid skewers.

We wanted to check out a restaurant in Houston that specializes in Oc and boy did they deliver! The portions were fairly priced giving the time and season. We left full and happy. The service was really nice we were always checked on by the sweetest waitress. The restaurant is really clean and we were seated immediately. I'll be back for sure!

We arrived around 9pm on a Friday and it was empty as can be. We ordered the thai hot pot- broth was on the sweeter side. Sliced beef was really thick but definitely precut and frozen. The noodles were not fresh and broken up. The combo seafood plate was good but missing the coriander herb that normally comes with this dish. Food was decent, service was good since we were the only ones there . My only complaint was the male server that's sitting in the corner on his phone hacking/coughing up or trying to clear his throat of something every 2 mins. It was disturbing while we were trying to eat.

Banh bot chien... nice and crispy egg rice cake ... probably one of the best in town if you love this particular dish.

Decent spot for some viet street style foods... the overwhelming star of the night was the banh bot chien... they probably serve the best version of this egg rice cake dish in town as it has a nice balance of crispiness and just the right amount of egg. Dare I say we liked this better than the famous one at Tan Tan. Everything else, though, was pretty standard vietnamese street food fare like grilled skewers and assorted rice and noodle dishes. Ironically, the beef hot pot itself was the least memorable part of the meal. Deep in Alief, I'd compare this closely with HEM just down the street.

Love the food here! Seasoning is definitely on par with actual Vietnamese street food. We absolutely loved the fried rice with fish eggs!! It also had Vietnamese sausage, egg, and small shrimps. There's a subtle wok flavor which complemented the rice beautifully. Grilled chicken feet was delicious! Wonderfully flavored and they should add a spicy option! Now here's the good part: snails! We ordered the combo snails and the variety was good. There were 5 different species of snails/clams that were grilled with peanuts and green onions! This dish also came with 3 dipping sauces. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the only complaint we had is that they should clean the clam/mussel more carefully because one or two of them were still sandy! Coconut snails were very rich and flavorful! There's a little heat which countered the coconut flavor beautifully!

Food and service was great and I would definitely come back! The place is kinda small and in my opinion, is only good for small groups of 4 people. Unless you're sitting at the bar or the booths, but when arrived, the booths were reserved for a party. Not sure if they serve alcoholic beverages either, but I know their known for their hot pots (hence their name), along with their grilled seafood. Came her with some girlfriends and although we didn't get to try their hotpot, we got to try several other dishes. Coconut snails were by far my absolute favorite! It is challenging to eat, but my technique is simple but might sound perverted. Suck the smaller end first, then suck the bigger end and the meat will easily come out. Suck hard because it gets stuck. Thank me later! Aside from all that, the combination plate offers literally a little bit of everything on the seafood section. We also got to try the octopus in the green sauce, mini egg rolls, Banh bot chien (egg and rice cake), and clams in lemongrass broth. Fried chicken feet was great! I never had chicken feet the way they make it, and it's definitely recommended! Had a good kick to it as well! Wonton soup and noodles were also pretty good. Corn dish was just okay... could go without ordering this. Regardless, service was friendly and food came out super fast! Our table was so full we couldn't fit anymore new dishes coming out! Definitely recommend coming here if you're a hot pot and seafood lover! Enjoy!!!

Things to know before coming: Can get super packed! So I recommend getting a reservation if possible! It's a very Vietnamese style oriented place! Quite small, so if you have a big gathering - it can be cramp. There are three things you HAVE to get on the menu: The combination platter! Combo Oc - it even comes with long pick sticks to easily take out the snails; also the green sauce it quite spicy, so I preferred dipping it only in fish sauce (definitely personal preference). Oc Mong Tay Nuong Mo Hanh - snails dripping garlic butter and onion oil! This is a fan favorite! :) Bo nuong Xa - grilled beef skewers in lemongrass. The beef literally fell off the stick - SO GEWD. Another favorite of mines have to also be the bot chien - which is fried rice cakes cooked in eggs! Pretty filling and I prefer it over the bot chien with chicken. IG - @piggieats_

I've seen this place on social media so I decided to stop by for dinner. After I got seated with a menu I was ignored for a while. No drink order or anything. When a waitress finally came, I got a water, mini egg rolls, and beef skewers with satay sauce. The egg rolls were so good. I could eat a hundred of them. The weird thing was the sauce wasn't the traditional fish sauce you'd get with Vietnamese food, but a sweet/sour-ish one you'd get with a Chinese American egg roll. The beef skewers were pure salt. The dipping sauce as well. I was disappointed with that dish. I went to the counter to pay and was also waiting a while. No one was there and I just stood there until someone came out from the kitchen.

Great place for snacking/chilling with friends. The place is pretty dark. I'm assuming this place is for people who want to hang and drink since they have a bar island. We ordered the following: Chicken feet chili Thai clams in soup Blood clams in tamarind Bot chien Mi go reng beef The platter:includes a whole bunch of seafood Corn with baby shrimp Coconut snails I don't know if they did this on purpose or if it's always like that but the chicken feet were small. So small i thought I was eating pretzel sticks. Barely any skin, that good stuff. Flavor was there but it was impossible to eat without getting slobber all on you The Thai clams were my least favorite. The flavor was okay, but the clams were over cooked and a bit rubbery Blood clams were good! A nice balance of tamarind and sweetness. Small, but yummy! The bot chien is delicious. I usually don't know where to go when getting this, so I'd go to tan tan but here they make it extra crispyyyyyy. Mmmm. My favorite place now for this. Mi go reng beef was okay. Lacked flavor. It was basically rau muong with beef and ramen noodles. It tasted just like that. It needed soy sauce from the bot chien. Hehe The platter was great! I really love the presentation. Specifically because I love variety of these babies. The snails were not over cooked like most places, the green sauce was okay, fish sauce was good for these. They provide you sticks for easy consumption. Pretty great scallops, delicious garlic! The mussels were flavorful! Corn with baby shrimp was a bit dry but nice flavor to enjoy with the spread. The coconut snails was thicccc. What I mean is, the sauce was as thick as pudding! They tried to keep it hot by lighting a fire but it went out within a few min. The snails were nicely cooked, hard to suck out but worth the work. Overall, happy with the food, prices were reasonable, quick service, my new fav place!

I was really looking forward to this when visiting Houston. It's often hard to find shell fishes like in Vietnam so it was really nice coming here to get my seafood fix. We ordered the oc mong tai- long fingernail shellfish (not literally fingernails just the name) smothered in tamarind sauce. It tasted so good. We then got the shellfish combo platter which was grilled and topped with fried garlic and green onions. They came out with several sauces, and they were all soooo good as well. Finally, we got the beef hot pot with ramen noodles, and the broth was cooked with perfection with some herbs in there. The beef was tender and soft, the only complaint was that their veggies that came with the hot pot wasn't as fresh, some were bad. But overall, I loved the place, the restaurant is a bit small and we got there right before the rush dinner hour. It will be a place I hope to return.

I went with my brother, and the atmosphere alone made it feel like an experience, not just a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Ordering is done through an online system, which is cool in theory, though my service struggled a bit, thankfully my brother had no issues, so we made it work. We ordered the triple broth: spicy bone tallow, tomato, and chicken. The spicy broth definitely packs a punch (even for spice lovers-stay hydrated ). The tomato broth was rich, savory, and hands-down my favorite. The chicken broth was a little bland, but the overall flavors were still solid. While I wish there was a bigger meat and seafood selection (especially for seafood lovers like me), everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, Old Alley Hot Pot is a great spot for date night, a fun dinner with friends or family, or even a cozy solo outing. Highly recommend for the experience alone.

The food at Shabu En is so good! The service is very thoughtful also and they're very attentive. The decorations in the restaurant is also very nice and it's very clean too. There's plenty of parking so no need to worry about driving around to get a spot unless you're trying to be closer. When you walk in, there is a waiting area where you can sit while waiting to be seated. They also provide some water and snacks in the front while waiting. It also has a photo spot near the front. For the food, there is a big selection. They have lots of soup bases, and it's possible to switch soup bases if you feel tired of the one you started with. I tried a few and they were all good. The flavors start to mix after you put in your hotpot ingredients, so I would suggest drinking some of the soup beforehand. My favorite broth I tried was the duck broth. You can really taste the duck and it's the most flavorful to me, and someone in the group said you can really taste the five spice powder (I couldn't but I liked it a lot). The tonkatsu is pretty decent and tastes like what you expect. I tried the Shabu En special broth, and it tastes like dashi soup. Very standard and pretty good broth. In my opinion, the sukiyaki broth is good for short term broth and just dipping your meat temporarily. To me the sweetness overpowered the soy sauce flavor, but it's still very good. You get your meat by ordering with the server, but they come by very often and it comes out very quickly that you don't really notice a long period without any meat. At the center where you grab veggies and the sauce bar, there are sections where you can get drinks, such as tea and Vietnamese coffee, which is in addition to the drinks you can order off the menu. There is also a small dessert station but it's a must try! It has a snow shaved ice, and it has a toppings bar next to it with toppings and different sauces you can put on it. Overall, it's a really good AYCE restaurant that's definitely worth trying out.

Price - as of May 2026, All you can eat adult prices are $24 for lunch, and $34 for dinner. 3. Ambiance - contemporary, white marble, shiny chandeliers, and plenty of booth seatings. This place looks classy. You'll be amazed as to how big the interior is. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - pretty straight forward hotpot place. I like their SHIITAKE MUSHROOM Broth. I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

Service was fast, and what seemed like a seemingly small building was actually bustling. We ordered the Best of Both Worlds option and requested the Spicy Bone Marrow along with the Tomato Broth; they complement each other quite well, with the Spicy Bone Marrow being our personal favorite. It is definitely spicy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. The Tomato Broth was delicious as well, but added a nice sweetness to our meal. We chose the Classic All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal, and ordered a plate of the Natural Prime-Aged Lamb, the Hand Sliced Beef Short Plate, the Marinated Garlic Beef, and the Pork Belly; I can't say I'm a huge fan of how they divided the meat selections, however, since I could get premium meat elsewhere without being limited. But overall, the meat was of decent quality, and the buffet offered various options. Compared to other hot pot places, they even had a section where you could serve yourself egg rolls, white rice/fried rice, and stir-fried noodles, though I can't speak to the quality... very much buffet-quality if you catch my drift, but still lovely nonetheless. Similarly, you can fetch your own iced drinks and dessert too. I do wish Happy Lamb's sauce station had special pre-made flavors or instructions for making them, much like Shabu Zone or Haidilao; sometimes I don't trust myself to freestyle my own sauce. There are some cross-contamination concerns as well, since there'd be about 4 tongs at foot/pants level, but at least 9 food options (e.g., noodles, dumplings, veggies) to choose from. Not sure if other people share the same sentiment, but I guess they all get boiled in the end anyway. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in Downtown Houston! But I wouldn't call Happy Lamb my go-to spot.

Sauce Bar: This is where shabu zone differentiates itself. The sauce bar is not your typical make yourself hot pot sauce, but they also have premade sauces that are delicious. The garlic sauce, black garlic, spicy ponzu, wasabi and corn are amazing. I just can't express enough how amazing it is to have the sauce bar and banchan bar. Banchan Bar: My favorite part of shabu zone and something that keeps me coming back. The onion jalapeno banchan is amazing, sweet and delicious perfect balance to the meat. The kimchi selection is great! I love making wraps with the white radish rounds too. Dessert: Good ice cream selection like their green tea and red bean flavors. Also, the coffee flavor is very good. The Vietnamese fruit cocktail che is also a nice touch that my parents love getting. Vegetable/Noodle options: Good options, I love the pumpkin and broccolli, watercress, spinach, enoki mushroom too! Lots of seafood options and different noodles. The hand pulled korean flat noodles are amazing. Broth: Broth is good, with sukiyaki being a favorite of mine along with Miso and Tonkotsu (vegetarian is nice as well). While the broths here are not as flavorful as rival shabu places like (Shabu En), it is good enough and does not hinder the experience. Overall, I will stand by my love for shabu zone. For veggies: Shiitake mushrooms, Mung Bean Sprouts, Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Eggplant, Zucchini and we topped it off with a pineapple drink. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. It is eclectic, decorated in an Asian pop culture theme with [sometimes promiscuous lol] music videos playing on a big projector screen. And, it is honestly loud (booths are in rather close proximity to one another and there's constant clatter & commotion from the table action). We had a few issues - the grill didn't stay hot (either malfunctioning or low on fuel), there weren't any hot buffet options (like other locations offer), and a few menu items were unavailable (ran out) - but we enjoyed our meal, nonetheless. Even with a few missing offerings, there is plenty of variety - meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, noodles & rice. The sauce bar has many condiments & dips; you can play mad scientist with your seasonings/marinade. And, there was a cold buffet that offered kimchi and a few fruits. They also had a long list of beverages that included boozy cocktails and exotic smoothies or teas. Kevin was an outstanding server - extremely attentive & superbly patient (bless his heart for accommodating our rowdy and very needy group of newbies lol). Some tips for first-timers: -The AYCE pricing is applied to the whole table, so you have to make a group decision if you want to do bbq or hotpot or both ($5 add on). -Holidays and weekends are priced for Dinner all day. -They don't take reservations, so there may be a wait (especially if you have a large group). -It is booth seating throughout, with a max of 6 people per booth. -You have a 2 hour time limit (which seems like a lot, but you do have to wait for meat to cook on the grill).
