Service is ok. But luckily most of it is self serve. Lots of hot pot options. Not tons of sauce selection. Has egg noodles and fried rice with some desserts. Wish there was more sauces to select from tho. Over still one of my favorite spots for hot pot. Clean. Fresh.

Always a great meal. I prefer to go at lunch time as there is usually no wait for a table (or finding parking).

I feel like this is a hotpot place that you really can't go wrong with. I love that it's a non-Bellaire option too. My group and I walked in on a weekday evening and were seated immediately. They're an AYCE hotpot restaurant priced at a similar point compared to other ayce hotpot places in Houston. My friends and I chose to have their premium menu that was ~ $30. The broths were flavorful and the meat options were solid. There's a bar area full of vegetables, sauces, dumplings, sauces and more. Service was pretty quick too.

When you ordered the third plate , they gave you really FATTY FAATTTT beef , look at the ratio, almost 20 to 80 fat

the last time I came , there were very few people , today at 1:40 PM still 3 parties ahead of us , better make waitlist ahead of time. The cleaning guy should spray less so it don'tdo on to other tables that's still eating !

Came here on a Saturday it was 60 bucks for two people AYCE style. There is a salad bar. You can also get noodles, sauces, and desserts in that area. Drinks our self serve at the fountain drink machine. The menu is a little small as far as the types of meats you can order. You can get up to 3 broths. If you get 2 broths, there is no additional fee but I think there is a fee if you get 3. The spicy broth wasn't very spicy to me but had really good flavor. The only thing I would also comment is that if it's your first time, I wish they would do an explanation. The place was very busy, it's good. The meat is good but obviously it's not seasoned since the broth is well seasoned. Overall good service, good vibes, good value.

This used to be our favorite place. Now they charge a hidden $2 base fee per person that's not included in the all-you-can-eat price and is printed in very small font on the table menu. You only notice it after sitting down--reading glasses definitely help.

Solid hot pot on this side of town. It's all you can eat with two different menu options, one with more premium meat options. I opted for the premium menu. It's cafeteria style where you can fill your plates with whatever veggies and carbs you want. The meats were plated very beautifully. Both soup bases were very flavorful though I will say the spicy broth wasn't very spicy... Overall, a good bang for your buck if you're craving hot pot and can't make it to Chinatown!

This place is pretty decent. The choices of meat are solid for any hot pot places but the choices of sides is amazing. I love that there is vegetables, eggs, and other side dishes. My friends and I looooves the fried chicken. 10/10 We came in on a Sunday so it was pretty busy but it seemed as they were short staff. Nevertheless they were pretty nice. It's a clean establishment and very well lit. It's a good spot to hang with friends for sure

If you haven't had hot pot, then this place is worth a try to have a taste of boiling your own meat Chinese style. We tried the lower cost ayce hot pot, was very good. For about $30 per person after tax, you can't go wrong with it. Decent choices for basic hot pot needs with their lower cost version. Free soft drinks, but wine and beer cost extra. Service is nice for a buffet, but you might need to get their attention if for example the Diet Coke is out. They also have fried chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken and fried rice/noodles for your "traditional" taste. Serving areas are fairly clean as well. The plates for the higher cost one looked better, aka the angus beef, so we might try that next time. Make sure to separate your utensils for raw things and cook your meat thoroughly.

Always a pleasure to eat at happy lamb.... It's my happy place lol but the Chicago locations where always good ( China town location is hit or miss on freshness and cleanliness) Veggies are always fresh, sauce bar is great, drinks included and dessert varies depending on location.

I LOVE this place. I go here after work and go crazy with it. I love this place. never a wait and the food and service is AMAZING. AND CLEAN.

Gao J.

Food was great, but the service... not so much. One server kept rolling their eyes and acted super cold the whole time, which kind of killed the vibe. Aside from that, everything else was awesome. The lamb rolls were delicious, especially with the herbal-tasting broth -- it has this slight "medicine" flavor that actually feels really healthy and perfect for winter. If the spicy pot isn't spicy enough, just ask them to throw in more chili. The roasted lamb leg was the real star -- seriously amazing. I'd totally come back, not for the service, but for the food.

Meat selection was very limited. If you're not a fan of lamb, this is probably NOT the place to go. But if you are like me, and love lamb as well as beef, then welcome! I got their spicy soup and traditional soup. Both were a bit "medicine-y" in taste, but nice flavor once you get past that. And I got the top level spicy but didn't even get a tickle. Service was quick, although they put my food at the wrong table. Upside; there wasn't anyone sitting at the table next to me. So easy enough for them to move all over to my table. Nice selection of veggies and seafood. Even had a cooked food buffet. Your meal comes with a drink. They have a self serve soda fountain as well as a couple of iced teas to choose from. Saw ice cream, but it was dine in only. So couldn't take it to go with me back to work. So had to skip that.

I went with my brother, and the atmosphere alone made it feel like an experience, not just a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Ordering is done through an online system, which is cool in theory, though my service struggled a bit, thankfully my brother had no issues, so we made it work. We ordered the triple broth: spicy bone tallow, tomato, and chicken. The spicy broth definitely packs a punch (even for spice lovers-stay hydrated ). The tomato broth was rich, savory, and hands-down my favorite. The chicken broth was a little bland, but the overall flavors were still solid. While I wish there was a bigger meat and seafood selection (especially for seafood lovers like me), everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, Old Alley Hot Pot is a great spot for date night, a fun dinner with friends or family, or even a cozy solo outing. Highly recommend for the experience alone.

The food at Shabu En is so good! The service is very thoughtful also and they're very attentive. The decorations in the restaurant is also very nice and it's very clean too. There's plenty of parking so no need to worry about driving around to get a spot unless you're trying to be closer. When you walk in, there is a waiting area where you can sit while waiting to be seated. They also provide some water and snacks in the front while waiting. It also has a photo spot near the front. For the food, there is a big selection. They have lots of soup bases, and it's possible to switch soup bases if you feel tired of the one you started with. I tried a few and they were all good. The flavors start to mix after you put in your hotpot ingredients, so I would suggest drinking some of the soup beforehand. My favorite broth I tried was the duck broth. You can really taste the duck and it's the most flavorful to me, and someone in the group said you can really taste the five spice powder (I couldn't but I liked it a lot). The tonkatsu is pretty decent and tastes like what you expect. I tried the Shabu En special broth, and it tastes like dashi soup. Very standard and pretty good broth. In my opinion, the sukiyaki broth is good for short term broth and just dipping your meat temporarily. To me the sweetness overpowered the soy sauce flavor, but it's still very good. You get your meat by ordering with the server, but they come by very often and it comes out very quickly that you don't really notice a long period without any meat. At the center where you grab veggies and the sauce bar, there are sections where you can get drinks, such as tea and Vietnamese coffee, which is in addition to the drinks you can order off the menu. There is also a small dessert station but it's a must try! It has a snow shaved ice, and it has a toppings bar next to it with toppings and different sauces you can put on it. Overall, it's a really good AYCE restaurant that's definitely worth trying out.

Price - as of May 2026, All you can eat adult prices are $24 for lunch, and $34 for dinner. 3. Ambiance - contemporary, white marble, shiny chandeliers, and plenty of booth seatings. This place looks classy. You'll be amazed as to how big the interior is. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - pretty straight forward hotpot place. I like their SHIITAKE MUSHROOM Broth. I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

Food: 9/10 Meats: I always get numbers 1, 2, 5, and 6. The meat cuts 1 and 2 are my favorite on the dinner menu because they are so tender and not too fatty. 5 and 6 are my favorites on the lunch menu. Sauce Bar: This is where shabu zone differentiates itself. The sauce bar is not your typical make yourself hot pot sauce, but they also have premade sauces that are delicious. The garlic sauce, black garlic, spicy ponzu, wasabi and corn are amazing. I just can't express enough how amazing it is to have the sauce bar and banchan bar. Banchan Bar: My favorite part of shabu zone and something that keeps me coming back. The onion jalapeno banchan is amazing, sweet and delicious perfect balance to the meat. The kimchi selection is great! I love making wraps with the white radish rounds too. Dessert: Good ice cream selection like their green tea and red bean flavors. Also, the coffee flavor is very good. The Vietnamese fruit cocktail che is also a nice touch that my parents love getting. Vegetable/Noodle options: Good options, I love the pumpkin and broccolli, watercress, spinach, enoki mushroom too! Lots of seafood options and different noodles. The hand pulled korean flat noodles are amazing. Broth: Broth is good, with sukiyaki being a favorite of mine along with Miso and Tonkotsu (vegetarian is nice as well). While the broths here are not as flavorful as rival shabu places like (Shabu En), it is good enough and does not hinder the experience. Overall, I will stand by my love for shabu zone. The service was top notch Kevin our waiter was perfect, he explained exactly what us first timers needed to know (we opted for the BBQ vs Hot Pot) and gave excellent amount of service without interrupting too often, but without ignoring. And now my favorite part the food.... We ordered the following for our meat selections: Prime Beef Brisket, Spicy Beef Bulgogi, Garlic Chicken, Pork Belly, Cumin Lamb and Garlic Shrimp. For veggies: Shiitake mushrooms, Mung Bean Sprouts, Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Eggplant, Zucchini and we topped it off with a pineapple drink. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. The shrimp and chicken came in tied for second place for flavor bomb, I'm pretty sure they marinate this stuff for days for it to taste so full of flavor! It is eclectic, decorated in an Asian pop culture theme with [sometimes promiscuous lol] music videos playing on a big projector screen. And, it is honestly loud (booths are in rather close proximity to one another and there's constant clatter & commotion from the table action). We had a few issues - the grill didn't stay hot (either malfunctioning or low on fuel), there weren't any hot buffet options (like other locations offer), and a few menu items were unavailable (ran out) - but we enjoyed our meal, nonetheless. Even with a few missing offerings, there is plenty of variety - meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, noodles & rice. The sauce bar has many condiments & dips; you can play mad scientist with your seasonings/marinade. And, there was a cold buffet that offered kimchi and a few fruits. They also had a long list of beverages that included boozy cocktails and exotic smoothies or teas. Kevin was an outstanding server - extremely attentive & superbly patient (bless his heart for accommodating our rowdy and very needy group of newbies lol). He was assisted by a hard working team of table runners and busters who kept us stockpiled and refilled. The crew made sure things were never amiss. Some tips for first-timers: -The AYCE pricing is applied to the whole table, so you have to make a group decision if you want to do bbq or hotpot or both ($5 add on). -Holidays and weekends are priced for Dinner all day. -They don't take reservations, so there may be a wait (especially if you have a large group). -It is booth seating throughout, with a max of 6 people per booth. -You have a 2 hour time limit (which seems like a lot, but you do have to wait for meat to cook on the grill).
