Oh dear, this was a big miss for me. The Taiwanese hot pot here is nothing like Boiling Point or Tasty Pot in California. The broth is mala (Szechuan-style), which I really dislike. I'm especially disappointed because it's nothing like the Taiwanese hot pot I'm used to. On a positive note, they offer plenty of add-ins and meat, and the service was great. Maybe it's worth trying a different soup base next time.

There was no service provided, yet they charged 18% directly. This was done without my knowledge. Such behavior is prone to causing misunderstandings. I will not be returning as the food was below par and I had to leave a tip again.

I have had my moments where I crave some soup and especially hotpot. But one issue is most places are family portions or all you can eat. But one place goes against it: Tasty Point. I was looking for an individual hotpot and I have been craving Budae Jjigae (Korean army base stew) I was accustomed to the previous location about 2-3 lights down from the current location. Portion of the individual hotpot is more than enough. Hot but has a nice spice to it. Very flavorful and there are other options as well plus ramen. Also the individual hot pot came with a side dish and I went with the Taiwanese minced rice. The servers are nice and knowledgeable of the menu. But also I appreciate their patience because we did wait for another person and were nice to wipe down another table so we can be more comfortable. Not too often I go to Tasty Point but I do enjoy the variety on the menu. Ramen is available and so are rice dishes. Appetizers are plenty as well. The skewers are huge and the fries are long, seriously. It has a bit of everything and the seating is much more than the previous location

This rating is for the apps only - we did not do the hot pot. The appetizers were, eh? Half good & half not. The fried stinky tofu app was good. Fried baby octopus was also good. The 12 piece wings were 6 wingettes cut in half. Very misleading and lots of pointy bones if you're not careful can cut your mouth. The superfries are basically long pieces of fried mash potatoes... or it felt that way. It kept breaking if you tried to hold it from just one end. It's not worth 7.95. Chicken thigh and chicken gizzard skewer were both overcooked and tough. The small intestine was cooked perfectly. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars for the apps. Service was okay. It felt like they didn't want us in there since we just ordered apps, but that's just how we felt... not anything they said... They did have limited seating, and we took up 5 seats, but that was when they weren't busy yet. It did start to pick up as we were almost done.

We walked in this place off the street without any prior knowledge, no expectations. We were simply hungry. We were also pleasantly surprised. To start they have quite the menu options. We were vegan and non-vegan and everyone could eat. There were so many excellent new dishes that we never tried to choose from. The wait staff was charming, the kitchen fast. We were the only customers inside but the food take out traffic was steady. The decor is very nice with smoke seating and parking is available. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Plenty of choices for you to choose from, hot pot, ramen, skewers, etc. We opted for hot pot, choosing the tomato hot pot and coconut curry hot pot. Both were good but on the salty side. The tomato had a rich tomato flavor with fish filets and plenty of vegetables. This is good for vegetarians. The coconut curry hot pot was a rich creamy flavor due to the coconut cream. We went around 7 on a Wednesday night thinking it would be busy but we were the first ones in there. They weren't ideally busy at all which was surprising. 2 staff were working and were very quick to respond when we needed something. This is a good hang out spot with friends or to take a date. Music was playing in the background and tvs playing cooking shows. Overall, great place to go if you are craving hot pot. They allay have teas as well.

I was craving for Taiwanese/Chinese snacks and hot pot so I came specifically for those. They have a lot of options! However, the appetizer portions are so small, so I would say they are on the overpriced end. We ordered the spicy beef tendon, spicy bean curd, and spicy stinky tofu, but none of that was really spicy or mala, which is very different than the Szechuan taste I was expecting. The bean curd was good though, flavor just right and not too oily. The sweet and spicy wings are delicious, my bf and I love it the most, but so be expecting for the small sized wing (they cut the wing in half, so on the menu says 12 wing but you are only getting around 6 whole wings). Tried the Laksa hot pot because I was curious and want something new. I would give it a 8/10 because the creamy taste was good with subtle curry flavor. But not spicy as they stated, again. It's a spice friendly pot for everyone I would say. Also the size is good to share between two people. Place looks very bright and trendy, it does gets busy at night but definitely a good space to grab a quick dinner with friends and family. Nice vibe and service was fast and friendly.

Tasty Point at Dun Huang Plaza

This is my updated review since Tasty Point 鼎點 moved to Dun Huang Plaza. It is now located where Shabu House used to be in Building C. The closest entrance is on Corporate Drive. The menu is updated, less confusions from the inflation up charge on the old menu and more clarity on what they serve. Lunch has the best value as it comes with tea and $1 cheaper than dinner. The place filled up pretty quick on a weekday afternoon. Didn't seem like the move made any difference. I ordered the first item on the menu - Taiwanese Stinky Tofu Hot Pot 台式臭臭锅 with Braised Pork Rice. The iced tea was kind of sweet for me. It came with a takeout cup, like the old location. It's was convenient to carry out. It took about 15 minutes to get my dish. I asked not to lit up the flame because I was in a hurry. The food was hot enough. This dish has everything about Taiwanese street food but not stinky. I was able to finish in 25 minutes while taking few pictures to document my experience. In comparison to the old location, I like this new location because of space. The interior is much bigger and tables are aligned logically. I think I'll visit often during lunchtime.

I came here with my friends recently for the first time! Nice foody vibe with good decorations in the restaurant! There were no vegetarian options on the menu yet the chef made us a vegetarian dish with tomato based soup and it was very delicious! They should definitely make some veggie options so many vegetarian vegan people can come! Personally, I enjoyed a lot yet the only con from the experience was a bit of unfriendliness of a worker. He seemed to be a quick worker but his attitude was obviously not pleasant. Knowing it can be tiring but still important to serve customers with good attitudes as a server. Hope to see a few improvements when I go back sometimes in the future :) But the food was delicious Keep up the good work! Cheers

    Get it together

I don't like giving bad stars. I used to come here all the time. This trip had dead and wilting flower. Dirty tables galore- nobody cleaned them. Told us to sit , where at dirty tables ? Booths were pushed in funny positions. Lady / waitress is strange. Very quiet and won't help us. What else, lol. Asked for lines 4 times. And water 3 times. To get some. Sauces were all open and dirty.

    10. Korean Army Hot Pot Dinner
    Quynh-Anh V.

Visited again the other day at the new location in Dun Huang Plaza. The Korean Army Pot tastes worse now compared to the old location, the flavors feel a lot weaker and it's not spicy at all. Also my Taiwanese friend said the Stinky tofu pot was not stinky at all--so not much flavor and not very authentic. Really sad by the drop in quality yet increase in price after moving to the new location.

This place is great if you're craving hot pot but don't want to do AYCE. This spot combines the joy of personal hot pot with an refreshed atmosphere. They used to be located in the honey pig plaza and a bit smaller. It's a perfect choice for those seeking something warm in the cold weather. The options are diverse, ranging from comforting classics to lighter alternatives. I usually go for the Korean army stew or the Taiwanese spicy hot pot. You also get to choose a side. I get the braised pork rice each time; it's so addicting! Whether you're a hot pot enthusiast or just looking for a novel dining experience on a cold day, tasty point is right up your alley.

Came here with a friend for dinner. The last time I came to Tasty Point was at the old location in Welcome shopping center. Now they moved toward the Beltway 8. I order #10 Korean Army Hot Pot 4.5/5 stars. The hot pot is pretty big that you can share with another person if you not a big eater. I order the braised ground pork rice bowl 5/5 stars as the side order. This never disappoint me. This is one of the best braised ground pork rice. Definitely will come back and try other hot pot flavor.

Flying V Harvest was fantastic. I drank that broth like I just came out of the Sahara. So good. The Impossible meat fusion is a funny add but a good protein bump. It was a few days ago but I think I'm still full from that ramen bowl. The vibe is modern high ceiling bumping music; my in-laws found it to be too loud. I think they are giving you an excuse to lean in and get a little closer to your companion. The vibe is chic yet also casual so bring whoever you want but this would work for date night. The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. Salivating at the thought of the next visit.

Their ramen is flavorful and solid and their service is consistent. Parking: parking is free in the garage around the corner from JINYA. We went during the week and the garage was not packed. There's also paid street parking around the restaurant that you can find but look for signs to know when you have to pay and when you don't. Service: service here is very good. They have an army of waitresses and waiters who check on tables and we never had to ask for refills or never had to flag down someone. Our food came out in a timely manner. The one thing I will say about service is the appetizers we ordered came out right before our ramen so we had all of our food at one time which was a lot. I wish they would've spaced out the food timing a little more. Ambiance: JINYA has a modern interior and open concept. They have tables, booths, and 2 big community tables in the center of the restaurant. The restaurant playlist is hip and modern. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so if you have bad eyesight, get ready to use your flashlight to read the menu. Food: we ordered two ramens and the gyoza and edamame. Gyoza: these were fried well and had a gyoza sauce that came on the table. The wrapper was thin and they were not too oily. We would order this again. Edamame: this was typical edamame. Nothing too special. Would not get this again when we come back. Creamy Classic Tori-Paitian: this is a chicken ramen with wavy noodles that came with fried enoki mushrooms, chicken chasu, butter, spinach and a corn rib. This ramen was rich in flavor and had so many fun, delicious toppings. The corn run was grilled nicely and I wish I had more of them in my bowl. I'm a sucker for enoki mushrooms and this did not disappoint. I took the enoki mushrooms out of the ramen immediately so they didn't get soggy fast and that was the move if you want the mushrooms to stay crunchy. The chicken broth was rich and light which was a great combo. I finished this bowl to the last drop. JINYA Chicken Ramen: my girlfriend got the chicken ramen with a side of bamboo. Warning on the bamboo: the bamboo comes dressed in sesame oil and sole hot oil so they are a little spicy. The chicken ramen broth was once again rich with flavor and light. The chicken chase was good and this ramen comes with thin noodles instead of wavy noodles. Overall JINYA hits the spot when craving ramen or some hot soup on a cold day. The chicken broth is legit and I will be closing back to try the pork broth soon. My only qualm with JINYA is the price at over $17 per bowl of ramen. There are cheaper ramen places but JINYA flavor makes up for the priciness.

I was seriously tempted to order another plate since it only came with 6-7 pieces. Next, all the ramens came out. I got the shoyu truffle which I enjoyed a lot. I liked that you can taste the truffle flavor without it being overpowering. Also liked that the broth itself wasn't as salty as some ramen places. Noodles were al dente and all the toppings were tasty! Loved that the char sui actually had a good amount of lean meat versus it being mostly fat. The char grilled bamboo shoots were a nice touch as well. I tried my son's tonkotsu shoyu and enjoyed it too. I think my least favorite was my husband's tonkotsu gachi ramen, but he enjoyed it. They deserve 4.5 stars because come on it's 24/7 ramen. Parking is cool but limited. First impression walking in was that it has this really unique and dope vibe. I love the set up and it was giving spacious. There were cassette tapes aligned on the wall in the booth we sat in, which I thought was very creative. There was Anime characters above the doors when you first walk in, with Anime playing on the TVs at the bar. Oh yeah, THERES A FULL BAR if you ready to get your drink on. Now, off rip the host was annoying. She was kinda rushy and caught an attitude when we asked for a booth. We can't even describe the vibe she gave off fr. It was just BLEH. Our table was clean which is very important to us and our waitress Yasmin was kind and patient with our questions, and dietary substitutions. We ordered the Super Saiyan Nachos as an appetizer for $16. Maaann, these were so delicious!!!!! We actually substituted the pork for shiitake mushrooms and when I tell y'all we were surprised at the portion We both looked at each other like "YAAASSSSSS" Next came our Ramen orders which didn't take long at all. Not that we were counting because we were INDULGED in those nachos LOL Babii rated her Oxtail Ramen a '7/10' for $25. She would've preferred to get shiitake mushrooms because she particularly didn't like the fact that the Oxtails were shredded and not on the bone (which is what we both expected when reading it). She also would've liked if they gave her a spice option since she likes spicy ramen. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a nasty 'Kappa' sauce which was not worth the $1.50. To her the portion size was A1, however we paid for the meat so it wasn't worth the $25. Now, the Vegetable Garden to me was a '8.5/10' it was good, had amazing portion size and they were not lacking in the texture department. I mean, the spinach noodles were delish, vegetable cooked very Al dente. I cannot complain on that part. To me it was missing a bit of flavor, maybe salt would've done the trick. Overall though, it did have the flavor of the mushrooms which wasn't bad. Most importantly though, I felt light after consuming my meal. Therefore, I have to give it all a high rating.
