We were able to get a table without a wait, but it was crowded for dinner on a weekend night. Exterior is unassuming, but the interior is huge and they even have a private room. They have a vast menu, along side a bubble tea menu. The service was attentive, and they would come by and clean up or take away anything that we were done with. They even packed our leftover food very efficiently. We ordered their triple pepper beef, and shrimp. Generous and delicious portions. The vegetable was sautéed well with garlic. The fried rice was packed with protein, and was done well. Prices for the dishes varies but the portion is very generous, would be a good pick for big family dine out and they take reservations. My most recommend would be the dry pots and the hot sour noodles. All the dry pot will be served with the fish hanger, great for picture and aesthetic. The glass noodle is numbing spicy and tangy because of the vinegar so makes it so addicting to keep eating. Overall their dishes are not too spicy, and they have non spicy specialities too. I already went twice in the last two weeks, and when I brought up the first time to my dad (we're Sichuanese), he asked me every day when we would go. Dishes we ordered across the 2 days: == Tossed clear noodles with chili sauce == solid, great texture on the noodles, good spice levels, 5/5 == Sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce == solid, this might be one of the more 'adventurous' dishes for those who are unfamiliar with the uncommon beef cuts. 5/5 == Fish fillet with rattan pepper == probably my favorite dish we ordered, lots of green sichuan peppercorn. 5/5 == Mapo Tofu == classic dish, goes well with rice 4/5 == Eight delicacies tofu == good dish, though everyone was expecting (hoping) it to be spicy (1 pepper level on the menu), but it wasn't. 3/5 == Pepper Stir-Fried Chicken == classic dish. Great new Szechuan place. Came here on a Wednesday around 5:30pm. There were several tables of customers. By the time we left the place filled up. Beautiful lux interior. Clean restrooms. The pricing was decent here - we did family style and ordered one order of spicy wontons, pork hock, and dan dan noodles, and it was about $16 each after tax and tip. The service was good and speedy, and the food came out nice and hot. No complaints there. The ambiance was cool. I liked how open and green everything was. It felt very earthy. My main issue was that the food itself wasn't super flavorful. The dumpling meat could've been way more tender. The actual chili oil or sauce they were in didn't have any flavor or spice either. The dan dan noodles were very light and did have a Szechuan aspect to them, but I've had better. The pork was definitely the star of the meal, and made up for the other dishes. I went to Triple pepper's newest location in bellaire for my uncles birthday. They have an original location in the montrose area. They specialize in Sichuan Chinese food. We got the fish fillet with rattan pepper, scallion beef, chili pepper with wonton, chili stir fried with century egg, and fried lotus root. The fish fillets were tender and good but if you're looking for spice then try ordering another dish. They do give a lot of fish in this dish. The beef scallion was our favorite dish of the night. The beef was cooked perfectly tender and was accompanied by a pleasant crunch from the stir fried onions. The wontons were just ok, not that spicy and the wrapper was not too firm. The century egg appetizer was something new, I didn't know what to expect with it but I actually ended up liking it. It's creamy and was actually the spiciest dish that we ordered. The fried lotus roots were tasteless, just something crunchy to eat. I wouldn't order it again. The entrees we ordered were good but some of the appetizers we got were misses. read more

Only complaint was that for the 4 cold dishes we ordered, at that price point (especially for the $12.95 Jellyfish, $7.95 Boiled Pork, & $7.95 Drunken Chicken), there should be more food. For our party of four, we each got around two bites per cold dish. For $18, the kidney dish was also less than expected BUT the taste (for being kidney) was great--not at all "fishy"/bloody/没有肉腥味!!--so the price point for that dish was definitely worth it for us! It has vermicelli noodles, so it's pretty filling Most dishes could be adjusted in terms of spiciness and for the dishes we tried, there was no MSG added :) No sweets on the menu though! :( My party and I came at 8:15 PM on a Thursday, so we were extremely happy to be seated. Service was excellent!! They were all super kind and courteous, and the food arrived pretty fast (albeit, we were only one of three dining parties at the time). Ambience of the store was pretty nice, too! There's enough small tables for a more intimate atmosphere while there's also a few big tables for large party reservations. Overall, we would come again if we're craving authentic, spicy Sichuan area (川菜) food, but we would like to recommend them to increase the portion sizes for a few of their dishes and hopefully incorporate a dessert menu. read more

Went to the just-opened location on Richmond Avenue in Afton Oaks and I will be back! Very nice decor inside and spacious. Service was prompt and efficient. Place was not crowded at all. To start, we ordered edamame and scallion pancakes which were tasty and cooked perfectly. Table ordered fried rice, Mongolian beef, pork ribs with cilantro, hunan chicken and general Tso's chicken. This Sichuan restaurant opened 2 weeks ago. Love the decor and the place gets crowded at around 12 noon. We had 3 appetizers, the cucumber, lotus roots, and slice beef and OX tongue (which is my least favorite). Look very different from the menu and it is a bit dry. Of the 3 appetizers, the lotus roots are my favorite. The frog dish was well seasoned, but very few pieces of frog meats. I preferred my stir fry intestines to be crispy, other than that, is well seasoned. I would certainly go back and try other dishes on the menu again. read more

Personally I don't ever go out to Sichuan restaurants because I think my mom makes the best Sichuan food. However, Triple Pepper blew me away with their authentic flavors with fairly reasonable prices. Service was mostly good, but one of the waiters needs to be educated not to reach across in front of of guests, but to come from behind on the side. Small but important thing.
