Classic chinese BBQ, just done really well. We tried the three signatures when I think of Chinese BBQ: char siu, crispy pork, and duck. Each one was fantastic. Great flavor, juicy, crispy, and pairs perfectly with rice. Char siu: such great flavor. The pieces also have that little burnt end that adds even more depth. Crispy belly: the meat was juicy and the skin was crispy. To me, that's all you need. Roast duck: this one was juicy, fatty, and very flavorful. Veggies: they're there, they're cooked well, it's actually nice to cut through some of the fat. Rice: a little wet, just like I like. Will be back for sure.

Very tasty Chinese bbq. All the aunties and uncles were dining in, so you know it's legit. I liked the duck- the skin was crispy, char siu, and soy sauce chicken. All the meats tastes great over rice or noodle soup.

Service is ok. Bowls came out look amazing looking. But idk why they skimped on our bowls. The bone to meat ratio was disappointing. Barely any meat to the cuts we were given. Like our cut of duck was like the neck?? I saw if u only order one meat they gave you fat pieces of meats. Combo meats they skimped real bad. Pretty pricy compared to any other bbq delis in the area. Would I come back, probably never if I was given the choice. There are better options in Houston.

Food was REALLY good but you shouldn't come here hungry. While the line was long, the amount of time you waited for your food after ordering would be even longerrr. :( Even though there was enough staff to run/clean/serve guests in the dining area, there was only 1 kitchen chef who can chop BBQ dishes for all dine-in and togo orders. As everyone has to wait so long for the food, it will also take longer time for each table to be done and then available for the next parties. Also best if you come in a party of 1-2 people. Only very few tables to sit 4-6 people, so you will have to wait a lot longer if you come with a larger party. While the food was very good, we would probably come back once the hype dies down a little.

Didn't take a photo of the food fast enough, so just sharing the logo for now

Got here at 6:30 PM on a Tuesday during their soft opening, and they were already almost sold out, only the scallion oil chicken was left! Luckily, it turned out to be delicious, very flavorful and well-seasoned. The service was great, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself is brand new, very clean, and has a nice, fresh feel. Looking forward to coming back earlier next time to try more of the menu!

Yes this place is legit. Food was good and the ambiance is on point. Glad to have another bbq place opened at the heart of Chinatown

On my most recent visit we ordered mapo tofu with pork intestines off the specials menu - a hybrid of two of my favorite Sichuan-style dishes. The blend of bouncy, savory morsels amidst tender, saucy tofu was at once revolutionary and so obvious; why hadn't I yet seen this at any other restaurant? And sure, innards may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's important for you to know that none of my past orders from the 50+ item menu have ever failed me, whether enjoyed in the restaurant or at home. Maybe you'd prefer the aromatic, classic, perfectly balanced three-cup chicken? Or the sweet-skinned duck, glazed so delicately that specks of sugar crystal threaten to jump off onto the plate as you pick up a juicy slice with your chopsticks? And if you're vegetarian, might you consider the punchy garlic eggplant or the wok-kissed string beans? I could go on. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself, though I'd recommend parallel parking on the neighborhood streets behind the restaurant rather than the rocky parking lot, to save you some trouble. Bring friends and chow down family style - you'll need help covering as much of the menu as you can, but you'll definitely have to come back to try everything.

First of all, prices increased. For 2 BBQ dishes + 1 shrimp + 1 veggie, the bill was $115. I was shocked. On top of that, the waitress insisted on a tip - no wait 18% tip for take out! She got mad bc she said she still took my order. I am really tired of tipping etiquette becoming completely an entitlement.

Also, the service is phenomenal, but we also speak Cantonese. D5. 化皮燒肉 ROAST PORK If you ran a knife across the roast pork skin, you would hear the perfect crisp crackle. Each order comes with an appetizer-sized plate of roasted pork belly. The crunch on the skin was phenomenal, like a dense and crispy chip. Imagine if they made snacks out of crispy pork skin. The ratio of fat and lean pork meat was perfect, so juicy and rich, yet soft and tender. The roast pork is phenomenal. We loved it. D1. 燒鴨 ROAST DUCK The roast duck skin was flavorful and juicy, complemented by the tender duck that was fresh. The soy sauce-based marinade was delicious, and this is a classic Cantonese BBQ option that you cannot go wrong with. K15. 港式咕噜肉 SWEET & SOUR PORK HONG KONG STYLE This isn't my favorite dish, but the pork was crispy and held a lot of the sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed it, but it pales in comparison to the others. Still, another safe Cantonese classic that I would recommend. P6. 鞋菌豆腐煲 TO-FU W. MIXED MUSHROOM IN CLAY POT They served it to us in a glass plate, but it was still delicious. Arguably, I think this was my favorite out of all the dishes because of how simple it is, and it's full of mushrooms and vegetables! There was a strong "wok hay" flavor, and the fried egg tofu were hot (it burned the roof of my mouth, but I did not care), soft, and incredibly jiggly. I loved the mushrooms and vegetables which was braised with the sauce. Big yum all around, this one hit home and one of my go-tos. F2. 菜炒牛肉炒河 SAUTEED FLAT RICE NOODLE W. BEEF & VEGETABLE Not a single vegetable in sight, unless you count the green onions and bean sprouts. This is probably one of the most well-known Cantonese classics with its strong "wok hay" flavor. The rice noodles had the perfect texture and there was a generous amount of beef stir-fried in. While it's many people's favorites, it's always a bit too oily that I would like (and that oil is almost necessary for good flavor). I recommend it if you want a safe staple, but I would encourage trying something else. We basically ordered the Cantonese classics and it was so delicious and more than what the 5 of us could finish. I highly recommend this restaurant for Cantonese food. The interior is your typical mom-and-pop restaurant, 80's/90's-style decor. It's not fancy, but the food is exceptional.

Service was relatively fast, though the restaurant on this Friday night in particular was not crowded relative to what it usually is. I would recommend for weekends to make sure a table is reserved and try not to go during main eating hours since the parking lot is usually very full. My family ordered lots of dishes, but my personal favorites of the many we ordered were the Peking Duck (10/10 every time, must try whenever you come here) and the lightly battered jalapeño grouper (incredibly clean and easy to eat, balances with the much heavier items). These two dishes really stood out in the selection we had and are good every time we have been here. There were a few of the dishes that I thought weren't the greatest. Firstly, the lobster we had ordered was a tough and very fishy, making it hard to eat (I would likely order it in the sauce and with noodles, rather than the drier version). The pork belly was a little too heavy on the fat/meat ratio and left a very oily taste in my mouth. The jasmine tea, which I usually use to wash everything down, was kind of diluted and tasted like sink water. These dishes were not the norm for this restaurant's quality, but with so many different options, there were bound to be weaker points in the menu. I'm always excited to eat at Fung's Kitchen, and with some amazing options, it provides a very elevated selection of foods that always impress me. While there's definitely weaknesses in some of their dishes for me, this place is definitely worth a visit!

The other patrons were nice, very decent people of all kinds of heritage. Food: My Yelp Elite friend's food discernment is still well-attuned! Would not score anything under an 8/10. We ordered the walnut shrimp (8/10), Peking duck (10/10), wonton soup (9/10), Asian broccoli (9/10). Service: Solidly good. They accepted reservations, including for the duck on such a popular day/lots of people. The hostess kept good track of who's next and how long wait is, etc. The rest of staff were pleasant but also getting the job done in good time. The cooks -- how do you stay reliably good on such a day?! Ambiance: Nice for dinner! Despite the crowd, and likely the long day for the employees. Romantically lit enough interior. Felt good.
