They serve it with the "tortillas" style with the duck and all the fixings. I would say the skin was pretty good, but wish there were meatier parts to it. The soup was included in the set and was really good/hearty. The inside looks plain and it has tables and a few table booths. It just has more of an outdated type of vibe for me. The Peking duck is the best though. It was cooked just right nice and tender with the crispy skin. We were also given some soup and that was bland. I tried their green leafy spinach looking vegetable and that was hard and crunchy and normally they would be softer than that. They tasted like they might have been old. The kung pao chicken has nice elements and looked good. However, after tasting it, it was also bland and tasteless. I could barely taste the heat from the chilis. We had 8 adults and two children under 5 with us. We ordered: Full Peking Duck and it came with soup - they use the pancake style and every adult had 2-3. We did not need to add extra sauce or pancakes. The Duck soup had the clear noodles in it. But minus one full star because we did find a piece of plastic in there. Very concerning... luckily, it was in one of the adults bowls and not the kids. Stir fry lamb - it's about equal parts veggies and meat. The lamb tastes off. Mapo tofu- has a slight spiciness to it but was a good comfort dish. Scallion pancakes- super crispy and tastes great with orange chicken. Orange chicken - in the sweet side and its chucks of delicious meat. Bok choy- our vegetables dish of choice. Good plate cleanser in between strong flavored dishes. I'm on a low carb diet so this was a good alternative to rice for me. I would get the scallion pancakes, orange chicken, and bok choy again. Mapo tofu for those who like a slight spicy kick. The Peking Duck is debatable. I like the breadier version instead of the pancakes. But I liked the fact that the duck isn't overly greasy. As for service, it was alright. They did great with the kids. But there was some miscommunication regarding food. We had a dish that we thought was taking forever to make, but it turns out they never place it in the order and said that we didn't ask for it. We've been coming here for Peking duck ever since it opened, and it remains our go-to spot for it. The duck is hands down the best in town and closest to authentic Peking duck (although the knife work and presentation is much less sophisticated compared to the real thing). Their other Northern Chinese style dishes are solid as well, reminds me a little taste of home. My personal favorites are the shredded pork with garlic sauce and the salted egg with pumpkin. If you are adventurous and love spicy food, their Mao Xue Wang (spicy intestine and blood stew) is also pretty flavorful. Most menu items stayed consistent, but the price has gone through multiple increase throughout the years. The whole duck combo is now $56 (was $45 less than 2 years ago), and the complementary duck soup has been getting a bit watered down. Very family friendly vibes. This also indicates to me that they mean good food because I wouldn't expect to see this many families. Another thing I noticed is that it is BYOB so I think that's why there were large friend groups as well. The half duck was very good. The duck soup is also more flavorful than the other popular duck places. So why not 5 stars? Inconsistency and service. TLDR; Crispy, yummy duck but would only go back at off hours. Food execution seems inconsistent too. Price point about the same as the other popular duck places. First time I went I was ready to give 5 stars. I showed up 15 min after opening on a weekend and was the first and only table for a while. Half duck and soup came out 15-20 min after I ordered, which was expected. The skin was wonderfully crispy and there was more than enough skin for every bite and even had leftover. The cucumber and onion slices were also plentiful so I didn't have to ration. Meat was tender and juicy. Second time, we showed up on the weekend around 12:30 and that was a mistake. After ordering, it took an hour and 5 minutes for the duck to show up. At that point we could have driven to Bamboo House and gotten our duck. Good news, the duck was just as good as the first time, but the wait was insane. Pro tip: don't go at peak times. As a small restaurant, I think they can only accommodate 2 duck orders at a time, and we snagged the last empty table, so had to wait for 4-5 other ducks to get served before it was our turn. Even worse, our duck soup had no vermicelli. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she stirred around in our bowl and managed to find one noodle. Then she said it just looked like they put less than usual. I'm sorry, how is one noodle ok? And after waiting an hour for food, didn't even offer to make it right? 2 hours at a restaurant in Chinatown is way too much time. Hands down the best Peking duck in Houston. It most resembles how the restaurants in Beijing cook them. In terms of the crispy duck skin, the knife work, the thin crepes/wraps, it is a solid, solid entree. At $45, it is on the high side of ducks in the area but we'll worth it if it's up your alley. Located in Chinatown next to the 50 boba shops, it's got a decently modern interior inside. Service is friendly actually here and it's a mix of Beijing dishes and Sichuan dishes. The other day I went to Peking Impression restaurant for 8 people, the total bill was about $225. I also wondered why it was so cheap. When they brought out the credit card machine, it was clearly show me $224 and I paid $225 without adding any tip to the card. I gave $60 in cash tips on the table. When I paid, I clearly asked if the tip was not included in the bill. The server said it was not added to the bill. That's why I gave $60 in cash. Today, I checked my credit card online and saw that they charged me $275 instead of $225. I don't mind giving them the tip. The problem is that I don't like the way they weren't honest with me. Next time I go out to eat with a lot of people, I should ask them to print out the bill to check again carefully. The total tip was $110, almost 50%. I don't understand how they can be so greedy. Great duck spot. I think every table in the place had duck when we were there. When we arrived around 7:00 PM there was about a 15 minute wait. By 8:00 PM there were several open tables. The full duck comes with a large duck soup which included a lot of duck. As the duck is so much, we took almost all of the soup with us. The skin was fantastic but will note duck meat was a little more sparse. Severed with crepes versus bao which I greatly prefer - plenty for duck. I would say a duck with the soup can easily feed at least three hungry people. We also had the skillet beef which was fantastic, but most of this made the journey home with us. They are BYOB and we were not charged a fee. If you decide to need wine last minute, there is a market in the plaza. Will definitely return soon. Came here on a Houston trip with my mom and she suggested this restaurant because she liked their Peking duck when she last came here. We ordered both the duck (requested the duck bone broth with it), and baked tofu with salted egg yolk. The duck was good overall, I think some pieces of skin were a bit fatty, but for the price, it was a steal! In Austin, the places that serve Peking duck either run out of supply or charge egregious amounts for it. I enjoyed the Baked Tofu as well, but I found it a bit too one-note and salty after eating a lot of it. I prefer my crispy tofu with a sauce or something acidic to cut into the saltiness.
